Actually I didn't buy finally because after I sold off the pioneer I used the money to buy the AC Ryan POHD. Till today still waiting for the promised HD Audio feature (Which I have already given up hope on). Without the HD audio from the POHD, I will put on hold my purchase of the AVR. I am still using my old Dolby/DTS 5.1 Sony AVR for now.

btw, I originally bought the 819 because I also thought like you it should at least allow the MCACC calibrated settings (The equalizer part) to be manually adjusted. Turned out they cut cost on the feature of the 819.
