Where did you see the current balance of RM240 ? Usually in our bank book, if you account balance is RM250, then RM250 will be printed there. But if you view your account information online, the available balance is the balance you can withdraw while the current balance will show the gross balance including the minimum RM1 deposit must be kept at all time in your savings account plus any other on-hold debit card transactions.
From the account screenshot you posted earlier, the account information displayed is correct.

As you can see above, you have RM300 inside your Public Bank savings account. The hold amount is RM157.50, which is the US$46 that you charged into your card. After deducting RM157.50 from your current balance, you still have RM142.50 in your account but only RM141.50 is displayed as your available balance. This is because there is the RM1 that you must keep in your account at all time and you will not be able to withdraw this RM1 unless you close the account.

Then you should go Public Bank and ask them why is it so. It should be RM250 and from the screenshot you posted, there is nothing wrong with it.
No. This is impossible as it is absolutely FREE to open a savings account with Public Bank. All you need to pay is the annual fee for the ATM or VISA debit card which will be charged upfront.

By the way, since the payment to PayPal has been posted as it shows USD$1.95=RM6.28 and the hold amount now left is only RM150.88. Wait for a few more days until the RM150.88 is posted into your transaction history.

No. the bank passbook is free of charge. Penalty only applies when you go to get a new one due to loss of your existing one or badly worn out passbook. Replacement due to finish pages is free too.

By the way, if you compare the informations in the screenshot you posted earlier today and the one just posted, you'll notice that some adjustment has been made to your account.

As of early this morning, the hold amount is RM157.50. But once they posted the PayPal payment into your account, which is RM6.28, the hold amount left is only RM150.88. Actually if you deduct the RM6.28 from RM157.50, it should be RM151.22 and not RM150.88 but now it shows a hold amount of only RM150.88.

This was previously discussed in the previous thread about Maybank VISA debit card. They actually hold more than what the user charged into his card but once Maybank posted the payment into his account, the remaining balance is credited back into his account.

If you intend to apply for any of the debit cards listed below, then no. You do not need to open any savings or current account with Public Bank. You only have to fill in the application form, mail it to their credit card HQ or submit it through any of their branches. It takes a few weeks for you to get the card.

However, if you want to get the Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card, you will have to open a PLUS Savings Account with them. This card is issued right away at the branch. No waiting at all and it is linked to your savings account.

1.) I want to know does this card need to register? coz i receive a mail ask me to register in rhb website.in that mail it also give me access ID and access password. but the problem is I dunno where to put that access ID and password.I found something in website but it only for credit card. it ask 2 put credit card number which is i dun have.

2.) and can this debit card use for online transaction? ebay etc.?

I thought yellow passbook is for kid's account ? Mine is totally in red. The passbook for my PLUS Savings Account is already shown in my previous post.
Of course they have to charge it under debit because it is a debit card. The machine will be automatically recognized the card as debit card without the cashier entering anything to it.

All ATM cards with either VISA/Mastercard logo printed on the front will not required you to enter your PIN number when you use it to pay for any bills.
Probably because they have ran out of Basic Savings Account passbook when you opened your Basic Savings Account then. So they just gave you the PLUS Savings Account passbook.

It is alright actually. Many banks in other countries also now only issue debit card to their account holders. You just need to be extra careful. If you happen to do many online transactions with your PBB D2D VISA debit card, i suggest you open another account with Public Bank (Basic Savings Account or Wadiah Basic Savings Account-i). Only transfer the money to your PLUS Savings Account when you need the money. This is what i am doing at the moment.

May be they have changed their policy just recently as this was previously not possible. Other people here know about it too.

As a matter of fact, i think i posted both my PLUS Savings Account passbook and Basic Savings Account passbook and someone (could be bingozero or someone else) posted his super rare savings passbook issued by Public Finance. I hold two savings account with Public Bank. Anyway, i'll repost it here. I'm too lazy to dig out the old post.

When i opened the Basic Savings Account a few months ago, i was asked if i want to link it to my existing Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card. I chose not to. Besides, it's not that i have to pay for the additional MEPS ATM card since it comes free with the Basic Savings Account anyway.

Cash withdrawal at any Public Bank ATM is totally free. However, if you do the cash withdrawal at any other local, foreign or overseas banks, you'll be charged RM10 each time you do so.

I believe it works more or less the same as PBB VISA Electron. To withdraw cash, you need to select credit/debit card, then select cash advance. It's not really cash advance. It is just the way it works for a standalone debit card. Three years ago when i still had their PBB VISA Electron, their ATM did not allow me to select the amount of money i wish to withdraw. Instead, when i selected "cash advance", it automatically dispensed RM200 to me. Not sure if it works this way now.

It belongs to the retail category. Anyway, yours is a Day2Day VISA debit card right ? This card gets rebate on everything including petrol purchases.

I've successfully swiped my Public Bank Day2Day VISA debit card a few times at Jaya Jusco supermarket in Mid-Valley Megamall.
