Guys (and gals), quick question..I have a 27 GB Eagles Farewell Tour in Melbourne, in HDDVD ISO format. File doesn't play in either Dvico or WDTV. File shows up in the Dvico titles list, while the WDTV disses it completely..haha. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!!

I didn't managed to get the ISO to work either but I'm keeping it. Hopefully one day, "something" will play it. Too bad the Eagles didn't release it on BD.. Sigh

wah audio portion = 16G?

MKV 1080p =/= HD-DVD's / BD 1080p.. video portion.. can confirm by bitrate to be sure.. MKVs even 1080p are still further compressed

mkv ripped from HDDVD tends to be larger in size if compared to ripped from BD.. biggrin.gif

Pardon my ignorance....the original HDDVD iso is 27GB, the copy I have has been compressed to just over 11GB in an mkv container. A while back, while comparing a 1080p Celine Dion Live in Vegas (over 8GB) against the BD iso file (84GB or something), I commented that my eyes were not really able to detect visible differences in PQ, but the AQ was vastly different. I was then made to understand that the AQ was greatly compromised/sacrificed when it was compressed, that the missing GBs was mostly audio data.

Having said that, the copy I have is great, a bit (haha!) lacking in audio bite, but PQ is brilliant. Too bad this concert not released in blu-ray format.

Nit-picking resumes now.....wink.gif

huh? MKV is the container.. you can make the size just as big as original H.264 video stream or compress smaller (while still maintaining the same resolution).. just need to recode it to the target bitrate/file size (and depend on 1pass or 2pass recode)

wow!! how many layer Blu-ray celine dion disc is that!! hmm.gif

as for bitrate, also require the equipment to "see" the highly compressed bitrates..

example, if you have 1080p projector and blow up to 100inches and sitting 1x distance, the differences will be very distinct..

if just watching on 40inch LCD/plasma sitting 8feet back..maybe not much difference depending on eyesight..... biggrin.gif

you kah, cos I don't even try on HD material.. I only use puny core duo 2GHZ.. try to convert 9G M2ts to 4.6G MKV already take 10-12hours.. sweat.gif

but strangely I try to overload the process just to try.. not bad.. watch BDISO mounted, + TMT (with hardware decode) still can playback smoothly the entire movie.. .. thumbup.gif (even at 100% x 2 proc)
