nah...
the "Centrino" brand name has been relegated to be a name for the next gen wireless adapters instead...
in the future it's juz Core... i7 for hardcore, i5 for performance, i3 for mainstream, Pentium for value...
it's 1 of the 2 weirdest decisions that Intel has made this yr, the other being having 2 sockets for the consumer desktop market...

it would probably be value considering there's no Pentium product line in the mobile market...
probably in the manner of C2D + GM45...

well, u can install Windows using a thumb drive instead of DVD, that's an alternative...
it's faster than using DVD from my own experience... on my laptop with T9550 and 4GB RAM, 15-20mins is all that it takes...

QUOTE(Dellxps16 @ Dec 6 2009, 10:26 PM) I am going to Australia next year. I most likely using the laptop for many hours + downloading...... Downloading very huge files from direct server or torent may take 1 or 2 days...Considerating Core 2 Duo T9600 Processor, but core i7 720QM still more worth it... i can confirm it will take more than that... u should see how the Aussies complain abt their ISP speed...

i guess, getting from Dell Online is the safest and lowest price, especially if u re aiming for the i7 config...
to be honest, u can't expect any discounts for new technologies, and Dell themselves do have promotions from time to time..

well, if using a PSU with more watts doesn't solve the problem, it means that the hardware has overheated and thus the throttling...
the root of the problem is cooling...

XPS M1330, and XPS M1530, problem are becuz of the GPU...
i would say, unless u know that the apps u use would benefit from HTT, stick to C2D otherwise...

it's not really problems, rather, whether a Core i7 CPU can show it's true performance depends largely on software optimization...
if an app has been optimized for HTT, u'll see up to 30% performance gain (clock for clock), however if it's not, u'll see performance drop instead...
and unlike the desktop variants, which have high clock speed to fall back on should HTT is not being utilized, the laptop variants are severely low clocked, and thus, if HTT is not being used, it would perform worse than a C2Q or high clocked C2D...
so the qn u need to ask urself is, is HTT going to be an important feature to u... if yes, go ahead and grab i7, if not, u'll ve better performance using the older C2D...

There's also a Core i5 2.26GHz Quad-core next year with turbo i think? lol.. all the quaddies of the new generation has come out already... watever comes out next yr would be all dual cores...

Added on January 3, 2010, 1:17 pmbtw, when u say i7, pls make urself clear if u re referring to the dual core or quad core version...

QUOTE(zorbyss. @ Jan 6 2010, 11:20 AM) Guys. I hate my laptop. I love it while it's new. Since when I kena trojan (cleared it about a month ago), everything was a total difference. The performance goes to the bottom in both gaming and multi-tasking I play my CoD4 smoothly with med settings, now I'm playing a lagged shit even in lowest setting. What's worse? When I was halfway using the laptop, all of a sudden, the laptop goes really really slow and lagging. The CPU shows a 9X% usage. I was like WTH? And the restart takes me 10mins. What's the WORST? The computer can go hanged (just stucked, nothing I can do but just plug off or hold the power key to off it and reboot it back), this happens randomly, and it starting to be often as time goes on. Besides performance, build quality was a crap after a few months I bought the laptop, the side area of the lid seems to be peeled off (not really PEEL off, just some kinda loosen up), and the screen's side which has a round-like light, that started to get so-called loosen up too. When I closed the lid, it appears that it cannot be closed completely it's like there are still spaces in between. Also, the battery cannot be locked, I can't any hear and ticking sound when I inserted the battery and I can just pull it out without triggering the lock. LOLs. I found something funnier. Which I was playing my online game halfway, an ant just crawl across my screen. OMG, I tried to check the screen and I found that the side of the screen cover was opened (I don't know how, might just the bad build quality.) What should I do? Call the Dell guys? I could really explain the status of the laptop with my bad english. Reformat it myself? My warranty has about 5 months to go. I found this really annoying and irritating. Help me. reminds me of dackson's case...

yes, Intel's latest GMA HD is integrated in the dual core flavour of Nehalem, for both desktop and mobile...
however, in order to use GMA HD, the mobo chipset used has to be HM55 or HM57...
PM55 and PM57 do not (i repeat: DO NOT) have the necessary bus to connect to GMA HD and the relevant display output as well...
