can you list down the spec for fujitsu s6421 and vaio sr55?
if we are seeing the same spec, go with fujitsu, since your usage mostly just office, watching movies, right?
the intel gpu is fine for those usage.
Unless you need it for some gaming or graphical intensive program, go with vaio sr55.

any idea how long battery life you might need?

p series doesn't mean its faster that t series.
Its just that in maximum usage, p series can be cooler than t series, but in idle, they are pretty the same.
but do remember, faster processor doesn't make the computer respond faster, its will be noticeable only when doing cpu intensive application.
as for normal usage, any core 2 duo is capable to do it smoothly.

the fujitsu is enough for your usage, don't need to pay more for the vaio sr55.

But do you want to consider cheaper alternative?
such as dell inspiron 13z or asus ul30a, acer travelmate 8371, acer aspire 3810T.
they cost roughly less than 3k except acer 8371, but can achieve 6 hours++ with reasonable performance for your usage plus its lighter at 1.6-1.7kg.

budget? screen size?

screen size and weight and battery life expectation and gaming level do you expect.

studio xps 16 for rm 3999

you buy macbook if you want to use mac osx, if want to game, stick with windows laptop.
you can get better spec with the price of a macbook.

don't get xps, its old model.
if you are talking studio xps 16, yes it is good, but it would set you back 4k and it is 15.6''

what's the limit of budget?
take look at dell alienware and sager.

well, they have different price range.
the toshiba if you want to game.

but if you can afford the dv3, consider benq s57.

su4100 is intel processor, underclocked and undervolted core 2 duo processor
acer 1410T and acer 1810TZ should be around 1.5k-1.9k

about lasting 3 years, its depends on how the user take care of it
take inspiron 14 or inspiron 13 if want lighter notebook and up the warranty to 3 years, at least, can have less worry for the next three years.

that's a fine choice also
