For AMEX Plat, is it possible to use the latest Maybank balance transfer scheme (12 months at 0%)??
*
Think it is for Maybankards only, but you can try calling in and check

don't see it on the websites. Did not get any mailer as I am e-statement. Good choice to upgrade if it is so. Anyone can put up a scan?

Hello guys, I've try out this yesterday at Jusco Supermarket by using my AMEX platinum credit card, with the amount of RM37.95.  I  checked my

points thru M2U this morning, and it really provide 5x points.  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

So next comming out, I will try out at petrol station, bookshop and cineplex, to comfirm the 5x points is available at these place by using the

AMEX platinum credit card.
But one thing I do not understand, when I called to the AMEX CS, they told me that AMEX plat cards are not entitled to the 5x points at those

places.  hmm.gif
*
ooo if it is really true, can apply for upgrade d.... Maybe it is a short term thing?

still no scans of the Amex brochure? this is the weakness of e-statements

Edit: Just called in. CS confirms this is an ongoing promotion. Seems like grocery and petrol may be a permanent feature but the rest is a likely a month to month ongoing promotion.

Since Amex Platinum Credit card also has 5x Membership Rewards points now, is it advisable to upgrade from Gold Amex CC to Platinum CC?

My main concern will be the RM 800 annual fee. Is it waivable just by calling Maybank Customer service?

My annual spending ion amex in not much. around 12-14k/year
*
Am worried abt the annual fee as well. Only decide next year whether to upgrade or not. Just to see whether the 5x promos are permanent.
The only benefit on top of the gold card right now is 10x plat partners (which I don't go often if at all) and the lounge access...

i have no idea what the Amex CS is talking about because i received this mailer recently and it clearly states that platinums get 5x points. Please see the attachments. Taruh CS kau-kau.
Thanks teoanne. Good to see it is exactly the same features of the Gold CC.

Wow, if that's true, Amex Platinum charge and credit card can now enjoy 5x MR points (as what Amex Gold cc features) + 10x Platinum Partners!
*
Only headache is the RM800 AF. Alec.yong, did u manage to get it waived?

I also think of upgrading my Amex Gold cc to Platinum cc after the 15% cash back has been credited into my account in full, if the AF can be waiveable and the bank is giving 10,000 points to offset the service tax.
It is only applicable to principal cardholders.

Arr darn.. i was thinking of upgrading next year after the 15% promotion.. forgot the lead time to credit the cash back :S

no, it's applicable for both basic and supp.
Can't find any mention of Plat CC being able to access the lounge @ KLIA. Only the Platinum Card. Also no mention about supplementary..

edit: on american express website. Found a mention on M2U.

found a mention on plaza premium's site http://www.plaza-network.com/index.php/loc...ns/kuala-lumpur

Thanks bro, I'm thinking if I should cancel my card or utilize it for 15% cash back promotion before canceling... my card anniversary is on January...
*
takes 4-6 weeks to actually credit the 15% Cashback so you may not see any cashback yet by January...

Hi forumer...

I received a phone call from service centre; offer me AMEX gold Ikhwan card (Maybank).

I just accept because its a card with lifetime waiver fees. I yet to received the card.

But, to think again, is it true that most retailers use Visa/mastercard facilities rather than AMEX?

I have a Visa, which so far is the best for me. If i received amex, I intend to terminate my VISA or vice versa...

Anyone can help me? icon_question.gif
*
don't terminate the Visa. AMex acceptance in Malaysia still quite poor (primarily due to high merchant charge)

All right, i could say many retailer avoid AMEX facilities.

So, which transaction best for me to use AMEX? i think the costs that i will bear for that AMEX card is just the tax right? 50 per year or RM4.17 per month.

Just need an opinion.
*
Not sure which Visa you have or whether Amex Ikhwan is Free For life, but you should use the Amex where ever it is accepted due to its 2x points for basic transactions.
Most places that accept are large places. Also good for telco payments.

I think Amex Ikhwan is giving 5x points for petrol and groceries too.. need to ask david83 on that.

It is worth taking the AMEX Plat cc since 1st year AF is waived

I am tempted since the Gold CC offers are now part of Plat offers as well (temporary? permanent?) but looking to try and upgrade to avoid paying GST twice (as I will only upgrade once I get all the 15% cash backs)
