no money bro right now. and i just got into fight with my mom over my gf. yesterday my gf borrowed me all her money to buy my new processor and motherboard, and i told her i'd pay her next week or the week after that. then suddenly wants the money back at least 1/2 because she wanted to do her spectacles today with her parents. she was quite afraid of her parents, so, she didnt tell them that she borrowed all her money to me.

then my mom gotten angry because where the hell we can find such money so fast? at last i had to use my money to go into UNITEN to pay her.

then my mom said "enough is enough". well there are some things happened before this also, and almost every of the problems must have been directly or indirectly involving her parents. rclxub.gif

so right now i dont know whether i can buy the Asus or not, judging from my current family financial situation i guess i have to wait longer sad.gif

cloudstrife, what card you bought for ur desktop?
*
Sapphire ATI Radeon 4770 @RM330 from Robyncom. bought it because of low heat and low power consumption.

but it seems that low heat is not entirely true after all.

QUOTE(astria @ Nov 8 2009, 10:24 PM)
tri channel memory means higher memory bandwidth...

but that's overkill for consumer rigs... even games dun need that much bandwidth...

reviews have shown that the performance gain going from dual channel to tri channel (C2E QX9770 + X48 + 2x2GB DDR3 1333MHz vs Core i7 920 + X58 + 3x2GB DDR3 1333MHz) is at most 15% only... and in most cases, 5-10%... and yet u re paying 50% more for the extra piece of RAM...

if u merely need more RAM, memory controllers and chipsets nowadays support upto 16GB even with dual channel (4x 4GB)... still not enuf???

Added on November 8, 2009, 10:25 pm

compare with HD4830 and HD4850 and it is lower...

Added on November 8, 2009, 10:29 pmand i juz realize that cloud's rig is already better than BBX's.. .laugh.gif
*
but he still wins in term of RAM and hard disk biggrin.gif

mine's idle at 50~53C, load max 70C, is it hot? or not?

looks good, but i think can go a bit lower still...

iirc last time when using Phenom II x3, idle at 3xC with third party cooler, in a mATX chasis...

Added on November 8, 2009, 10:34 pm3GB RAM is more than enuf for a non-gaming rig... and HDD??? i am happy with 7.2k rpm... i scare if i try 10k already, i would curse my laptop... laugh.gif

Added on November 8, 2009, 10:35 pmbut y did u get a nForce 630a mobo???
*
ur phenom 30C+ or your GC?

i got no extra money bro for the mobo. atleast the cheap mobo is Asus, so less worry about warranty.

maybe if i got extra money next time i'll upgrade to a proper AM3 mobo smile.gif

it's my Phenom II... the heatsink used is Scythe Shuriken with OCZ Freeze... laugh.gif for graphic using integrated HD3300 only...

for cheap mobo dun get A$U$, Asus is the most expensive when comes to mobo...  get those like ECS, Biostar or even MSI...

i myself last time was looking for a budget mobo as well... then i found Biostar's TA790GX XE... it uses the newest (back then) 790GX chipset, with SB750 Southbridge (which allows me to unlock the 4th core), and still come with Radeon HD3300 which has 128MB Sideport memory (means dun need to share RAM)... and still come with fancy stuff like all solid capacitors, power and reset switch on mobo, debug LED...

mobo + Athlon x2 5200+ + 4GB RAM + ice-cream (laugh.gif) less than SG$400... that was 1 yr ago...

honestly speaking, it's the most valuable mobo i ve ever bought (i was a Gigabyte fanboy back then, thx to my brother in army introduced that to me)... it met all my requirements., namely mATX and SB750... and still with PCI-E 2.0 x16 for graphic card... nod.gif

AMD CPU goes with AMD mobo... nod.gif
*
well that 790GX with 128m sideport cost RM300 though. the Asus cost me RM185. and it comes with 2 years warranty! i like long warranty stuffs because my house here are prone to lightning. bored using too many AVR, Cal-Lab, Belkin etc already. sigh.

indeed, i was eyeing for that too, IF my board hadn't fried sooner. sad.gif
