hi i downloaded the latest map from

http://www.malfreemaps.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=9969

it comes with a exe extension, how do i install it to my phone?
*
Run the exe file - it will extract into a folder. Copy all the files in the extracted folder and replace all the files in your card : Navisea/Maps/Malaysia

Waeguk: if you sre using TAB the navisea folder must be in the internal sd card not the external sd card.

Just rename 480x854 . There should be one in the organic folder and several others in the different language subfolder eg cht, eng etc. make sure you rename all
trial version I remember is up to 15 days . Beyond that you need to purchase to obtain the unlock code

In all the androids that i have use ( NexusOne, HD2 on Android ), Dell Streak, Galaxy Tab ) - I never use the AGPS feature. Not necessary as the detection and lockup was quick. Only in the Galaxy S - it helps but slightly ; anyway the Galaxy S is reputed to have a poorer GPS hardware

follow this link if you want help to install papago on galaxy tab,,
bu i dont know how to make it landscape,, sorry,, teach us if you know,,
*
No landscape mode on the TAB. If you wish to have landscape - use Sygic AURA. Personally I find Aura is more user friendly, easier to use, fantastic beautiful graphics, many selections of voices etc. Only disadvantage maps not updated monthly

what is ur battery consumption when using papago gps android phone? is it great?
*
Most smartphones when on GPS will utilise a higher battery charge; minimum at least 20 % to 30% more depending on your phone. Phone also gets hotter . But this is not an issue - as most probably you will be charging your phone while using it in the car

junction view & lane assist not only can be found in KL...

In PG also can...i  have seen it functioning on my papago when i test it;

i m sure elsewhere also functioning where there got more than 2 lanes at junction

*
Such views are captured by satellites only in high traffic areas and concentrated on bigger towns/cities. Do not expect to have it available everywhere. And is not the GPS software problem - the information is controlled by satellites as the level of details defined /and captured is different for different places

It's not captured by satellite. It's all pre-defined and stored in the map...done by the mappers. For PAPAGO M7 which i am using on my SAmsung Wave, will have graphical representation of junction view...all predefined. Some are unique where special landmark is available, while other's are just recycle pictures where it fits the actual road.
*
Yes is predefined but info is captured from satellites. These views will only be updated with new releases of maps

QUOTE(DarkSilver @ Mar 25 2011, 10:43 AM)
So, without the Data Roaming Plan, I need to pay extra?
I don't mind pay extra. But, I am on Prepaid. Will it works?
*
All prepaid in our country do not offer data roaming services except just SMS/MMS. You cannot access internet using your prepaid simcard. DATA Roaming charges is dependent on the foreign country charges plus any additional charges by your local telco

Quote you an example. I am using a special Cerlcom postpaid plan> Example in one month, my billed data roaming charges :

46628 kbytes : RM 814 , that works out to about RM 1.74/kb or about RM 17.40 /MB .

Most Local GPRS data charges for most Msian telcos is about rm10 cents/10kb ie only 1 sen/kb - so you see the vast difference

Example : Spore MI line : local data GPRS charges is S$20 cents/10 kb ie about RM 50 sen/10 kb - here just basic charge alone is 5 times Msia local charges

So to cut down your roaming data charges, it is best you consult your local telco and see what is the best plans ( normally for postpaid ) - Celcom example has special roaming charges with selected countries. In my example, my Celecom postpaid has special plans and I need not pay the full RM 814 billed amount - there is a very very big discount off it. I know recently Digi under one of its prepaid smartplan plans has a fix RM 36 /day roaming data package unlimited data - this is cheap but to only 8 Asian selected countries : http://www.digi.com.my/internet/smartplan/smartplan.html

You wont be able to find much info on this on the telco's websites as it is dependent on the foreign countries rate. So your best choice is still visit your telco, tell them which country you are planning to go to and they will show you the estimated rates

Your best choice now on data roaming is select Digi smartplan. But on a long term basis, postpaid plan is cheaper

Added on March 27, 2011, 4:52 pmCan I fine any guide for papago x5? Don't know how to use sad.gif
*
The maps must be on the ext SD card not internal memory. Maps data are to be on sdcard/NaviSea/Maps/Malaysia folder. When you run the Papago X5 apk these folders are installed on the card
Guide to PapagoX5 - just google for manual guide - plenty you can find on the web , mostly in PDF format
