Expanded my SEA holding by starting a war with Khmer which brought their ally, pegu. Both got owned and I claimed 3 territory(Khorat, and the other two territory that is red) for myself and force both pegu and khmer to be my vassals. Now I have a strong foothold here.



I'm also the top nation right now but unfortunately have a high infamy rating. I have an extremely bad reputation for starting two wars very close to each other(time wise) and not having a proper reason to declare war on these countries. Bah! Now i guess I need to lay low and stay peaceful and rebuild my reputation for about 10 to 15 years.

1418, due to some freak situation I was called into war by another nation against Lan Xang and they got owned. Now in peace negotiation I took two of their territories(Champassak and Thakhek) and vassalised them. Now my infamy rating is through the roof and every nation as a casus belli against me as I'm a 'dishonourable scum'. SO much for trying to be peaceful. Now I have no choice but to sit back and try to be peaceful and defend my borders if anyone decided to take me on. Also rebels and nationalists rise up in these SEA region as many of my neighbors are being attacked, probably the wars that happened has reduced their stability.


I'll probably go really fast in the next few years. Hopefully can shed a lot of that infamy rating. I'll see if I can hire any advisor that can help out in that.

what's the game u're playing there frags? looks good and takes time which i have abundantly.

If i'm not wrong it shud be Europa Universalis 3. Seems to be a great strategy game. I find his screenies of the game along with Hearts of Iron 3 really interesting.

Yes it is Europa Universalis 3(with all the expansion packs). What makes this different from other regular strategy games is that it's strength is in the game mechanic and diplomacy. For instance, you can't simply declare war, you will have to have a proper casus beli(cause for war, a reason to go to war). If you simply declare war on a nation without valid reason, you get hit with a stability penalty which will affect your nations, revolt risk(more rebels popping up), revenue, and other stuff. Having stability is a good thing. This makes EU3 more of a game of diplomatic manuevers. Making alliances, royal marriages, send insults, warnings. Also infamy is basically a rating which adds up if you make cruel unfair decisions against other nations(like an unjust war).

Not all wars are made equal. Some give you a bad name(well most of them). Some may not earn you much infamy(like a cause to liberate a nation). Also there is the mechanic of prestige, which is the value that makes you win the game. Highest prestige end of the game wins(technically since a lot of people don't play this game to win per say). You also can spend prestige by doing certain actions so you need to decide whether its worth it in the first place. A very complex game, but once you get used to these concepts, I think it's a matter of time before you know what you are doing. For instance the situation I'm in now. I need to make strategic and diplomatic decision. My decision could forever change the path of the nation in Asia. Cool stuff.


Ayuthaya really pressured Malacca. All territories now under ayuthaya and Malacca owns just its main province.


I got a casus beli against this one province which should give me the ability to join all these provinces into a Japan nation. But, I'm staying away from war! I can't risk it.


Oh no the Ming Dynasty now has moved into SEA region. You can see Dai Vet(the north) has been completely been defeated by Ming and now a few landing army starts attacking Ruyong and Ayuthaya territories. This is bad news! But I can't afford a war!


No really no! No war! Now I have a casus beli against Ming. Ming are now dishonourable scum for conquering provinces without a valid reason. Here is the dilemma. Ming is too big a nation their armies probably outnumber me 3 to 1. My reputation isn't so good either but I'm no longer dishonourable scum(which gives any nation the right to declare war on you). Ming moving into SEA(which is really odd as i expected them to fight with Manchu) means they tipped the balance in this region. Japan cant hold out on its own against ming. There is no way! The only way is to somehow unite everyone into a mega alliance but I don't think I can do that since a lot of nations also hate me. I'll have to weigh all my options.
