What's the difference using a hsbc cc compared to other bank's cc? Any added advantage?

Anyone here tried having more than two people staying in a hotel double room? For example, if there are 6 of us travelling and I plan to just book 2 double room in a hotel and fit 3 into a room. Is it advisable?

Hi all, I will be going to HK on mid Sept which co-incides with the Mid Autumn Festival. I kinda regretted that I didn't make my trip longer. I will be spending 5 days there but in truth, I only get to spend 3 whole days there. Here's how my travel details look like:

Day1: Expected to arrive at 8:35pm. By the time travel to hostel in mongkok, it should be already close to 10pm.
Day2,3,4: Still in planning stage
Day5: Travel to macau to catch our flight at 4:40pm

Although it's short, i plan to make it count. I have a few questions:

1) I figured that it would leave us with not much time to travel around HK if we were to visit both Disneyland and Ocean Park. So, which one will it be? Or both? Take note, I'm travelling with my family: (parents+4 young adults)
2) Is it possible to squeeze Ocean Park with the peak(late evening till night) on the same day?
3) Any particular place to visit during Mid-Autumn Festival?

That's all I can think of now. I will ask again if any question pops up in my head.

Thanks.

1) Yes.
2) Yes.

So a little bit of suggestion on your planning
Day 1 Arrival and Check in. Go for late dinner / supper
Day 2 Disneyland (fireworks around 8-8.30) then go to Avenue of Star (Victoria Harbor)
Day 3 Ocean Park then leave Ocean park and go to The Peak around 5p.m or 6p.m
Day 4 any special attraction that you would like to go? If you want to catch the Symphony of Lights at Avenue of star, you got to be there at 6.30p.m to secure a nice viewing spot
Day 5 check out early then go to Macau (the ferry takes around 1 hour time) then you can hop on the bus to Venetian Resorts and deposit your luggage with them (free of charge)so that you all can walk around without bring those luggage!
*
If I were to visit Ocean Park and The Peak on the same day, would there be enough time for us to cover most of the attractions/rides in Ocean Park?

So in your opinion, it's more worth spending 2 out of the 3 days on parks rather than going around HK?

If a typhoon occurs, will it affect tourist activities or normal HK activities in general?

Hi,

1) I read somewhere that we can buy the tickets to the Peak which covers Return tram ticket + Sky Terrace + Madame Tussauds. But some forumers here suggested that we use the Octopus card for the peak tram to avoid the long queues. What if I would like to visit Sky Terrace and Madame Tussauds as well? I need to buy the tickets seperately?

2) Is it advisable to buy the tickets for Ocean Park/Disneyland/The Peak before i travel to HK or I can buy them when I reach HK? Where can I get those tickets? Or anyone knows where can i get discounted tickets for tourist attraction places?

3) I've read somewhere here someone suggested Shatin for shopping. Is it good? What is your opinion? (FYI i'm not into posh/luxury/exp stuffs. Looking for lower to middle end stuffs.)

1. The time i traveled there (during CNY this year) i bought the bundle with the tram ticket, sky terrance and madame tussauds which i find it cheaper compare to when i buy separately. Plus i dun have to worry about getting tickets once i got them all.

2. It is advisable to get all your attraction tickets first to avoid any dissapointments of having sold out tickets of whatsoever. But I find that buying tickets online are more expensive than you get the tickets from some local travel agency in HK when i reach there. My time when i was there, i find out this local HK travel agency near mongkok  first thing when  i reach HK and i bought all attraction tickets from there. All with 15% discount to the actual rates, so i definitely got all my tickets cheaper and no worries after that  tongue.gif

3. I didn shop in Shatin because HK has even more better shopping experience than to go all the way to that outskirt. Unless if you wanna enjoy their shatin roasted pigeon and check out the charlie brown children's playground, maybe you can go ahead if you have the time.

4. If you're looking for lower or middle end stuff, i did shop in citywalk, Tsuen Wan and citygate tung chung where i find they have similar shops like in KL and cheaper when i converted the rates. Shopping mall is central is more expensive. You can try to walk around the small malls at TST and Prince edward which the price is quite average too. If you like to bargain and very pro at it, you can walk along the streets of Mongkok. But personally i find mongkok abit cutting our throat and not willing to bargain for me even when i use cantonese language sad.gif so i didn do shopping there. Only makan. teeheee

Thanks for the input. May I know which local HK travel agency are u referring to? I might want to get the tickets from there as well if it's cheap.

I will be going over to Macau on the last day of my trip to catch my flight. Which ferry you guys recommend to take? I know there's Turbo Jet, Cotai Jet and New World First Ferry. Btw, do they have a limit on passenger's luggage? My family and myself will be travelling with a medium-big luggage and a hand carry luggage each.

Hi guys, I wanna ask about ferry stuff again. I will be taking ferry to macau on the last day of my trip to catch my flight back to Msia. I'm staying at Mongkok. Logically speaking, i shud take the ferry at TST since it's nearer but the new world first ferry will stop not so near to macau airport while cotaijet stops at the terminal which is much nearer to airport. Lets say i plan to take a 9am ferry to macau. reach there 10am. my flight is at 440pm. do u think i can take the new world first ferry, after reaching macau, visit ruins of st paul, then venetian then only go to airport? Or i shud take cotaijet, skip ruins of st paul, just visit venetian and go to airport?

btw, to take cotaijet, whats the name of there ferry terminal in HK? and wats the nearest MTR station?

Unable to find Ding Ding when i was there last month.. sweat.gif

It's quite easy to find actually. Imagine you are walking down the Nathan Rd from Mongkok to TST, it is at the right hand side of the road. You have to enter a building (cant remember the name) then go up to certain floor, once you come out of the lift area you can see the small little office.

wat about no.4?
and for 1~3, no need to reserve @ their website? just buy ad-hocly from there?
cheaper than their publish rate @ website? (website price aredi very cheap)
*
You can buy straight from there. I bought my Ocean Park tickets there for HKD205. If you buy from OP directly, it's HKD280. If you buy from hostels, they only discount like around HKD30. I'm not sure what is No.4 but if you referring to the Big Buddha Statue at Ngong Ping then u can get the tickets from Ding Ding as well.

Really worth going to ngong ping 360? limited days there so really want to know worth going there.

I also had limited time at HK. Only 5 days 4 nights. First day and last day travel, only 3 full days there. So I ended up not going to ngong ping. It all depends on individual preferences anyway.

Yea, DingDing travel agency gives quite good discount. It's recommended by quite a number of forumers here.

I will be in Hong Kong from 12th Oct to 19th Oct and I'd actually called Ding Ding Travel and asked for the price. Check out the price below from Ding Ding:
Ocean Park = 230.00
Disneyland = 316.00
Ngong Ping 360 Normal Cabin (2-way) = 86.00
Madame Tussauds/ Tram/ Sky Terrace = 157.00
*
230? Looks like they increased the price. I bought mid of last month(sept) for 205 only. I got madame tussauds/tram/terrace for the same price(157)

For me I just refer to the shop/building lot number(607). It was pretty easy for me to locate the sun hing building. You will not miss it if you look out for the shop/building lot number.
