but he still wins in term of RAM and hard disk biggrin.gif

mine's idle at 50~53C, load max 70C, is it hot? or not?

looks good, but i think can go a bit lower still...

iirc last time when using Phenom II x3, idle at 3xC with third party cooler, in a mATX chasis...

Added on November 8, 2009, 10:34 pm3GB RAM is more than enuf for a non-gaming rig... and HDD??? i am happy with 7.2k rpm... i scare if i try 10k already, i would curse my laptop... laugh.gif

it's my Phenom II... the heatsink used is Scythe Shuriken with OCZ Freeze... laugh.gif for graphic using integrated HD3300 only...

for cheap mobo dun get A$U$, Asus is the most expensive when comes to mobo... get those like ECS, Biostar or even MSI...

i myself last time was looking for a budget mobo as well... then i found Biostar's TA790GX XE... it uses the newest (back then) 790GX chipset, with SB750 Southbridge (which allows me to unlock the 4th core), and still come with Radeon HD3300 which has 128MB Sideport memory (means dun need to share RAM)... and still come with fancy stuff like all solid capacitors, power and reset switch on mobo, debug LED...

mobo + Athlon x2 5200+ + 4GB RAM + ice-cream (laugh.gif) less than SG$400... that was 1 yr ago...

honestly speaking, it's the most valuable mobo i ve ever bought (i was a Gigabyte fanboy back then, thx to my brother in army introduced that to me)... it met all my requirements., namely mATX and SB750... and still with PCI-E 2.0 x16 for graphic card... nod.gif

AMD CPU goes with AMD mobo... nod.gif

it's a valuable investment though... laugh.gif i had so much fun fiddling with the Phenom II x4x3... laugh.gif

main thing is actually budget...

for me usually, i jzu see wat i can get with a certain amount of budget for a certain chipset... then i adjust other hardware accordingly...

for eg, if i die die want Core i5 700, but i can't get a nice P55 mobo to go with it, then i'll go for a cheaper P55 mobo...

special criteria comes in place at times, eg: mATX mobo... this of course is a big constraint, since ur choice is severely limited...

for my Athlon rig, my criteria were: 790GX + SB750 chipset, mATX, 4 DIMM slots... and the Biostar meets all my requirements...

for my Core 2 rig, i dun have any requirement, so went with 1 of the cheapest P35 mobo i can find...

ah yes, forgot to mention that... in the residence here, there's also the tradition that everyone will write on a big birthday card, which will be given to the birthday boy/girl during the celebration...
