Hello LYN members,

Aloha to all Android users. You guys are among the most daring Malaysians who dare to switch from the common iPhone. I have been using HTC Hero for a few weeks now and I have to say, Google has done a GREAT job on their OS and HTC integrated it perfectly!

I'm not usually active on LYN because usually I'm here mostly for purchases. However, I would like to share my love for Android with people of my country too. I'm done with iPhone who keeps coming up with upgrades that does not meet my needs. Android does it best and all you have to do is just dare to change.

To those of you who have rooted your HTC Hero, congrats. I will also need more friends so we can help each other together to develop the Android community here.

For now, if you guys have gone to the marketplace, you guys must have realized that you can only see "FREE" apps and the paid apps are not displayed at all. The reason for this is, Android Marketplace is designed dynamically to offer paid apps only to the country that they want to support. This is analyzed using the provider band that you are using.

There are several ways to do this hack. Before this, I had to develop a custom userinit.sh file to change the band, but now you guys have an easier option. Use Market Access.

To do this, download this application:
Download Market Access

and install it using your file manager. You can download the ASTRO file manager or Linda File Manager from the marketplace (both are free) to install this app.

Once you have done that, run the application. In the main interface, select "Backup Settings" **VERY IMPORTANT!
Once you have saved your settings, go to the second tab, and select "T-Mobile [US]" (its my favorite). Tap this and a menu will load. Select "fake this provider now". Thats it.

Now, go to your Android Marketplace, and browse all the paid apps which might desire you smile.gif

Once you are done marketing, to enable your actual network provider as your provider back, go to Market Enabler, and hit "restore" and then exit the application. Thats all. Alternatively, just restart your phone and Android will reset your network to its original point. Nifty eh?

Thanks smile.gif Hopefully it can be useful to someone smile.gif

Btw bro, try using my other tute later to install the new linux kernel (instead of using swap partitions). Swap partitions will damage your SD card over time smile.gif

No..its not even simulation game..Its just like "virtual race"..You have to upgrade your car, get more respects, have more crews, then you race to earn money, or challenge someone real world..The results are predicted by whose account has more "advantage". Winner can rip money from the opponent which has not banked in.

Its really addictive as you play on..

For G-sensor racing, I like "Head-to-Head racing". I even bought the PRO version already wink.gif

Yes,by pushing a userinit.sh files to change some identifiers. You will need the identifiers for both your phone and the provider that you want to fake to. Its all done by marketenabler already.

Added on November 22, 2009, 7:05 pmTo those who are having problems with the Market Enabler, please read the first post. I have added an EDIT section. Read that before you post any questions.

Use Astro File Manager on your Android. Find the APK file. Then install it. It will work.

It also depends on the network you choose. Some paid apps are available on certain networks only smile.gif

Your computer can't read it anyway..That file is the installer for the applications..You do not need root usually but it depends on the app you are trying to install..You can move it to your SD card and execute it through the file manager and install it..

apps are only considered "safe" if they are installed through the Market..If you manually install, first you need to enable the third-party apps option..Only then install it..There is no restriction on the installation, but you are responsible if you install it form the external source and not market..

That is a feature of Market itself..You can browse either the free stuff or the latest stuff..people like free stuff..and google made it that way for their ease..

If you can see paid apps, then it means you've succeeded..Thats the only difference between with ME and without ME..

C-note..Wrong..Definitely wrong..100% wrong..We don't root for paid apps..Paid apps just happen to be a working solution for root users..That is what iPhone has taught the people so far - jailbreak just for the apps because that is all what iPhone has - APPS!

The things that you can do when you have root is WAY more than this. First, you can partition your SD card so you can install your apps (ANY APPS) on SD card instead of the phone memory. Advantage? Save phone memory..lol..

Second, when you have root access, you can flash custom ROMs which optimizes your phone way beyond what ths stock rom can do. You can tweak the trackball color, you can tweak the CPU, you can do backups, you can even have applications that can save your pone in case something goes wrong (very long explanation which I won't do here), and a lot more.

Welcome to Android family. The place where we customize the phone way beyond than just apps wink.gif

Hope that helps~

Yep, you need root for market enabler smile.gif

Don't worry my friend, give it a couple of week more and it will be rooted. Nexus One was rooted before it was even officially launched..lol..So there is no reason why Legend will not be rooted soon smile.gif
