Now that you mentioned it, there is a review for MSI Big Bang Trinergy.

Looks good.

That "SLI license" thingy is usually based on the BIOS.. The driver simply looks for the "SLI cookie" in the firmware, and activates SLI if found. The driver hack merely tries to bypass this check. Anyboard can use SLI as long as have dual PCIe slots, just requires the "appropriate" driver activation. tongue.gif

Anyway, some P55 boards can CrossFireX and SLI with x16/x16 lanes, using the NF200. For example: MSI Big Bang-Trinergy brows.gif

WOW!! P55 MOBO with X16/X16 PCI-E Lanes.
Hope can "hack" this ability to my own MOBO but it seems can't though.
My MOBO have physically 2 PCI-E X16 and 2 PCI-E X1 Lanes but once got 2 GPUs put in, it will become X8/X8 right?

Still, the bottlenecks created by X16/X16 vs X8/X8 is too less currently(future sure will have huge impact but now, NO). For my RIG to lose 5% for another HD5870, I can allow since I won't use it for a very long time. When got enough money, I will change to newer PC. Too much things to think already. Hope HD5870 will be very cheap after 1 or 2 years as well as those PSUs also goes very cheap too. LOL.

Yups, your motherboard still uses x8/x8 with 2 GPUs installed. The MSI Big Bang Trinergy motherboard goes around this limitation by employing NVIDIA's NF200 chipset into their design. wink.gif

Another board that uses the NF200 is GigaByte GA-P55-UD7. icon_rolleyes.gif

LOL. Don't worry. All X58 MOBO(LGA 1366 i7 920) have X16/X16 PCI-E Lanes.
NF200 Chipset is very costly. P55 MOBO with NF200 built-in = MONEY BOOMER

NF200 Chipset is for P55 to have X16/X16 PCI-E Lanes. So, they can perform like X58.
With P55 + NF200 + i7 860, it can beats X58 + i7 920.

oo ic X58 already got X16/X16 PCI-E Lanes wherest P55 need NF200 Chipset to get X16/X16 PCI-E Lanes

Added on December 25, 2009, 5:29 pmI found something in wikipedia:

X58 board manufacturers can build SLI-compatible Intel chipset boards by submitting their designs to nVidia for validation. However, users wishing to run more than two Nvidia video cards in PCIe x16 will still need to purchase motherboards equipped with one or more nVidia nForce chipsets. It is still possible to run more than two video cards in an SLI-configuration at fewer PCIe lane widths.[2] The X58 chipset itself supports up to 36 PCI-Express 2.0 lanes, so it is possible to have two PCIe x16 slots and one PCIe x4 slot on the same motherboard

Its a kind of "PCIe multiplier", in other words "creates" more PCIe lanes from existing ones. wink.gif

Nopes, no need at all... The X58 chipset already have full 36 PCIe lanes, enough for full dual PCIe x16 slots plus another 4 PCIe lanes to spare.. brows.gif

They included the DMI link, which is another 4 PCIe lanes tongue.gif . Quote from Wikipedia: Intel X58..
QUOTE
The X58 has 40 PCIe lanes that are arranged in two x16 links, DMI link and "spare"-based link. When used with the ICH10 I/O Controller Hub with x4 DMI connection the "spare" supports a separate x4 PCIe connection. Future southbridge chips DMI may support a wider DMI.
Total PCIe lanes is: 36(X58 Northbridge) + 4(DMI) = 40. wink.gif

Video Quality/Image Quality, DVI and HDMI are the same.
HDMI allows you to output your Audio via the Screen Panel.

Transistors, Die Size, Bus Width and Bandwidth must also take counted too. Basically, GDDR version is connected to Bus Width and Bandwidth.
Nvidia and ATi have different building architectures. So, you can't compare them like that.

I don't know about the Celeron 0.8Ghz and 20GD HDD supports stuffs.

The HDMI allows you to plug-in a Speaker to the Screen Panel to channel the Sound. So, it's not a waste to buy the HDMI Cable totally.
But HDMI Cable is not VITAL for you indeed.

If you're using DVI Cable, you can't plug-in the Speaker into the Screen Panel. Yet, you can just plug-in the speaker into the MOBO(sockets behind your Chassis). If you're using HDMI Cable, you can.

My rig pasang by technician. To enable sound over HDMI must plug the cable from S/PDIF output mobo to Gc. the technician oso not pasang for me.
