S or whatever cable not much noticeable difference for the mighty Asstro. And no need brand brand all.

BTW, how are you connected to Asstro now?

Technically speaking, after I change from normal RCA composite to S-Video cable. I notice the increase of contrast and colors (visually). But this increase actually makes the pictures a bit blocky, or looks a bit pixelated.

From my observation it seems to me that watching astro with the pics not so sharp, it will look smoother and better as if those fast moving scenes it will be badly affected by the sharp pics.

As I have bought the S-video cable to test, (RM 15 from All IT) I use it but I reduce the sharpness on the TV, it does look better but not significant. I gain an increase in better colors but tone down the sharpness to make up for a smoother image rather than a sharper or blocky one.

If u haven't buy the cable. I would say it's not significant. Many shop assistants would say this TV include S-Video connection to make better picture quality but in fact our astro quality is bad at the first point.

Say, have you ever done blind testing to see if the Monster Cable you sell really got difference compared to other normal cables?

Based on my experience and all my customer feedback, Monster THX S-Video cable will improve 10-25% of the astro picture quality.

The ghosting and pixelation will reduce and the contrast will improve. So you need to reduce the contrast level and prolong the life of your tv panel.

Overall you can tell the difference.

This is the only method to improve your astro picture quality.

If anyone knows other alternatives to improve the astro PQ, please share.

Question is :

Does the brand really matter? I have the Monster S-Video cable and generic cap ayam RM10 S-Video cable, and I see 'ZERO' difference in using RM1xx monster cable vs RM10 cap ayam S-video cable. hmm.gif

Just my 2cts.

To avoid losing signal...its best to use a good shielding cable regardless of brand..however a good one will cost a bit more because more material/layer are needed to develop such cables.

No, IMHO, I dun think it makes a difference. At least no significant difference to me, esp. to justify the gap in pricing.

Better cable does make some difference.. improvement but also, its up to the "buyer beware" as some people expectation is way out of proportion.. If you upgrading from a RM10 to a RM100, its a bit hard to justify 90% increase in quality as you paying 90% more (pardon the math)
Also, not all people have that much money to spend.. so still back to "Buyer Beware"
I have not used Monster S-Video but experience on other "branded" S-Video do have improvement. (Tested Siltech & Used Audioquest & Black Rhodium) I won't say Monster is not good (Pricy - Yes) as I am also using some... but its expectation.. If you have the budget.. then go ahead... If not... the best way is to try to borrow one from friend to test (If Friend have and willing to borrow or got spare to lend).
