@Optiplex330
Lol I could probably give as many examples as yours to places that accept Amex on my regular usage, but what's the point. As I said, if you find you hardly swipe it, it's not suitable for you, get rid of it. laugh.gif

And to answer your question

@tengcm

Well the plat credit card and Krisfyler cards have travel insurance as well. Only one that doesn't have any mention of it is the Gold Credit Card. Not sure bout Maybank co branded ones

@Optiplex330

The Dell thingie sounds very much like they're trying to discourage you from using Amex; can't think of why the processing should take longer. Should probably complain about such procedures, but since you've used your Alliance, all is good huh tongue.gif

Yea, think Gold CC is the one without travel insurance among the non Maybank co branded ones

@my44:

Charged annually I believe. It's worth it if you're a high roller. If not, the standard 2x points is still more points than a regular credit card

Thanks for your reply. Gonna switch my Digi bill to Amex gold soon rclxms.gif

I think you need to subscribe/enrol through Amex's autopay to be eligible for the 5x. Not too sure bout this though, but I did mine through amex

I think I will do this thru Digi to get RM5 rebate. I not sure if I still can get RM5 rebate via Amex autopay...

HMMM good point,I actually forgot about the RM5. Defintely more worthwhile than the 5x points. Anyone has any clue?

On the 15% thing,

"except supermarkets, hypermarkets, hotels and their F&B and retail outlets."

So..mainly I'll be getting the rebates from departmental stores?

Yea, even meeting the quota of 1 mth (RM150) covers your tax for 3 cards
I've already met quota I think. Offered to sign and take cash from frens when was out with em at certain malls to accelerate the process =p

Yeah I think Amex acceptance is on the up side compared to couple of years back, and most "big" places especially in the Klang Valley accepts Amex now. In the previous month, the only thing I swiped for with my CC instead of Amex was the toll (I pay mine at the counter itself, not at the drive through lanes) and Sushi Zanmai. Everything else I spent on I managed to do it with Amex XD

So far I'm satisfied with my Amex. 90% or more of my expenditure is done with the card. And as many has mentioned, most larger merchants accept them these days, so there's not too much problems if you spend there.

Anniversary date, what does that mean? The expiry month? (like if my card expires April 2014, then I'll get billed coming April?)

I got my Logines today by courier  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif

I am so happy not because I got the actual watch ( I don't even wear a watch nowadays) but more like I got a prize  biggrin.gif

When the contest was launched, I kept smsing but cannot go thru on my 012, then use my wifey 019 then only sms went thru. I charged more than RM8K on the very first day in August to my AMEX CC. On 1st Dec I did also charged RM8K to my charged card but heck I can't remember if i did sent sms for the charged card. I did call in August and was told can only qualify for one card.

The Logines box is really impressive, about a foot long by 6 inches in width and height, until I saw the ugly Logines watch inside, hahaha.

Congrats bro, just in time for christmas =)

On another note, I see the RM150 rebate in my online statement today, for the month of November. It's dated 10th though, lol

In addtion to the above, I believe your card gets blocked till you settle in full, which is why as vamp mentioned, it's a card designed for those who commit to their spending.

Don't think of it as a line of credit (although, you do somewhat get a 1 mth period to settle your purchases if you make ur purchases at the beginning of the statement cycle tongue.gif).

Amex with no co brand logo on it = Membership Rewards points
Amex with co brand logo = You earn the co brand rewards system. eg Treatspoints for cards with "maybankard" on it, and whatever the miles is called for the Krisflyer cards

And yea, the fair is usually a good chance for you to combine MR/TP for redemption purposes, seems like a number of users in the thread has mentioned they were able to do so.

Got another RM150 this month for the cashback thingie in December, so that's a total of RM300, pretty happy with it laugh.gif

Didn't make any big purchases in the outlets this month, so won't be getting anymore tongue.gif
