there is no data lock, you can just jailbreak  and change any settings.

i booked mine on the same day too. so anxious to get my set. black tho.. kinda regret. i want white now..

then rely need to ask for the new people to get the phone lo.. if lock data then i think iphone will less demand then before.. bcoz people sign up maxis more on iphone i think.. hehe

i booked mine at klcc maxis center. he din say anything about data lock... what is data lock, really?

just got my 32gb igs today. actually booked 16gb one at garden early on, as cannot wait for the stock arrival...so go to selayang for faster stock. after talk to the iphone salesgal there, find out actually can buy one...straight away buy.... now hve to cancel the 16gb stock.

guys, fyi, i gotten my black 32g 3gs at gardens on the spot. they have ready stocks for both black and white. earlier i have already booked at klcc, and was told needed around 3-4 weeks. called up my friend who works at maxis, the best he can give me a new set would be next week. on fri, went for walk at gardens, passed by maxis, thought of kacauing the sales person, then they told me that they have ready stocks for 32g. din even bother thinking twice, paid and took the phone right away..

there is a fresh delivery for 32gb..When is the delivery for 16gb?

Probably it's another tactic by maxis to clear all the 32GB stocks first before releasing the 16GB.

am on the new batch of 32G 3GS ... and i don't see the menu that allows us to change the APN anymore ... referencing from the website here ... 

pls dun make others worry... actually all maxis iphone 3gs no matter wat batch, u can't manage to c ur cellular network menu.. cz all iphone in malaysia is distributed by maxis, so when they take the iphone from apple, they already set something on it.. to disable the menu. (tis is wat i heard) bt it's nt means tat ur phone is locked. by disable the cellular network menu, one can't view or change their apn cz it's auto set to maxis carrier. unless u change ur simcard to other carrier (eg.. digi or celcom). by tat time ur menu will shown.

tat's y u heard alot of cases tat even those who sign up for data plan or contract ivalue.. their bill shoot up to a few hundreds.. tis is because iphone is such a smartphone.. will cause u to use up ur data even when u r on wifi.. (when ur wifi signal is weak) thn it will auto route to ur data without u noticing it.. unless u enable the cellular menu n change ur apn. (enable the menu doesn't mean we JB the phone. two different things).. once again.. wat is the point of changing the apn since most of the ppl who use iphone/smartphone to on9 everywhere. unless u dun plan to sign up any data plan..

hope tis clear up some of the queries n doubts tat u guys encounter lately..

telco carrier logo is change by ourself (using the step provided in tis forum). it won't show until u copy the file thru itunes into ur phone. u mention tat it show digi n can change the apn?? since u say can change so ?? i dun really get wat u mean tho

i kno wat the use of apn... my phone gt show up the cellular network data menu (tat list out the data apn n mms apn) after i put my carrier logo. hw can u can't try on it when u haven't gt ur phone to put the file??

Added on December 22, 2009, 12:30 pmof cz they won't tell u tat u can change the APN... (they work under Maxis) definitely they wan customer to buy the phone wif their package rite? in fact my phone come wif APN disable as well.. means tat u won't be able to c the cellular data network menu.

when u put maxis sim :
- APN disappear
- Thetering appear

when u put non maxis sim :
- APN appear
- Thetering disappear

WOW I RECEIVED THE SMS FROM MAXIS CENTRE FOR COLLECTION! FINALLY DAYS WAITED = 21 DAYS. YEAH!

I keep on repeating d same answer.I think u still dun get wat I mean tho.I mention earlier in my previous post.only when u use maxis iPhone cellular network menu will b disable.other telco won't cz in Msia iPhone is distribute by maxis n they ask apple 2 disable d apn 2 auto apn.since most of d customer oso use maxis package.they no need 2 change apn unless outright purchase.only when u use maxis line thn ur iPhone haf 2 set d telco logo und?I hope tis clear ur doubts

i am so tempted to cancel my booking in Maxis Center KLCC and go straight up to gardens and get 32GB. I still cant decide..

i booked mine on 14th. i guess we are in the same batch.  

I booked on the same day also but at diff place..lets c who can get it first haha
