Finally got all my stuff to KK. (except cables from Monoprice which suppose to arrive today rolleyes.gif )

Got a question on my front speaker location. Searched the internet and read all the manuals. Says the best position for your front speakers is 45-60 degrees or 3/4 the distance from the front to the listening position.

That means if the screen is 14' away my front speakers will be about 10.5' apart. That is very far apart... rclxub.gif

Do all of you guy follow this setup? Please advice.

Yes, I follow the recommendations. My fronts are at 45 degrees.

Even though 10.5' apart sounds very far, think about it - your screen would be nearly 7.5' - 8' wide already. And your speakers have to clear that.

err... still using 40"LCD...

Later will want a projector but from calculations can get only 6' wide screen from throw distance.

From the many pics I see in this forum, many just put the front speakers beside the tv/screen. Hhmmm.... blink.gif

It's up to you if you wish to follow the recommendations. Sometimes people are limited by the width of their room or location of furniture, etc - so the choice of speaker placement is constrained.

Hmm... from my recollection many pics show the speakers to be a distance away from TV. Better u go have a look again.

Also remember that for speakers there are also recommendations about how far they should be away from the side walls. This is another factor that will affect u. You've already read about this topic on the Net so try it out and see. After all, speakers can be moved around.

The thing is my speakers are wall mounted... rclxub.gif

If I mount them then going to be difficult to move them. (rented place, dont want to drill too many holes... whistling.gif )

Will put them on the chair to try first...

Thanks.

From what I know, ideally, the front speakers and your listening position should form a perfect triangle, ie. like what you said, equal distances on all sides. My area is less than ideal, therefore, my triangle is a bit distorted. The distance between the two fronts is a bit smaller but both fronts are equal in distance to the listening position.

Regarding angles, most important is that the fronts are pointed to your listening position. If it is in a perfect triangle position, it should be 60 degrees. If not, its smaller angles like 45-50 degrees but more importantly, pointed towards the listening position.

Additionally, if you factor in the Centre speaker, in theory, it should be equal in distance from the listening positioning as the Front speakers. Which means the three speakers is not aligned, rather, form a parabolic shape around you.

However, in reality, most people use, Audyssey ... laugh.gif
