cool, thanks - those pics look very good. does the optical out work, does it play advertised media (esp ISOs) properly I guess are important items to note. how is the networking - easy or hard etc

thats why taking so long the review .. bdmv bluray files have to play manually .. where u got to go into the directory of the bluray and pick the mt2s files ..
I ripping my bluray disc to iso format to see whether it works or not ..

wah why your transfer so slow? 7+MB/s.. there was a driver bug that limits the transfer speed.. if you using higher speed drive..

its up to 13mb/s now ..the speed slowly increasing
using on winxp ..and beta version..

I am getting one unit from Yangxi for my friend. This unit doesn't have a slot for an internal HDD, but that is not a problem. I am very keen to see if it will handle BD-ISO files. Our POHD will only get that after the next FW, not the current one on beta testing now. For the price of RM350 for this 'low end' media player, I think you can't go wrong, unless it is found to be like the WDTV which is unable to handle some of the MKV files.

Sorry, does it passthru lossless audio codecs?

is it the MKV files it cannot handle or the DTS stream inside it? won't matter if you are connecting to a receiver, but if you are only using stereo out then you need an internal DTS decoder

the spec looks ok for 1073. And honest enuf not to claim truehd decode yet.

will it be able to play blue ray disc connected by external blue ray drive via usb?

I don't have any BD iso file or other 20-30gb mkv movie.. please test for me..

I research all Realtek1073 manufacture, only Diyomate price cheapest.
any different with AC-Ryan , Asus ? RM350 VS RM650

you need to educate them that that single chip really controls every expect of decoding performance.. so USD99 or RM650 ...all function similarly as far as playback is concern..

firmware can only unlock some features or provide window dressing on the main start menu... but at heart they are all the same...

it's limited modification to add limited function.. if not why all look the same when access the HDD sub menu, copy files etc.. dun say all the different engineers from all these different companies dunno how to use linux to make it look totally different from each others brand?

Manual says can access WORKGROUP in the LAN... does this mean cannot enter \\192.168.x.x\Movie Folder... which is on a NAS? WORKGROUPs are Microsoft's network, but my NAS is not a MS machine!

Don't worry! Realtek based players normally have a reset switch or combination of key press to go into fail safe mode. Why don't you get from your supplier?
