slot 2 only in ya scenario. if still persist, try to place it in slot 1 1st, start up pc & shutdown, resit it to d preferable slot @ slot 2. last resort > reinstall/update ya catalyst. 
slot 1 & 2 for 790fx can operate in full x16 speed iirc bro. no dummy card for dfi board as dfi user aint dummy...

hey guys, can i ask a question here? any of u guys are using athlon II X2 240? or any athlon II X2? what kinda software did u use to monitor the temps? cos my idle temps are like 28C and load temps around 39C, using amd overdrive, coretemp, and other software monitoring temps... seems too low dont u think?

definitely can be better. how bout nb & ram speed? small fft give higher temp coz it constantly stresses all d cores, unlike blend which sometimes stress d ram besides havin all cores tortured. 

Forget about bumping up vcore to raise ur CPU clock...

put 1.35v see how high does the CPU clock max out...

Just for example your CPU max out at 3.5ghz (and of course Prime Stable), leave it there and start pumping the CPU-NB to as high as you can get on stock volts...1.1v or 1.2v on certain boards....Once you have figure out the max clock you can achieve for the CPU/NB, start pumping in more volts to as high as 1.4v just to see how high it goes...For me the max I can get for 1.2v is around 2400 and 1.4v is around 2800 -ish...

it will result to a better performance, compared to just by raising the CPU clock alone...

and better temps too...
