Some comments from someone who does 'not' have a home cinema set yet.
I sat near the back and I was very impressed with what I hear during the demo and the sound in fact was just as impressive (if not better) as in any cinema. The sounds effects in some of the scenes sounded so real and at time I could almost feel as if I was in the scene itself. Really nice. However as impressive, I am not too sure if such an impressive setup would suit my needs and my environment. Having said that, many congratulations to Maxx. SVS should be a success in Malaysia. |

I sat at the back in the event but soemhow i feel the lack of punch and dynamics which i felt during HTkaki's hse lol..
Ronaldjoe also shared the same comment but he managed to get another chance to demo it in front and he said that it was superb... my guess is that either Audyssey wasnt calibrated for the back row or the 2 sub setup wasnt enough as the room was quite huge... |

QUOTE(jchong @ Oct 5 2009, 10:30 AM) Well for instance, space constraint. I only have a small room available (roughly 11x11) and my other family members are not too comfortable with 'loud' sounds in the house. |

Last week Saturday,I just attended the SVS subwoofer launching event at Crystal Crown hotel with my wife.My wife was complaining why we could not feel the bass and the vibration even they were demoing 2 subwoofer at the same time which is a super huge sub!Since this Svs sub is been much highly praised in the western country,I was very dissapointed about the sound quality and the lack of bass during the demo! Was it due to lack of calibration or the sub is under power?even my room size 20 x 35 feet length and im using 2 JBL 12ich Sub and my room could feel the bass and vibration when they were demoing the Transformers movie starting scene when the helicopter create alot of vibration and also we can feel the bass when the helicopter landed and the shock wave scene during the helicopter transformation and explotion from the helicopter,I can feel the bass from my sub.But none of this feeling happen during the show at SVS showroom. Is it the SVS sub underpower? And also the speaker is too bright and irritating to me n my wife ears!Is it because of the speaker characteristic or the amplifier characteristic?Even some forum members stated that even from next door they could feel the vibration is all BULLSHIT!as i was in the room i could not even feel it.What actually happen during the demo is up to everybody's opinion. So can i have some comment from other forum members?

I was at the event as well and sat in the 2nd row. Your comments about lack of "shaking' bass is correct and puzzled me as well. The Ron fella did say that the sub's are not running hot so perhaps thats why the bass was dissapointing. I, too, expected much more bass especially with so many subs in the room. I'm using a PB12NSD at home and the bass I get is much better than at the demo, unfortunately. |

I was even more puzzled by your comment or do you mean to tell me evertime you need to run the sub an hour earlier before i should start watching movies.no way my friend. Or maybe SVS should use 4 sub. during the event. By purchasing 4 sub. would be very costly.Or maybe this sub is more suitable for small room?In my opinion such a important event like this, they should calibrate it perfectly even from front to back and every angle of the place before the event start. Now i was wondering whether the review from the oversea is true or BULLSHIT!I think the best way is to listen by yourself AND NOT BY LOOKING AT THE SPECIFICATION AND REVIEW!What i want to say is why SVS doesn't have the huge bass as it was claimed in every website or is the Sub amplifier is under power?I'm using a PB12NSD at home and the bass I get is much better than at the demo, unfortunately. |

The set up was not perfect. I was at last row initially. The surround speakers were over powering and bright for my liking. It was bad.I got better feel when I sat at front lines during second demo. It was 7.4 set up. If the subs got crank up, they would just overshadow the main MTS speakers. I had set my initial expectation that demo in ballroom would be bad. Same applies to SVS event held in SG earlier. It was rather bad as well due to room limitation. Perhaps you can pay htkaki's showroom a visit. Shouldn't jump into conclusion to say B*LLSHIT until a good set up is 'properly' auditioned. So far comments from pre-order owners have been favourable. If possible, bring an JBL sub for shoot up at showroom. I believe htkaki would welcome this. I couldn't comment much until I have my PB on hand next month.
