@clsia1001,
No the 5X points promotion is not applicable @ GSC & TGV. And people, don't forget to cancel the CCs come end December; U don't want to be slapped having to pay RM50 Service Tax.

@MilesAndMore,
Any news recently on what Amex is going to do to keep their members happy? I've once again busted my CL last/this month *siGh* Gonna call and ask if they can waive the damn RM50 for me !! keKkekeKekEKke smile.gif

@WoodStock,
I will probably speak to the bank only in the month of December. It would be great if they can find a way to waive the RM50 [I do think it's a long shot because the monies must be paid to the government so unless the banks are willing to fork the RM50 it looks like it might be quite difficult to get it waived but no harm trying!]

@winner,
The 15% cash back is limited up to RM150 so it doesn't mean I get 15% discount from whatever is due.

@MilesAndMore,
I sure will.

@clsia1001,
I believe if your spending with the bank is 'substantial' enough, they may be kind enough to look at giving a waiver. Thing is, I need waiver for 2 cards; the Platinum & Gold !

@Shinichi,
Because it's better to get their customers to spend; Y give out waiver to people who're just keeping the card in their CC collection - it's always better to reward those who're spending - that's how the bank earns smile.gif

@Shinichi,
It could be possible penetration rate of Amex is much higher here in the city than out of KL *shrugs*

@winner,
First, the cash back promo is not applicable on the entire bill. Secondly, I'm not that "big" a spender since I no longer make office purchases but I did use up my entire CL for last month and this month - so RM150 is really no big deal, IMO.

@winner,
Assuming I'm getting great service, I really don't mind the RM50 but Y should I pay and get crap service?

I've no idea what you're talking re XXX & VLC. Some times purchases just can't be planned; besides the bulk of it wasn't spent at an eligible outlet.

PS: Maybe my CL is RM1k !! tongue.gif

@vin_ann,
Er.. sales are here all the time; apa mau beli?

I'm aiming to redeem that Tag Heuer watch before I cancel any of my Amex cards though. Hopefully I be able to achieve it by Dec 2009.

@winner,
The bank giving me issues with CS right now is Amex [prob because I've shifted all my spending to it and have had to call them a couple of times in the last 3 weeks]. And by "bad CS" it only means I have to wait really really long before someone attends to my call; in terms of temporary CL I think it's much better than Citibank tongue.gif

Ah well.. anyhow, I've surpassed the CL given to me once again [wOOhOooo I'm on target to redeem that Tag Heuer watch!] and have just requested the bank to increase my CL by 100%; let's see if they'll say yes to that request tongue.gif

@tgeoklin,
I didn't reduce my CL - I just used it all up lah. I'm probably going to keep the Amex but am still waiting to see if the bank will offer to pay the RM50 on my behalf.

Hi peeps,

Just wondering; anyone attending/attended the American Express Night Of Rewards that's taking place right now?! Am thinking if I should go but based on their catalogue there's nothing 'interesting' plus I only have 92k points left un-redeemed.

Hopefully someone can give a quick review on what's taking place there right now so I can decide if I should make that drive to Shangri-la.

@Gen-X,
Yups I've thought about it but when I calculated the cash versus the price of the Tag Heuer I decided it was 'cheaper' to redeem it off the catalogue than to convert the points to cash and buying the Tag *smiles*

Needless to say, cash is always good and that option is always there. Unfortunately, the damn developers don't accept Amex otherwise I'll have another jump in points *siGh*

@winner,
The thing is I prefer accumulating points on me Amex rather than on Visa/MC. I was however fortunate in a sense that when I made that swipe for that property at Ara Hill on behalf of sis, it was my birthday month and SCB was offering a 5x bonus points then *grins*

Too bad it ain't applicable this month *sob sob*

@winner,
Er.. no.. sis is taking a 90% loan so it was 10% downpayment swipe. Unfortunately, they don't accept Amex and neither does SDB. In fact, SDB only allows the RM20,000 booking fees to be paid by Credit Card. The remainder of the downpayment is to be paid off by cheque *siGh*

@winner,
Sime Darby allows the total downpayment sum to be paid off via CC. Unfortunately for me, SDB & Gamuda doesn't allow it so no bonus points for me from there sad.gif

@epalbee3,
Actually, most developers these days would allow you to use CC to pay the booking fees.

@winner,
Sime Darby allows it; I'm pretty sure cause I swiped it on my Visa just 2 wks ago. SDB (Selangor Dredging Berhad) on the other hand only allows the RM20k booking fees to be paid via CC; the rest needs to be paid up via cheque *siGh*

@rockefeller,
Considering my downpayment will come to about RM150k, RM20k is really not *that* much. If only I could swipe everything via Amex then I'll be off to NY soon enuff *g* Alas.. tak boleh....

@intrexpo,
Your guess is as good as ours; we wouldn't know and well..... in my last bill I was still getting the 15% cashback. Also, depending on where you intend to make the purchase, the merchant may not accept Amex. Best to check.

@MilesAndMore,
I think it's probably cheaper to use the points to redeem other stuff in the catalogue than a flight but I could be wrong - i'll do the rough calculations and get back to U smile.gif
