Any suggestion for roast pigeon in Hong Kong?

I've been checking this thread and also google. Found these 3:-

1) Lung Wah Hotel http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=1981

2) Shatin Chicken Congee http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=17802

3) Rivervine Keung Seafood Restaurant
http://www.openrice.com/restaurant/sr2.htm?shopid=2910

At 1st i thought of going to Lung Wah in Shatin but seems like alot of negative comments (eg: bad service, too oily, not as good as before).

I heard Tai Wai area got better roast pigeon restaurant. Any recommendation? This "Shatin Chicken Congee" is in Tai Wai. Any comments?

Thanks in advance.

I think you could try the Shatin Chicken Congee instead of Lung Wah, 'coz I also heard people said their quality is getting worse... I can't recommend a good one 'coz myself is not quite fond of pigeon... sorry about that..

Thanks for your reply. Will consider Shatin Chicken Congee instead.

Thanks for sharing this little gem in HK! Nice timing since i'm headed to HK in a few mths time and most likely going to be staying in Mongkok area.

Any idea if their crispy cha siu bao will be sold out fast in the morning or will it be available throughout the day? Looks delicious. I plan to visit this restaurant after 3pm on Monday.

thanks mod..oh one more thing..isit secure to book dragon hostel thru their website (http://www.dragonhostel.com/) because i have to convince my sister coz she's like "they said book thru agency or Hk tourism..bla bla"  but I want to cut the budget and time..
*
i hope its secure coz i just booked 4 nights at dragonhostel. I sent them an email and they asked me to bank-in money to a local bank for 1 night's stay (around RM160 or HKD360) deposit . Atleast i dont have to pay for service charges since i am dealing with them directly (I think unless that website isn't owned by them).

Hi all smile.gif

I am planning to visit Hong Kong for the first time this April on my own biggrin.gif. already booked my ticket, but not yet the accomodation. Would like some suugestions from everyone here smile.gif)

Anybody stayed in YMCA Salisbury before? I want to book a bed in the dorm room there but thet're currently full. i'm thinking of getting single room in YMCA or other places around Tsim Ha Tsui. Heard a lot of the Chun King and Mirador Mansions too, are they really that bad? @.@

another option is Yes inn at the King's road, causeway bay if i'm not mistaken. is that area safe?

Have you considered Dragon Hostel Mongkok (http://www.dragonhostel.com) ? Communicated with them for my room booking via email and they responded quite fast and answered some of my questions (how much nearby laundry service, etc). I booked 4 nights but they do require 1st night full payment in advance. Seems to be highly recommended by lowyat forumers who have stayed there before so thats why i picked this place.

Hi all, me and my sister will be off to HK this march..
about the accommodation, i think you guys could consider Hop Inn Hostels.
They just open end of 2009 i think..the room is super cool because it got 9 different theme for it.
plus the owner,Wilson is so kind. Give it a try. If only they got enough room for us, unfortunately its already fully booked by the time we go there.
here's the link..Hope it helps..

oh btw, anyone could help me have a look at the itenary and give some comment..thanks

Day 01 Depart for Macau
• Upon arrival at 17:45 at Macau International Airport. Take Bus AP1 to get to the Macau Ferry Terminal, HKD 3.30 per person
• Upon arrival, transfer to Hong Kong by “Turbo-jet”.
• Arrive at HK approximately 1hour
• Check-in hotel at Dragon Hostel, Mongkok
any plan for night?

suggest take First Ferry from Macau to China HK Terminal which is at Tsim Tsa Tsui. If not mistaken,Turbo jet goes to Hong Kong island so its quite far from Mongkok (northern part of HK).

Day 02 Hong Kong
• Ladies Street, IT Street at Mongkok
Actually we wanted to go shopping..or is it wasted planning 1 whole day for shopping itself?
• Proceed to Victoria Peak with one way Peak Tram ride. Madame Tussaud

I plan to purchase the one day ride for the Rickshaw Sight-Seeing Bus (more info on page 1, post#2 of this thread by northasian). Cost HKD50. They stop at the shopping malls as well and also stop at Peak Tram station. You can kill two birds with one stone  smile.gif

Day 03 Hong Kong Disneyland
• Visit Disneyland - HKD 350 per person
• Take Star Ferry ride at Tsim Sha Tsui to catch Symphony of Lights (KIV because have to choose fireworks at Disney or Symphony of Lights)

suggest catch Symphony of Lights on Day 1.also can check out other nearby attractions in Tsim Tsa Tsui eg: Avenue of stars.  My friend told me the fireworks at Disney is spectacular and shouldnt miss (i think Disneyland's high ticket price is partly to pay for the expensive fireworks). You can also get the ticket cheaper at Dragon Hostel : http://www.dragonhostel.com/disney.htm

Day 04 Hong Kong/ Shenzen
• Visit Silk Store
• Visit Window of the World - Splendid China
anything else?

i think these 2 places will take you the whole day atleast. One park alone is very huge by itself. My plan is also to cover these 2 places in a day. WoW from 9am till 2.30pm then goto Splendid China  via metro train or taxi (stay until after their culture shows-not included in the RMB120 admission fee)

Day 05 Macau/Kuala Lumpur
• Take ferry from HK to Macau.
• Since flight at 9pm, sight-seeing at Macau
• The Venetian
• Ruins of St. Paul’s Mount Fortress
• Santa Casa da Misericórdia
• Ruins of St. Paul’s Mount Fortress

ouh okay, means jz go there n hv a look wil do??  smile.gif  how long d journey takes frm senado square to hac sa beach?

huh?? tai lei isn't d best?
sam hou lei.. wil take note on that.. can i hv d chinese name for that?

btw, is ngong peng nice? plan to visit ther too.. after ngong peng will drop by citygate outlets.. yahoo!! lots thing to shop there?

also, is d rickshaw sightseeing bus worth to go?
*
i'll be going to Macau-Hong Kong next week

thought of trying richshaw but decided not to since i'm worried about sending too much time waiting for the bus. To take rickshaw sightseeing bus, you'll have to plan abit when to take the bus as they have a schedule. Else you might even have to wait along time to board a bus!
