Chinook, I understand the issue you're having with 465 and b.yond.

What I do when I turn to Astro b.yond is switch to non-HD channels first, then when receiver doesn't 'flicker on and off', switch back to the HD channels. Seems to work for me this way.

Technically I know nothing about 'HDCP handshakes'. Actually what does it mean?...

guys i've just got a yammy rx-v465 this week. i have 3 hdmi input - ps3,dvd & xbox. the problem i have is when i watch dvd the decoder keeps turning off every 1 minute and then turns back on again. So what u get is a break in sound every 1 minute. But the ps3 and xbox is fine. I call the installer (desa ht) and they claim that it could be that the hdmi cable for my dvd could be faulty. Any feedback from our sifu's here.? Your help is very much appreciated.

i wan to ask ur all yamaha avr when operating will getting hot or not ? it damm feel hot on the top even got many hole on the top.. i worry it will getting burn inisde =.= should i go to get the fan to cooling down?

shoot i'm using the old ps3 fat version. whats mpcm? does that mean i cant enjoy HD audio? even if it goes through the 465?

Hope this is not a repeat question here.

I m looking for new avr, this will be my first avr, I prefer to have the entry level RX-V471, the specification from the yamaha web said "5-channel 525W = 105W x 5 (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9 % THD); 675W = 135W x 5 (6 ohms, 1 kHz, 10 % THD, JEITA)"

What is that meant?? Why this avr have 2 spec?? 105W per channel and 135W per channel

I also thought about asking for a specialist to come and check my setup, seeing that this is the 1st time i bought a HT system. It sounded much better than my previous micro HIFI, but how will i know if i am not setting it up correctly. Any idea of the cost for a specialist consult?

Seems that u know Sibu well U're from around here too? I did go to his shop once to check out the prices. He doesn't sell Yamaha/PSB and he offers mid - upper range products, so the price is steep I may consider getting his calibration service though.
HT is pricey here. In fact, i flew with my HT set back here from KL 3weeks ago, with some commotion in LCCT due to overweight baggage, etc and a sore back. Estimated savings at least rm1K

just went desa home kepong, the guy quoted 2,099 for RX-V675, F160 5-speakers-set for 1,850, subwoofer sw315 for 1200..

u sure F160 5-speakers-set only 1.5k?? damn almost got ripped off lol..

But the guy unwilling to hook up all 5 speakers to the v675 for audition purpose, ended up only connected the front 2 F150 speakers...when asked for the remote controller to change sound mode, he said the remote still wrapped inside the box not easy to take out...

After that I went harvey ikano, the service was much better  , the price for V575 + F160 was 3490, when asked for v675 bundled with F160 the guy said HN dun sell v675 with F160, reason being the V675 is overkill for F160..

He recommended NS-555 speakers set bundled with V675 instead, price was 5399..

Subwoofer recommended was sw315 for RM1190 or sw500 for RM1490...

So, 

but 475 also got others features, based on purity concept of yamaha, i think i will prefer 475 so no need upgrade later on. any email/phone contact of desa kepong? or all desa will price the same?

thinking to get YHT575SPK160RW any opinion for this ? i stay in condo.
