Have you tried doing a full restore? Maybe that could help out a bit. Otherwise, it could be hardware related. I remember last time when I got the first ever iPod Touch, it was defective. One part of the screen is dead (not unresponsive). It doesn't register my touches at all. Nothing can be done except for a swap.
If you're suspecting a calibration would resolve the issue, you should do a restore first. Cause its part of the process. Otherwise, you can try out those file uploading procedures. |

I remember last time when I got the first ever iPod Touch, it was defective. One part of the screen is dead (not unresponsive). It doesn't register my touches at all. Nothing can be done except for a swap. sigh...i know it's a hardware prob. but i'm hoping that by calibration it will enable a wider area of sensitivity so i to register the key. just that single key! =(If you're suspecting a calibration would resolve the issue, you should do a restore first. Cause its part of the process. Otherwise, you can try out those file uploading procedures. its really annoying especially when i have to type in passwords or search via the keyboard and that P letter is not working! btw, in case i can't solve the problem...i can still rotate the screen. So anybody knows of an app that allows the keypad to be rotated in any situation? currently i can only rotate it when i'm typing an sms. other situations like when i'm keying in passwords and searching via the keyboard it wouldn't allow me to rotate the screen. Hope to get more feedback. thank you for your time and have a nice day! =) |

QUOTE(anti-LAx2 @ Oct 10 2009, 10:24 PM) I have a small problem about my iPhone 2g touchscreen...i think its unresponsive. it's something like this: My Ipod touch (1st Gen) used to have this problem where the bottom edge of the touch screen is not responsive at all. I took it to the dealler (Epicenter) as its still in warranty and they change new one for me after 2 weeks.(1) when typing an sms, on a vertical display, only the L letter seems to be unresponsive(this is at the bottom right of screen). (2) Ironically, when I'm typing with another keyboard layout( let's say typing a password for wi-fi) but still in vertical display, this time only the P letter is unresponsive(this is at the middle right of the screen). The funny thing is, at these 2 differing layouts, different parts of the screen becomes unresponsive. Could it be because the calibration of the touchscreen is not accurate anymore? Or is it due to the sensitivity of the screen? The phone is almost 2 years old, it was just transferred to me awhile ago. I would like some advice from the experts here. Is there any way that i can resolve this problem? I searched and came about something called "General.plist" and "Touch.plist" which gives the user the option to set the sensitivity from 0-16, where 0 is the most sensitive. The default sensitivity on the iPhone’s touchscreen is 3.5. OR It changes the calibration of the touchscreen when the ".plist" is installed. where you can choose from -30 to 16. If you select 16, then the part that you are touching is not working but above that part is working. and if you select -30, behind the part you are touching is the one that works. *this .plist was quoted from some forum i googled. i honestly don't know what it means...that's why I'm seeking for help here. Hope i can get some help here. Thank you so much for your time. p/s: please keep in mind that I'm a real newbie in this iPhone kinda things. Kindly explain to me in simple terms please. then the new one also shows same "dead screen area" problem after 1 week of use. They exchange that one too, also after 2 weeks. My advise is to go to your original dealer and send it for repair. Failing that just find any apple store and be prepare financially. My guess is $200 up wards. I think they are talking about jailbroken phones where those files are available via programs that configures and jail brake iphones. It didn't cost me any money for my repairs because my iPod was still in warantty back then. But I did ask the dealer the cost of repair if it wasn't ( which was 200 upwards). So, my question now is...where can i go to repair it? any recommendations? or anybody in this forum providing these services? thanks for the response. =) QUOTE So, my question now is...where can i go to repair it? any recommendations? or anybody in this forum providing these services? THe best place is the place where you bought your iPhone.2nd best is any shops that carries the Apple brand. Epicenter at Pavillion is one. Or the Apple store midvalley. Good luck. |
