QUOTE(zhuan97 @ Dec 5 2009, 10:48 AM) well, G102M not much better than Intel onboard graphic... corrected... if u r willing to add RM101, better get Toshiba L510-S438, pre-installed with Vista Home Premiun, but include free Win7 Home Premium upgrade dvd, plus free 2nd & 3rd year local warranty. This model has much better graphic, ATI 4570. honestly speaking, for tosay;s use, G 102M and G 105M are juz too weak for gaming... with only 8SP, it still ok 2yrs ago, but now it's only good enuf for HD videos and probably flash... i would suggest Lenovo G450 with T6600 and G 210M... rm1999 (may be cheaper) with FreeDos... Added on December 5, 2009, 11:30 am QUOTE(Charizard @ Dec 5 2009, 11:22 AM) I want to ask, how can I know how good is a laptop's heat dissipation? Because i bought a toshiba, its restpad there often get very hot easily within 40 min.. Or any brand of laptop has better heat dissipation? it's pretty hard to know... it really depends on the maker, and read reviews to have a better understanding...generally speaking, Asus actually does a pretty nice job in heat control... in terms of performance, Studio 15 > U80V > Studio 14
in terms of weight, U80V < Studio 14 < Studio 15 |

Studio 15's HD4570 is GDDR3... verified by uers...
anyway, rm100-200 more and u can get BenQ s42 with 9600M GT... DDR3 dun offer any significant performance gain over DDR2... and DDR2 will still be the mainstream for abt 1 more yr.. |

QUOTE(ruggers @ Dec 6 2009, 01:13 PM) 1)Budget= rm4000 max Asus U80V... P8700/P8800 with HD4570, 14", 2.1kg, 5hrs of battery...2)Usage= AutoCAD(important),ms word,a little bit of gaming 3)Size/Weight= lightweight and long lasting battery 4)Brand= any any recommendation guys? QUOTE(giaogiao @ Dec 6 2009, 01:32 PM) Need recommendation, guys. BenQ S42 gets my vote... P8700, 9600M GT, hybrid graphic for longer battery life (4hrs), and comes OS-less as well/...Purpose: Photo processing. Photoshop. Gaming. Budget: Around RM3K. But don't go too far away. Priority (Most Important > Less Important): Processing Speed > LCD colour accuracy (Size doesn't matter) > Battery Life > Storage > Gaming graphics Considering (Recommend me similar ones, if there is! - Dell Studio 14 (2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 4Gb 1066MHz Ram, Radeon HD 4530, HD 720p WLED Display, 6 cell 56WHr / 5200 MAh batt) - Acer Aspire Timeline 4810TG (Centrino 2 Proc 1.4Ghz, 800MHz FSB, 2Gb Ram, Radeon HD 4330, CineCrystal LED-backlit TFT LCD, 6 cell 5600MAh batt) - Asus UL80VT (1.3GHz C2D Proc, 4Gb Ram, Nvidia G210M, Widescreen HD LED LCD Display, 12 hours battery life) Questions: (1) I got the genuine Windows 7 Professional Edition already. Got NON-OS from these companies? Last time when I bought my Acer, there is. (2) Heard that Dell batteries can only last for a year? [Here] (3) G210M got so keng meh? Can play what kind of games ar? Resident Evil 5, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2? or if can spare another rm400, Asus U80V... P7450, HD4570, 5hrs of batt... Added on December 6, 2009, 2:42 pm QUOTE(giaogiao @ Dec 6 2009, 02:39 PM) Btw, does the processor's FSB effects a lot? if performance is wat u need, definitely go for higher FSB... it allows for a more responsive system...Am comparing 800MHz FSB with 1066MHz FSB, and also DDR2 with 1066MHz DDR3 Ram. Having hardtime in choosing the between two similar models. as for RAM, DDR3 dun give u any significant performance gain, and price of DDR2 is set to go south again after a crazy year... QUOTE(miaofen @ Dec 6 2009, 02:58 PM) Im planning to buy studio 15 over benq s42 cos i can apply for extended 3 years warranty in case anything happens to the notebook. Is there any much big different in terms of ddr2 3gb and 4 gb? i would say go with 4GB, even if u re using 32-bit OS... it's the norm now... |

both are roughly the same gaming wise... but GT 240M have a slight advantage, in both raw performance and driver... but for that price of 5935G, u can consider Dell SXPS16 as well...
S42, nope, u can't customize... u can consider Sony Vaio CW16 though, also P8700 and 14", but GT 230M... |

QUOTE(cjack3 @ Dec 6 2009, 05:54 PM) hmm if i save up my current budget for later purchase i might be able to afford UL80VT...and I've been seeing a lot of people mention the BenQ S42...is it really that good? Is it good for gaming? How much is it? should be rm2999 or 2899, i think i ve seen as low as rm2699 also...anyway, although the spec may be old (9600M GT), it's still 1 of the highest performance 14" laptop in the market... |

QUOTE(luenn @ Dec 7 2009, 02:48 PM) hello.hello. there's BenQ S42 for rm2699... P8700, 9600M GT, 14" 1280x800...so overall studio 15 dell is still leading under 2.7k for gaming , assignment , see movie ,play songs , and surfing web . and run smoothly in everything ? newbie here.>< QUOTE(lostasylum @ Dec 7 2009, 03:01 PM) hey guys, i need to get a new laptop for my father in law and i'm thinking of getting him a dell inspiron 1420.... he just needs it to check his work stuff and surf. no need any hard core specs. imho Inspiron 15 would be better... since the resolution is unchanged but at larger dimension, the fonts will appear bigger as well...i initially thought of getting him a netbook, but i scared he cannot see cause it may be a little too small for him.... any advise? the budget hopefully can get below RM2k. if cannot, max also is RM2.5k up the graphic to HD4330 for a perfect budget media player... |
