We already did. You can;

a) Get an OEM copy of the desired version of Windows 7 you wish to use.

b) Get a laptop that comes pre-installed with Windows 7

c) Use an open source OS like Linux.

Don't bother about MS Office and the extra you need to pay for it. Open Office can do everything MS' paid version does.

Hi all.
I bought this desktop for RM2k on August (just 2 months ago)
I am very happy with the performance. It matches exactly what I am looking for fast and realible, I am very happy with it. For me, it worth the RM2k I spent on it.
Basically, I enjoy the computer smooth and fast performance, and the built-in Intel G31 work good for all my daily need. So, I really don’t need an independent graphic card.
My main propose is internet surfing, Microsoft office, some photo editing, facebook gaming and watch DVD movie.
Configuration:
Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (2x3.0GHz 1066FSB 3MB Cache)
Asus P5KPL-AM
1TB SATA 2
2x2GB DDR2 800 Dual Channel
Logitech Keyboard Mouse
Asus 20x/8xDL/14x DVD Ram

Well, I am going to buy another laptop.
I am looking for similar performance as above. Smooth and fast performance, a built-in graphic card is enough.
My main propose is still the same, internet surfing, Microsoft office, some photo editing, facebook gaming and watch DVD movie.
Please suggest me any notebook that suit my need.
But Intel processor only, Intel served me very well for past 5 years, I am happy with it.
Budget: RM2k – RM3k
battery power consumption is not important for me also

well, for under 3k, the best processor you could get is p8600-p8700, which is around 2.4-2.5GHz
samsung r470, which has basic nvidia gpu g105m.

you might want to ugprade the hdd to western digital scorpio black 320GB 7200rpm WD3200BJKT for better performance.
since mobile hdd is still slower than desktop hdd.

acer 4937G had p8700, but not sure still available or not.
benq s42 also has p8700 and nvidia 9600m gt, overkill for your needs, but sells at rm 2999 near my place.
lenovo, >3k.
dell, inspiron 13 at rm 2999, inspiron 14/15 by customize it.
hp, would be only p7450.
fujitsu, >3k.
asus, >3k.

well, for me, its not, since at that price, I can get benq s42 with p8700 and nvidia 9600m gt,
but are you always maxing your processor usage?

I've been looking at that asus ul30 x5 for a looong time already! How much is it right now? It doesn't have a DVD burner though..Hmmm...How much to buy another standalone dvd burner?

I don't really trust acer, as i've heard many complaints about them...
