HDCP only applies to HD content via HDMI. All HDMI equipment used must comply to it (in other words, must know the "secret handshake"), if not you will not be able to watch BD. A few forumers had this problem back in the early days.

When composite is used, it downscales to standard resolution so the HDCP doesn't apply.

Target Stores will have Gremlins released exclusively this Tuesday. No word yet on when it will be available elsewhere in US. Amazon US doesn't even has it for pre-order yet.

In UK, it will be released on October 5th.

Great find bro, thanks for the heads up. rclxms.gif

The only problem, just bought an original DVD last week. This along with my Drunken Master II DVD were borrowed by my friend and never returned. Now I've lost contact with him.

Any info on the specs? Is the original cantonese soundtrack included? Lossless? I might get this one.

The release of Lord of the Rings Trilogy BD was never officially announced by Warners. But then again there was never an official announcement for the delay either. All originated from a so-called "insider".

WBShop is still listing it for 3rd November release, and still accepting pre-orders. A Blu-ray.com member wrote to them and received a reply.

We might still get the trilogy this November (not me though, only extended edition for me).

Agreed. Always go for original country of production, in this case HK is the one to go for. Just like Hollywood movies, US-produced is prefered... over UK/Europe or Asia ones nod.gif

Tested Drunken Master II last night. One word, LAZY. Lazy PQ, lazy AQ, lazy everything. They even wrongly put the audio as Dolby TrueHD in the menu, it's actually DTS-HD MA! hmm.gif

But the PQ is not as bad as I thought it would be. Looks OK, certainly much better than DVD. Not bad. But the English dub is quite annoying, though after few minutes I did get used to it. What's worse to the dub is the sound effects which is tamed a bit, those anime-like fighting sound is gone. And music, some mat Salleh has re-done it which I think changes the whole experience. Simply said, this version has been Americanized. doh.gif

Ahem, can anyone test this scenes? 2 hours 7 minutes , 50 second onwards,
I recall i saw in cinema have no such issue, just slowmo megan chest run in clear details, but this transfer is just overlay with explosion that
suppose to be from behind.

That screenshot doesn't look like taken from an HD source. No definition at all, looks pixelated. Terrible. Is it from the MKV?

Anyway, appreciate if you could resize the pic to make it smaller. smile.gif

Yup, lately Fox keep using that casing. The reason to make it eco-friendly with less plastic used. But I think they're actually being cheap to save costs. laugh.gif

For best PQ & AQ documentary I suggest Baraka, shot on 70mm with DTS-HD MA 24-bit/96kHz audio. Or can also try HOME. Planet Earth PQ great too but audio only Dolby Digital.

The Universe series the PQ/AQ not so great. I'm looking more for the content on this one. smile.gif

Not too long ago Michael Bay said that Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen on BD will have shifting ratio between IMAX and normal 35mm shots, just like The Dark Knight.

Now Walmart has put up a flyer that they're exclusively selling "2-Disc Big Screen Edition" (which refers to IMAX). Nelson from MichaelBay.com Forum Admin has also confirmed the Walmart exclusive. But he didn't tell any details yet about what makes it exclusive.

Walmart:

Amazon/Others:

The version that was released on IMAX is 1 minute longer. So some say, all editions of the BD will have shifting ratio, but the Walmart exclusive has that extra minute. While others say only the Walmart exclusive has shifting ratio, but all the other release will only be 2.35:1 which means mean all the IMAX shots will be cropped further to 2.35:1 instead on 1.78:1 (IMAX original aspect ratio is 1.43:1).

If it's the latter, then we'll have to find alternative ways because Walmart doesn't ship internationally.

'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' Blu-ray w/IMAX Footage Exclusively at Wal-Mart

I can get it but won't bother. Just gonna get the normal version from amazon laugh.gif
*
Bro, the extra 1 minute footage won't bother many people. But what's not clear is whether the Walmart exclusive will be the only version with shifting aspect ratio (like The Dark Knight). Rumor is that all other version will be constant 2.35:1, which sucks because the IMAX footage will be further cropped to 2.35.1 instead of 1.78:1.

But again, nobody can confirms this. Both Michael Bay and Paramount aren't saying anything (Bay did mention about the shifting ratio on BD long time ago). We'll have to wait until they're released, hopefully the Amazon version will also have shifting ratios.

We are in Region A, the same region with US. All BDs from there can be played on players bought from Asia Pacific and US, regardless of it being locked or not.

REGION A REGION B REGION C

But if you're getting from UK, there's possibility for it being region locked to B, so check here for confirmation:
