i experience the similar thing as well. it is normal.

on the first day playing with my iPhone, i didnt aware that i actually accidentally shut off the sound switch, no wonder there was no sound when i play games / incoming calls / etc.

i thought the speaker is faulty, so i plugged in the earphone, to my surprise, there is sound coming from the earphone (same encounter as Blast_Cyrus).

scratching my head... so i did a quick google on the net, and i had a laugh over myself because the sound switch on the top left corner was turned off . biggrin.gif
*
Can I take this further with you guys?

1. The ringing tone is only heard through the earphone, not the phone itself, right(with the earphone plugged in)?
2. If you did not mute the sound, with the earphone plugged in, would the ringing tone be through the earphone or the phone?

The problem I experiencing now is, even after I switch the phone to ringing mode. No keyboard sound those as well as sms ringtone. frustrated
*
Go to the sound setting to ensure that you have switched on the sound for your keyboard clicks. As for the SMS tone, check to ensure that you have also enabled a tone instead of having ticked 'none'.

If you have done the above and the problem persist, do a reboot and if that doesn't work send your phone in for a warranty claim.

not.screen not crack but the display shows springfield crack.
need to be restatred.is it sttled by restart?

actually wat is the springfield?
an aplication?
*
Hello, since the message popped up asking you to restart, why don't you do just that and see if whatever problem it is, is solved. If it is, you don't have to waste your time and ours.

Only after doing that, it is not solved, post your query then please, not before doing as asked.

Hi guys, update from me. Yesterday went home and try to restore it before send to maxis to claim warranty. Surprisingly after I restore everything back to normal but now i'm on 3.1.2 T.T Need to make it hujan =)
*
Good for you. That's why it is good to have a go at that, restoring, before sending in for warranty claim which is what I keep saying. It will save you an unnecessary trip because when you take it to Maxis and I believe other telcos as well, they will restore the unit to see if the problem encountered is rectified.

For those who read this, please take heed of this.

QUOTE(poyol @ Nov 12 2009, 09:26 AM)
Yupp..similar to that..but my mark is very very feint...not that obvious...

FYI my iPhone's back is protected by an SGP shield, and I had a silicone cover on as well during that time.
I guess the silicone cover must've been the culprit...trapping all the heat in.
*
Apparently Apple conducted an investigation and concluded that it was those casings that caused the marks and has nothing to do with the iPhone overheating.

You could troubleshoot by:
1. Checking if the marks are the colour of your casing
2. Trying to clean off from your SGP Shield
3. If it does not come off, peel off your SGP Shield to see if it is on the Shield or the iPhone
4. If on the former, Apple is right
5. If the marks are on your Phone, take it for warranty claim.

i guess the poll is a good thing as it serves as a guide to the favourite cases/pouches that are used by most of the forumers here....
I beg to differ simply because.....'one man's poison is another man's meat'. And there are enough comments/inputs here for one to take cognizance of and make a decision for himself.

Is there an app that will beep (or flash the screen) of the Iphone should I miss a call/sms/email? And the interval of reminding can be set as well?

So far, nope!

seriously, such polls are a waste of time and space TBH and i'm relatively an open minded person.

every human being is unique and how they perceive "nice" and value differ greatly.

depending on taste and criteria; some might prefer a translucent case? leather? synthetic material? bling bling approximate? fabric?

whilst i'm at it, perhaps i ought to contemplate opening a poll asking LYN males' preference with regard to female hairstyle; dyed, short, shoulder length, bleached, fringe-less et cetera. you get my drift...

even if there was such an initiative, i doubt that it will be approved by apple in the first place.

for text messages, you can opt for the periodic-buzzes feature for unread messages.
*
Wah, Nok, you are more vocal than me. But I don't 'blame' you. Cheers mate.

QUOTE(T816B @ Nov 12 2009, 01:17 PM)
Why would Apple not approve such apps?

Is the periodic buzzes a in-built feature in the iphone?
*
I guess Nok said that due to the fact that Apple have a mind of their own and they do not want to be generic and homogenous.

Yes, it is and you can set to repeating alerts in your phone.

Jimmylim85,

I've tried that last week and I can successfully created a new US itunes account without credit card.

Re-quoted a useful post by one of the forumer here, very straight forward and easy.

Good luck in exploring  thumbup.gif

That is what I was inferring. Someone, in fact more than one forummer have posted this before. So, if anyone cares to read up, he/she will get to know what to do.

Hi , i'm having this problem with my iphone 3gs.
i bought it at August 2009.
Everything works fine until 1 day which is about a week ago.
I realized that my compass is not pointing anywhere .
and when i enter the goggle map , it just can't find my location.

Is anyone of you facing the same problem ?
Do you guys think this is covered in the warranty , and if it does, where should i claim the warranty ?
Please help me . sad.gif
*
Have you tried re-booting your phone to troubleshoot? After doing that, if it doesn't work, you must restore to see whether that solves the problem as, when you bring to Maxis (I am assuming it's a Maxis set), they will also restore the phone first to see if that will do the trick. If it does, you would have wasted a trip.

i don't know la. but it was done through their system.

so when it was feasible for me to get online on both his iPhone and mine, i proceeded to ask him, "so, all of our previous attempts were not necessary, if we have done that first?"

he sheepishly said "possibly"

nevertheless, i appreciated his help and his company as he was explaining how things work in maxis et cetera throughout the ordeal  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif  icon_rolleyes.gif

Nok, firstly, good to have you back to this neck of the woods, albeit temporarily. Secondly, with Maxis, tell me what else is new. Unfortunately it had to be you who was the one who experienced their ineptness this time around which luckily didn't cost you too dearly save for loss of some data. Hope they can be retrieved by some means.

@panasonic88,
There's nothing much to be discussed about; and the worm, as u know affects onli jailbroken phones + those who didn't bother to set/change SSH passwords.  Really doesn't quite affect the phone until U pick up a call.  A friend of mine who's using the i2G got infected but like I mentioned, it doesn't affect the usability of the phone smile.gif
*
Whilst infected iPhones' usability is not affected, owners will feel violated cause something they didn't install appears when they don't want it. For those who have jailbroken their iPhones, just change your root password which is quite easy a process.

Good that Genocide provided the 'antidote'. But prevention is better than cure, so change the root password quickly.

that's an awful lot of iPhone. And yet it takes a month here to get iPhone from Maxis..what a loss.. cry.gif
*
4000 is not a lot considering the country's population. In any event, I believe each country's appointed telco(s) orders what they feel they could dispose of and Maxis is probably counting the straws when it orders the stock. After all, they know the consumers though make a lot of noise will still wait it out for the iPhone.
