Video editing software mostly depends on ram and cpu, while graphic card only being used if the software support it. If got little budget, the best choice is to throw lots of ram.

I have to change the stock fan every year. To minimize overgeating issue, i had to reduce my graphic settings when gaming.

i found 2 laptops with very similar specs and prices

the biggest difference is CPU:

Intel Celeron N3050 vs N2840

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Celeron-N305...l-Celeron-N2840

now i'm not sure i want go for more cache or higher clock speed
which one more important? hmm.gif

Late but is 8GB enough for video editing or is it recommended to go for 16GB?

Both are utilized for different tasks and both are quite important. It all depends on the software that is being run or type of tasks to determine which is one is more important or affects performance more.

Since both CPUs are from the same product family and have the same number of cores/threads, go with the higher gHz. Cache is used to store bits of data that may be frequently required for a program. Data that's kept in the ram takes some time to access (latency) so there's cache, memory space on the cpu die itself that makes important bit available for quick access.
