Yup, the "red tint" of camera photos is a known issue, seems to most apparent when used in auto mode, and can be reduced by using Outdoor/indoor modes etc:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=584675

HTC's camera really is consistently disappointing smile.gif

Even the prototype/preview version of Xperia X10 camera is miles ahead:

my pass experience , thread sms never work well on WM6.5, like mention if you have alot of sms then it will take age to load all message on screen, so i think its OS problem.

its a good news then, so we all could hold on untill HTC come up with better fix.

And a handful of other problems as well: sad.gif

Yup, some issues don't happen right out of the box. Eg, from the XDA threads, the Volume Up issue happens after about a day, and the SMS sending/receive issue happens intermittently. cry.gif

Also, possible to check the camera photo for "red tint"? Can be noticed by viewing on the HD2 screen or only noticeable on PC?

Seems like a Christmas rush job by HTC. Else they should've fixed the problem earlier, as the "red tint" problem appears in pre-release test sets as well. No wonder there are so many problems reported at XDA rclxub.gif

Now the camera issue has hit the headlines http://www.gsmarena.com/a_hardware_fault_c...d-news-1276.php .. let's see when they acknowledge there is a MAJOR issue with SMS sending as well.

nghj,
I have the N82 too, the camera is absolutely brilliant and nightshots are amazing... the HD2 camera is MILES behind. Looks like I'll have to stick to my N82 and 838Pro for a while longer smile.gif

To test the camera, activate it and point to white surface/wall.. red tint can be seen on the display/viewfinder if the set is defective.

As for the SMS issue, if there is a problem, some SMSes may get stuck in Outbox and not sent out properly.

I see that the sets reported to have problems with camera and SMS have the 1.43.xxx.x ROM.

Whats the difference represented by the numbers (1.48 and 1.43)? Revisions? Geographical? Does this mean our ROM is newer/improved?

Anyone can try taking photo of a white paper without flash and confirm once and for all whether there is a problem or not. Thanks.

hmm.... so the sms function ok ?? i mean send sms / received sms ....

May only get some feedback after using for a few days as the problem happens randomly (some suggest it happens after the phone switches between GSM/3G/EDGE etc... not sure tho).

From one of the above post, the ROM is 1.48.xxx.x ... compared to those having problems in europe, the ROM mostly 1.43.xxx.x .... so, does that mean we have newer/improved ROM ??

Can we update the ROM on our own, when new version is available? Can be done easily? Or must return to shop?

Does the screen sometimes register keypresses even if you're not touching it OR not precise? Maybe need this patch:

not good.... same like my old cruise.. wondering why is it like that?

Thanks. Oh well, HTC is still lacking in the media/entertainment dept (camera, radio, audio etc).

Regarding a question I asked earlier... can we easily flash/upgrade the ROM ourselves when new version is available? Or must return to store?

Hmm...noticed there's no vibration nor ringtone when I receive a new text message, tried turning it on and off and a soft reset but still no notification
*
Huh?? You mean, by default. there will be no sound at all for incoming SMS??

How about:
Settings > Sounds & Notifications > Notifications > Messaging: New Text Message

Is the "Play Sound" box ticked?
