The whole sole in general. I wore it once today and I can see the heels and front of the sole got scuffed quite a lot. Your's in comparison looks much cleaner. Did you clean it with anything?

those are not mine hah. mine are black n dirty already

Hei guys, just got a pair of barker. Wanted a loake but the design I wanted all either discontinued or don't have size at p.lal

Anyway, wanted to ask you guys, this pair have the smooth leather sole without any rubber to it
Was told that I should only put rubber when the shoes break in and soften a bit then only put rubber. The rubber if put now will damage the sole because of the adhesion...is this true?

And if yes.... Where to do I go then after the shoes break in?

v nice derby
is the color burgundy? im eyeing for burgundy
personally i think pediwear.co.uk or herringshoes.co.uk can have barkers in the RM500+ range during sales
still its nice to try something on before purchase

All leather items need to be conditioned so that it doesn't dry out or rot. But conditioning doesn't have to be too often (too much conditioning could potentially spoil the leather). It depends on how often you use the shoes. If you use it a lot, you need to condition it more often. Or just do it whenever the leather feels dry.

For the brush they are lots in the market. Just look for any that is horse hair. I don't really like neutral polish unless it's for light tan shoes. Neutral tends to leave some white residue on darker shoes. I can't really see the color of your shoes but maybe brown polish would be better. Kiwi brand is cheap and gets the job done. Instant shine stuff also works if you're feeling lazy. Some bros here are against it, but some seem happy with it smile.gif

do u think conditioning in our climate is exaggerated ?
cracks mainly occur during winter whereas we have humidity all year round

Don't know. But to me it's a good idea to condition once every few months. Our weather is humid but it gets quite hot as well. I've had some shoes, bags, sofa dried and cracked before due to the heat. Leather losses it's oils due to usage which needs to be replenished. Also, some conditioners can prevent mold from growing on the leather due to the humidity of the air. And if we walked under the rain or accidentally accidentally stepped on a puddle of water, it could cause the leather to harden and Crack after it dries so we need to apply some conditioner. Of course, over conditioning is bad for the leather as well.

yes probably more so for 4 seasons and i do like the supple feel of leather post conditioning

Where can I find good range of shoe care product? I went to Plal but the choices are so little and I don't even know which are for which. Don't need something too luxury like Saphir, just need something good and affordable.
*
The other one I know is isetan or parkson grand shoe care section

I have a question, lads.
Got a pair of distressed leather shoes. Now they're looking a bit too distressed for my taste, mud and blood and all the good stuff. I'm going to clean it soon, my question is I'm thinking of applying some leather care creams on it. Will it have any effect on the original finish? What will happen to the cracks and creases on it?

*
as for finish, some leather creams dont darken or decolor the original color making it safe to use on pretty much any leather

In the past, I bought 3 pairs of shoes from Herring shoes and their service is very good. They do include a tin of wax to match the shoes everytime.
Fast reply on my questions, and fast shipping too. Their shipping is via DHL. My shoes were charged with import tax sad.gif

As what muzzodammerung mentioned, they do sales quite frequently. Its recommended provided you know your shoe size.
*
pediwear also throws in free matching wax polish
herringshoes does not seem to state their shipping costs on their customs declaration leading to pos malaysia using an inflated estimation charge

Oh I just found out that, herring has free worldwide shipping and for pediwear, if you are buying loake or barker, you can opt for not getting the free shoes tree (which also result in shipping cost increase?) but free international shipping.
*
u sure bout that herring? i even tested checkout still 20GBP

in any case for ppl inquiring tax calculations; it is 10% tax on (item value + shipping) over RM500 if undeclared as gift and then + courier's handling fee
if no shipping charges are declared on form, pos malaysia will use their own estimation and exchange, usually at an inflated rate
which means there is already min tax or RM50 exclusive of handling fees
now when GST kicks in i dont know but im guessing it will reduce to 6% + handling fees
