Nokia suites are either PC Suite or Ovi Suite, that's all. Since they have 2 suites they named it in general Nokia Suites. I would recommend PC Suite, more stable but ultimately it'll be good to migrate to Ovi Suite stable version since it will be next gen and also supports Mac.

I have had a few Nokia phones before and I felt that battery element is very important, stability and practicality. E52 fulfills this feature at least for me.
*
So confusing so I picked the one with all the names "nokia" and "ovi" in it so I installed Nokia OVi Suite instead. ha.

BTW, how long can the phone battery last running GPS? I doubt this phone battery can last a day.

I have never tested it running GPS the whole day and I don't think I will anyway, I don't intend to use it as a standalone GPS device.
*
I have been playing around with the GPS on and off through out the day, say........total of may be 40 minutes, phone calls for total of <2hrs, about 1 hr of editing contacts etc and the battery can not make it through 2 days. How's yours?

At the end of the 2nd day mine's still got some juice left but bear in mind that I talk via blue tooth all the time so it'll consume more juice. Please also note that the battery has to be run in for about 10 charges for it to be really effective. I'll be happy if I just need to charge the phone every 2 days.
*
Giving it more thought, may be it is the wireless thing.

While I did turn off automatic WLAN scanning, the phone will still automatically download the email "occasionally" so does that mean wifi is permanently on? If yes, how to turn it off?

I used the word "occasionally" because when I wanted it to download email and especially sending email immediately, it wouldn't do it immediately. It will just sit in the "out" box no matter what I do. It will wait a long time or may be even hours before it does so. Still couldn't figure this one out.

How long is your accumulated talk time in those 2 days with bluetooth?

IMO, the rule I stick with regarding anything "computer" and "software". If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I still have this problem with email.

When in home wifi, it will automatically download email until manually asked it to "send and receive now".

When out to send out an email in a hurry or immediately, after you pressed "send and receive now", it will just sit in the outbox and do nothing for quite sometime.

Please, how?

Hi, I come from PG. May I know how is the price of Ori set in PG now? I read all page in this thread. It seem like stable and no more hardware problem.
*
Should be <RM1000. Mine a brand new original set and so far, no problem. Only have a temporary hang once whereby when making a call, the screen went totally bland but recovers by itself 20 seconds later. This phone far exceeded my expectation. GPS with AGPS lock in within 5 seconds. Without AGPS using Garmin, lock in within 20 seconds. Wifi. Read & edit Office documents. Heck, it will even read back your SMS when no time to read them when driving. In any languages you choose. If only it will also make coffee for me.....

Only complaint so far:
1. Voice isn't as loud as low end Nokia both with and without loudspeaker. My other 2700 is almost twice as loud on hands free.
2. Built is not sturdy but if more sturdy, would not have weighted <100gm. So can't really complain about this.

btw, mine is still running the older software version 022.009 even though it was fresh stock direct from official importer.

Voice isn't loud that you mean is earpiece or ringtone?
Latest firmware is 022.099 right? How is the battery life for your unit?
Long lasting as they discuss previous?
By the way, you install Garmin wont broken your warranty?
*
My main complaint is the receiving voice/earpiece isn't loud enough. No problem for indoor receiving but in noisy outdoor, is a bit of problem for my bad hearing.

As for battery. Been learning to use it often so draining battery more than usual lasting 2 days maximum. For pure phone talking with no GPS/Wifi/Bluetooth, I am sure I can get more. Also, the battery is still new so less lasting.

No idea about the warranty issue. But I am sure it will not void the hardware warranty aka normal computer warranty, correct me if I am wrong.

My experience is the exact opposite. The E52 background noise cancellation works very well and when I called standing on the road side with all those cars and motorbike passing by, the person I am calling hear nothing but my voice only. My friends receiving my calls were impressed.

Then is great. Now only concern is cant listen well from earpiece and receiving ring tone. Thanks for your info sharing Optiplex330.
*
Even with my poor hearing, receiving and listening to incoming calls indoor is OK. For outdoor, the best solution is probably a Bluetooth earpiece.

As for ringing tone, not a problem.

Optiplex330, do u encounter frequent garmin crashes when u're using it as reported by some forumers?
*
I suppose like every computer+software, there are crashes. Yes, I have experienced crashes with Garmin more often than with Nokia Maps. I would say, 1 out of may be 10-13 times using Garmin. But the E52 always recovers itself without the need to do a phone power shut down or having to take the battery out for a cold reboot.

Ern maybe you can mention your budget for the bluetooth and what kind of design because there is two type of different design.
*
Can you please elaborate? I have never used Bluetooth before.
My criteria are:
1. Light weight
2. Reliable & no compatibility problem so I was leaning towards Nokia own accessories.
3. Long battery

And what price range are we talking about?

I was told only original set comes with Chinese character.

Mine made in Korea and I don't see anything wrong with it so far, hardware wise

Regarding the Packet Data on this E52.
I have disable AGPS nor allow it to go online. I have never allowed the phone to access Internet except thro' free home wifi. But yet there are some Packet Data usage shown. Where is it coming from? Any idea?

The latest telco bill has not arrived but from calls to their customer careline, I was told 7MB of data was used costing me about RM70. And the phone's own log record did show data being used and yet, I don't know for what purposes. Hence my original question.

how much it cost to install garmin in this phone? the last  i check the price in kl.

AP=cheapest RM 780
Ori=cheapest RM 930

does the AP set comes with LCD warranty as well?
*
Some dealer will pull a fast one on you if you did not specifically ask. When asked, some will admit they only warranty the software. What a joke.

I have been keeping close tab of these packet data usage but it does not seems to be happening anymore so far.

Another thing to watch out is unintended battery leakage. For example, you could open some power hungry applications like Garmin and did not fully exit them. So without you realizing it, Garmin is still running in the background and sucking your battery dry before you know it. I should know because today, it sucked 2 bar of my battery for the past 6 hours before I realized it.

Added on March 31, 2010, 10:20 pmI have encountered 2 strange battery charging problem.

1. Once charging overnight, by the next morning, it is still charging!

2. Once used until battery power low and automatic power saving mode kicks in. Plug into charger and after 3hrs, still charging. Pull the plug off and battery only show 2 bars. Pull out the battery and restart, show full bar but I am certain after using it, it is actually less than full.

Anyone encountered similar?

All smartphone by nature will be more 'scary" than basic model like these Nokia 1202 but then, they are not smart.
