u focus on wrong area? and try using F2.0 or F2.5, at such distance, the DOF is very shallow for F1.4

mike..did u crop the photo?..seems to me that all the details are very blur and oof...

its not bad if your subject is static.. fast moving subjects will give u a bit of a speedbump

How much u paid for it? Adapter?

I got 2 M42 lens too, the Helios 44M and the Helios 44-2, and also the focus confirm adapter.

Initially i was very excited about this lens, but after a while I think its really not that useful at all.  The hit rate with it is very low as most of the shot appears out of focus and at the wide aperture the picture appear soft.  I got sharper image only at F4 and above which defeat the purpose of having a fast prime..  Also the manual focus is very hard to use with the A300 small viewfinder.

Since I have the SAL18250, I really don't see myself using the helios anymore as the SAL18250 produce much sharper images and better color yet the autofocus just makes life a lot easier.  Everything is just so much better with the SAL18250.

Just my opinion.

yea..first shot looked a lil bit too desaturated for me..

composition wise..im on moo's side.....it doesnt really make it interesting...or attact the viewer's(my) attention..any specific reason u choose to let those leaves infront of the flower to block it instead of finding another angle?
