IMO, you should try to use "ding ding" as a form of transportation, rather than purposely go and take it, so that it won't be a waste of time lor...

Using "ding ding" as mode of transportation, for eg after visiting Ocean Park, go to Causeway Bay, from there "ding ding" all the way to Central.

Take "ding ding" from the terminal station to secure the front seats on the upper deck...
*
yup, i wanna to take ding ding tram to those place..
but i duno which station i should go cz it didn't stated on the webpage..
so, a bit confusing here..
that's why i thought of ride it at night just to enjoy the view..hmmm!!

From Google Map, it seems not very far away from Sheung Wan MTR station.. so I think it wouldn't be over HKD40 or just around that price..

Best time to take ding-ding is non-peak hours, ie. before and after office hours. Take it after dinner la, so you can enjoy the night city view + less crowded. It is NOT a waste of time for sure! I enjoy taking ding-ding when it's not packed, very relax!
Yes you're right, if one can recognise landmarks in different areas, it's a good and cheaper transportation to replace MTR to travel along main spots on HK Island. Why I say so, becoz ding-ding doesn't have station name, so if you are first time visiting HK Island, you may not know where is Causeway Bay and where is Central by just looking at the buildings & surrounding... Even myself living in HK for decades, sometimes I am not sure where to get off when I am on the tram 'coz I never live on HK Island side....
*
yup, maybe will take cab or walk from sheung wan mtr to po yan street.. smile.gif

ohh...because i act i plan to ride ding ding tram at night after going to the peak..
cz i wil be going to the peak during evenin..
but, which station should i take from the peak??
and it will just reach sheung wan kei??

You wanna take ding-ding after going down from the Peak, don't you? You can find ding-ding stops on the main street of Central (i.e. where the HSBC building located), then take ding-ding with the direction to Kennedy Town if you're going to Sheung Wan (btw, are you going to Sheung Wan or Shau Kei Wan?! as I don't know what you meant by Sheung Wan Kei...)
*
actually, i'm planning to take ding ding tram from shau kei wan to maybe central or causeway bay..just to enjoy the ride and view..but, it's seems wastin time.. tongue.gif
but, i wanna take ding ding tram after the peak just to enjoy the view but i don't know which station should i stop as from the peak to sheung wan seems quite near and can't enjoy much.tongue.gif

@takki87

I think you've confused yourself with the Peak tram and the "ding ding" tram liao ah?

The Peak tram is something like the one going up Penang Hill, but very much faster.  (the Penang Hill's one is going to be upgraded)

The "ding ding" tram is the what we called "dian che" ("electric car")..

This is the HK tramway's site, you can click on Tram Route Map to (East Bound or West Bound) to see the tram stops:
  http://www.hktramways.com/en/service/index.html

Then you check and match the location on Google Map to have an idea how to go from one place to another, which tram stops etc.

Added on November 6, 2009, 7:19 pmOh, I forgot...

I suggest you Google or Wikipaed for some famous building on HK island, see the pictures of the buildings.  Then you can recognise them and use them as landmark.

For eg:
Bank of China Tower - the one that looks like bamboo, with sharp edges/point, er bad fengshui...

Hopewell Centre - the only one cylindical builiding, with a revolving restaurant above

Cheung Kong Centre - rectangle shape, like a match box.  Garden Road is in between Cheung Kong Centre and BOC tower.

Two IFC - the tallest building
*
i clicked the ding ding tram webpage b4...
it's shows all the station but i duno which one to stop.
let's say i wana go to the peak or lan kwai fong those..cz the map didn't stated it and only shows the road's name.. rclxub.gif
how can i check it??
does google map shows the ding ding tram as the mtr??

Oh, ya, unfortunately, Google Map does not show the tram track.  I used it to "agak agak", matching the road names with the tram route.  I know it's a bit seeing stars ah... I try to explain..

Example, going to the Peak tram station at Garden Road:
- Use Google Map, locate Garden Road.
- Check the tram route (eg from Causeway Bay, so the West Bound), and match with the above map, nearest tram stop would be at Bank Street.
- Take note that it's 2 tram stops after Admiralty MTR station (get ready to look out and alight)

This following map shows the track but no detailed map, it's in Chinese:
http://www.chinatouristmaps.com/travel/hon...s-stations.html
Also, the tourist maps collected at the airport show the tram track.  But tram stops are not shown, coz they are quite near to each other, about 250m apart.

Btw, bus no 15 goes all the way up to the Peak, no need to take Peak Tram.  It's a scenic bus ride.  Going up the Peak, take the front seat, right hand side, upper deck.

If you happen to visit Stanley or Repulse Bay before the Peak, can take bus no 6 from Stanley/Repulse Bay and catch bus no 15 along Stubbs Road (alight no 6 after the small round-about and cross the road to take no 15).
*
thank you for the map...it's much better with that...
btw, how long does it takes if i take bus instead of peak tram??
can i take bus going down from the peak??tongue.gif
and how about the observation deck at bank if china??
sorry for asking so many questions..

No need to take ding ding all the way from Shau Kei Wan la... it's really kinda wasting time unless you got a lot of spare time in the trip. I think it's enough to experience the ride to take ding ding between Central and Causeway Bay. Since both are main spots on the tram track, you can treat it as a replacement of MTR instead of riding it for no purpose...
*
hihi...thanks for your advice...
that will be better..
cz take ding ding tram all the way to shau kei wan and has nothing to do kinda waste of time..tongue.gif
beside can enjoy the view onli..

Depends where you take the bus from la...  Refer here for bus route, time and fare, click on the magnifying glass at bus stop no. to see description and photo of the bus stop:
http://www.nwstbus.com.hk/routes/routeinfo...ype=D&company=7

Scroll to the very end for total distance and total journey time..

It's up to you, whether to take bus all the way up to the Peak, or walk from Garden Road to peak tram station to take the Peak Tram, or take bus 15C that just bring you to the peak tram station at Garden Road then take the Peak Tram..

Can take bus go up, sure can take bus come down la... aiyo...apala..

Bank of China Tower observation deck, just +/- option, if you happen to walk along Garden Road, and got time, can go up to the 43rd floor and have a look.  Small place nia, 5-10mins stop will do, view not bad, and can collect free, very nice brochure about the building there.
*
thank you for the bus webage... biggrin.gif
but, probably will walk to the peak tram station and take peak tram.
but, need to wait long time for the bus from the peak??
might tak bus down from there..hihi!!!

It takes roughly 20-30mins to go up/down the peak by bus, if I'm not wrong..
Stalls in Fa Yuen Street generally start closing at around 10pm... but stalls in Ladies Street would close a bit later at around 11 or 11:30pm 'coz more people there. Therefore I suggest you to visit Fa Yuen Street before Ladies Street, 'coz items in Fa Yuen Street would be cheaper than Ladies Street 'coz more locals shop there. Ladies Street is somehow too "tourist-oriented".

I think it would be faster than you wait for the long queue at the Peak Tram station if you're going on weekends or during peak season! You know, it could take more than 30mins for queueing up for the Peak Tram in festive season!!!!
*
ohhh...i will be heading to fa yuen street first before ladies street..haha!!
but it's really close quite early than my expectation.. tongue.gif

i will go to the peak during friday...so maybe will take peak tram up then take bus down..
wow..the queue really can kill me if wait for 30 minutes..hahah!!
will be depart early morning tomorrow.. rclxms.gif
