What's the latest Metal Gear number btw? My favourite remains X, maybe because I played it the most. Of all the SNK games, I want a new Fatal Fury the most. Not KOF, but the original SF challenger, Fatal Fury. Although the game has aged horribly now, I was a huge fan of FF2. Multi plane stages, desperation move, (relatively) colourful compared to other games of the era... Man, nostalgia... It's sad that Garou Mark of the Wolves was the last FF game...

FAIL! doh.gif Mr. Kojima seems to have me on mind control or something lol. Well, Metal Slug never took itself too seriously. Between the zombie powerup, camel ride and prisoners shooting hadoukens, it's not supposed to be a proper military-themed game either way.

Those 2 games at the top there (Yuna and Yuna 2), are they some of the famous (or is that infamous?) H games available on the PC Engine? I remember back when everything Japanese had this "exotic" aura around them. Except when it's translated, then it makes sense. smile.gif

Woot, nice find! Samurai Spirits, Shin Samurai Spirits, Garou Densetsu 2+3+Special, Super Robot Wars. What's that game on the lower half there? That looks like Haohmaru, but I don't recognize the cover.

I'm not sure why but I've never had any interest to play Guilty Gear in the arcades. On consoles I love it very much, but it's definitely less "traditional" compared to other 2D fighting games. Speaking of GG, GGX remains my most remembered one, but my favourite would be GGXX. Didn't think much of Isuka or #Reload for some reason though. Regardless, I want a new GG!

Whoops, I guess not everyone's that familiar with the GG games I guess. Although I say I'm not really a big fan of GG, I've still played all the major entries. Portable games don't count. Guity Gear XX is called Guilty Gear X2 in the US, and is the sequel to Guilty Gear X. I don't think I've ever seen GGXX in local arcades here. The most common one would be GGX, followed by Isuka. There are some changes and outright improvements in GGXX, but I'm not very qualified to list them here. You can probably do better searching the Internet. GGXX also automatically is better to me with the introduction of the final boss I-No, replacing Dizzy in GGX. I-No's character design is ... really something. Hint: her win animation tongue.gif

Didn't you know? Cyberbots is Capcom's No. 1 game! ~ Devilotte

I don't know why, but I keep forgetting that Cyberbots is also a Saturn title. Probably because the arcade version of Tech Romancer (the sequel) runs on System 11 (or was it 12?) hardware, and my mind automatically translated that as PS1. Despite the fact that Tech Romancer was ported to Dreamcast, a SEGA console. Haha, I'm one confused guy rclxub.gif Anyway, what's on that Secret Files thing? Artbook? Strategy?

Tech Romancer or Kikaioh is spiritual sequel.

Cyberbots itself is a spiritual sequel of Powered Gear.

Kikaioh runs on System 11.

I once played Kikaioh on a System 11 emulator back in the Pentium 4 1.6 GHz era, emu quite slow back then....

Secret Files contain typical artbook material. Also a feature on a non-scale model of ZeroGouki produced by Kotobukiya....

Pretty decent limited edition, but best part is that the item is like crispy brand new despite being 12 years old.

Gotta love the Japanese collector mentality......

Added on July 4, 2011, 10:54 pmCyberbots was also released on the PS1, but I beleive PS1 version did not have Zero Gouki. Also the game is even rarer than the Saturn limited edition....

Oh, BTW Kikaioh on DC is awesome!

I know it's not really a sequel, since it doesn't even follow the story from Cyberbots. Completely different playstyle too. But I use it as excuse since Blodia and Jin Saotome is also in Tech Romancer. The old Mines Wonderland arcade used to have a Kikaioh machine, which I played like crazy. I mostly used Dixen because of the ease of spamming A+B and the seeking beam. Also, Dixen's critical impact move is quite easy to land. Lastly, it's not just Kikaioh. It's CHOUKOU SENKI!!KIKAIIIIOOOHHHH!!!!! rclxm9.gif Man, I loved the mecha anime feel in that game...

