Noisy or grainy? I notice most movies before 2003 have this effect unless is it retouched like star wars and Fifth Element...maybe after that the producers have better technology to shoot movies.
There are a few ways to tackling this....at an expense of sharpness of course.
Most LCD/Plasma TV have Sharpness control and MpegNR. There is also 3D comb filter.

I don't see any noise in any of the titles you listed. Except for Planet Earth, there are some noise in scenes shot in low-light condition. So that's to be expected anyway. Do you mean the snowy like noise? I've read about this before, they're caused by faulty HDMI cable.

QUOTE(neoardi @ Oct 11 2009, 12:14 PM) One basic setting to ur tv is to set the SHARPNESS to zero... That will make the image appear very soft and will lose details. But if set the sharpness too high, it'll introduce artifacts just like applying EE, and using your TV's DNR will make it even worse making the characters look like wax, just like what happens when the DNR & EE is applied too much during the movie's transfer (i.e. Gladiator). The best is to calibrate properly then you'll get the proper settings. When it's properly calibrated, what you see is just what it's supposed to be. Nothing you can do except play around with the sharpness of both the TV and Player. Go watch Alien vs Predator part 1 , dark scenes so much noice it's really bad. Sometimes more obvious than the DVD itself because the sharpnes of Blu-ray make the noise appear even more clearly.

Cartoons are computer generated/drawn pictures so no problems with noise unlike real movies which are shot with movie cameras which are affected by noise espc in the absense of light.

Try to visit www.dvdbeaver.com and go to review section and select the movie with BD beside the movie titles. Select the movies that you also got and compared the quality of those photos with your own movie shown in you TV. Those photos are directly taken from Blu-ray movie.
