Oh OK so the only way to purchase from the US store is to either get someone from the US to buy it for you, or to buy gift cards from someone who has source of funding in the US? And I can then use the gift card code to open a US store account?

Yeah thanks for your help. I can confirm you CAN create a US account without any US credit card, and you can also get free apps from the US store.

How do I permanently remove an app that has already started downloading? I clicked to download the free Uno games and decided otherwise a few minutes in, right clicked and clicked delete. Its not on my iPhone or in iTunes. But every now and then iTunes will automatically start downloading it.

lol I bought the full version of HomeBudget, because I really wanted to keep track of my daily expenses. I tried the lite versions of HomeBudget and iXpenseIt, and while the latter has more features, ultimately it looked butt ugly and I went for HomeBudget. A couple of things I find glaringly missing in HomeBudget:

- You can't view charts and reports itemized by subcategories.
- You can only view current day/week/month expenses in Quick Summary, no way to view previous days/weeks/months.

I've emailed support, and the reply said charts with subcategories will be implemented in the future. Good to hear that.

If you want a free expense app, get ExpenseTracker. You're limited to the preset categories from apart from that it's good.

Any app to password protect certain photos on the iPhone? brows.gif

The ones I tried compress the photos and make them look like shit when zoomed in.

You can try this STASH.

Stash  is the ultimate private media manager for iOS. Stash makes it easy and fun to organize and play back both public and private media and documents on your iPad, iPhone 3GS or later, or iPod touch 3rd generation or later.

Does it compress the photos? It's a bit pricey for me too.

Hey is there an extra charge when purchasing apps? I bought a $15 iTunes US gift card and used it to purchase 2 apps totaling $2.98, so 15 - 2.98 = 12.02. But the remaining credit I have on the top right corner of my iTunes says I only have $11.83.

You're using the state that taxed on every purchase, check your purchases record. You can bypass taxes by using California (CA) address, for example.

I'm curious how apps with push work. Example, I have the Windows Live Messenger app, and even if I turn off my phone, I will still be seen signed in. How does this happen?!

Thanks bro, gonna try it out since its free. So far I'm happy with list of free apps available on Apps Store... no need spend a single cent tongue.gif

The free version comes with the abominable ads! I tried it and it's pretty good, but I'm not spending $10 on something like this. Meebo free is about as good as IM+, except I don't see timestamps on most messages. Will try Fring later.

How many IM apps are there?

I've tried the major free and lite IM apps, and can conclude meebo is by far the best. There are no ads. Interface looks pretty nice. Push notifications limit that seems to last forever. The only things that can be improved is the display pictures for most of the contacts don't show up for me, and it doesn't automatically change my status to away when I close the app, so I'm online 24 hours a day lol.

No idea why people pay $10 for beejive and IM+

Always wanted a fuel consumption app, and here's one for free:

The free apps list in iTunes is full of games. I see some really wonderful apps out there but most people are infatuated with games only.

Bloody brilliant! I was just thinking of buying it too. Now I can identify all the great songs played on BFM. I'm actually shocked at how fast this app recognizes songs... it's accurate 99% of the time for most songs, and only falter when it comes to movie scores, which is understandable.

Shinichi, what does iTunes say?