Is the Samurai Spirits RPG story following canon? Or is it a side story? What's the timeline?

Agree on the collector's aspect there. Despite playing it in the arcades and not being impressed, I still wanted to play the hell out of this game. Many, many years passed, then I got a Saturn for collecting, then I got a 3rd party 4MB cartridge, but can't play FF Revenge because the cartridge is not compatible with all 4MB games! Only quite recently that I got another cartridge, and managed to play it! Just to see the game playing on my Saturn...

Of course, Tail Concerto. If I'm not mistaken it's been discussed here before. Was it Gundam who bought it?

I still have to bloody find a standard CRT TV these days! Until today I still haven't tried out my Virtua Gun for Saturn. All the while I only know of less accurate 3rd party guns, I want to know how does Sega's gun perform? Arcade precise or still not there?

The funny thing about having a console is that it never seems as awesome as it was BEFORE you got it. Basically if you don't have it, it looks awesome. I remember being jealous of a friend who had a SEGA Megadrive back in primary school. Still, I go to his place often, so I still got a good taste of MD games. Heck I was also jeaous of people who have Micro Genius, despite the fact I was already using a PC that can play MK and DOOM in 1995. Now that's just sad...

So what's the battery life on those things? Any fancy stuff like TV out or input for additional controller? And what's the product name btw?

Uhh, is that the first Need for Speed? I haven't heard of Over Drivin' before, but the Road & Track and EA logo is a strong give away. Or it could be a different game, I don't know...

SEEEEGAAAAAAA!! Good old memories. smile.gif I was actually in Super Potato in Tokyo not too long ago, just browsing through stuff. Surprisingly, I didn't go batshit crazy while there. It's only after getting back here that my tangan gatal for some retro stuff. I saw a lot ot stuff I'm interested in: Super Famicom, Sega Megadrive, Famicom stuff. And all sorts of games of course.

I might be going for another trip there in a couple months time. This time I'll be looking for stuff. Anyone has any idea what's a reasonable price for a Saturn controller? I only have one good controller, the rest are gone cases. One particular controller was ok for like 5 minutes after I opened up and cleaned it, but then went crazy again. So I might as well just buy one as long as I'm there.

biggrin.gif Well, I'll see if I want to do that getting closer to the travel date. Before that, let's just casually dicuss here. What kind of stuff would you guys be interested in? Me, I was actually thinking of some rare stuff like the Twin Sticks for Virtual On, which somehow completely escaped my mind when I was there.

I'm also somewhat interested in getting an SFC, but I'm afraid I won't be able to stop once I start going through the games. sweat.gif I saw an SFII World Warriors cart for 円300 if I'm not mistaken. For reference, each 円100 is about RM4 with current rate. That's impulse buy right there! I even saw an Apple Pippin, though I doubt anyone would even care.

So again, let's just discuss openly about what stuff you guys would be interested in, including any "holy shit" stuff like Xbox 1 Tekki/Steel Battalion (no, I didn't find one sad.gif). This is by no means that I would entertain the idea, but who knows. Let the discussion begin!

Ahh the 90's. The golden era of PC gaming, when most of the innovation was genuinely exciting. RTS, FPS, flight sims, adventure games, all golden. Then there's also that thing with mech simulators. Although this can be disputed, I feel that part of the reason us crusty old gamers do not feel that strongly about modern games is because the feeling of freshness is long gone. All those genres I listed up there? They all peaked during the 90s. Try developing a new game in any of those genres now. Flight sims are simply dead, the FPS realm is overcrowded, and no one wants anything to do with adventure games anymore. Sure, there are exceptions, but the market is no longer rife with these titles.

These days I find myself more and more a console gamer, since that's where most of the games are. Once a while though, I see something interesting on the PC side of things, like Hawken. Too bad it's MP only sad.gif I would love to see Hawken having a single player component (with story) like the old MechWarrior games. Speaking of MechWarrior, at least there will be a new upcoming game, although it's also MP only sad.gif
