Ya... that's the problem in Europe, once strike everything stalled hmm.gif Hopefully, that won't be the case with our forthcoming parcels

QUOTE(chiakwang @ Oct 19 2009, 02:11 PM)
Hi Guys,

i am new in Bluray..... Planned to get few movies that are highly recommended like:

1. Casino Royale
2. Wall-E
3. Any other good bluray movies

however, prices in malaysia is very expensive.

Could you guys please advice on how you purchase from Amazon?

1. Amazon US or UK better?
2. Do amazon give combine shipping rate?
3. What is the common shipping rate to malaysia?

Pls share additional information which is important for me to start. Thanks a lot!

You can also share your purchase experience.

Thanks!

Hi chiakwang, welcome to the community. I like your highly recommended movie - No.3 laugh.gif

Sorry... unfunny jokes aside, you can purchase both from US & UK as long as you're aware of its disc region code (some may have and some may not): UK (Region B) & US (Region A - which shares the same region with Asia and Malaysia). You have to check carefully if the Region B discs are playable on your bdp (I assume you bought your player here in M'sia). Price (that includes currency rates) and other factors like packaging/sleeve design, contents (supplementary, audio options) etc. etc. varies from release to release between regions. Amazon offers 3 different shipping option to your preference (ie - standard, expedited & priority). Other si-foos here can elaborate more....

If we buy from amazon UK, the prices shown is with VAT or without? If the former, does Amazon UK automatically deduct the VAT or we have to notify them first when we place order? hmm.gif

The prices shown are inclusive of VAT. If it is sold by Amazon UK, then the VAT is deducted , if  it is sold by  Amazon's Jersey Merchant, Indigostarfish.com then no VAT applied and it will not be deducted(Jersey is outside of the UK).

I'm a bit disappointed with snow white. It's not really in wide screen. The movie still in 4:3 format but they put a static screen to cover the black bar on left and right to make it looks like 16:9 rolleyes.gif but the PQ really excellent compared to original version. Sound mostly coming from front channels. Can hardly hear anything coming from surround speakers. Might as well call it DTS-MA 3.1 and not 7.1 tongue.gif
*
Huh? Do you mind share us a screen-capture of this... I can't really picture what u meant by "static screen to cover the black bars"? hmm.gif

i agree that TROF FX and Audio was first class, but i cannot enjoy a movie unless it is well balanced ... TROF lacked acting, script and storyline .. =(
hahahaha good idea!
*
With this kind of movie, what can you expect from acting, storyline... as long you get 'entertained' with its visceral boom-boom-pow & walao-weh action, visual efx, fab pix & sound, that's good enough for me in my book. If you think about it, giant robots running around in the streets and wrestled each other near the famous landmark of the world oredi don't make sense in the first place...

If you using Panasonic BD60 or BD80 Blu-ray Player, you can go to AVForums.com and look for a thread that tech you "How to make your Panasonic BD60 or BD80 Blu-ray Player Multiregion". This thread will teach you how to change your region A player to free region player but that is difficult mod.  laugh.gif
*
They should do like the early batches of dvd player where you can change all 6 region codes with a few touch of a button on the remote.... a bit leceh la but gets the job done and play everything. Funny that Pioneer player of mine still running up & about...

yeah!!! i think that the word!!! picture depth is it????
something like that i believed, where the actor and the background seem to have that depth it makes the front object
appearing to popped out of the screen. Correct me if i am wrong, but im not sure what is the effect term is called??

all sifu, please help me....if possible what is the best brand for lcd tv that has this ability of the depth thingie.
*
Picture Depth? I've never heard it myself....is that the effect because of a high-definition presentation or an effect applied to the LCD? hmm.gif

Unless of course if you're the type who's not into extra features and all that... but then again, they might've compromised on the PQ & AQ bit compression too...
