Pardon my ignorance....the original HDDVD iso is 27GB, the copy I have has been compressed to just over 11GB in an mkv container. A while back, while comparing a 1080p Celine Dion Live in Vegas (over 8GB) against the BD iso file (
84GB or something), I commented that my eyes were not really able to detect visible differences in PQ, but the AQ was vastly different. I was then made to understand that the AQ was greatly compromised/sacrificed when it was compressed, that the missing GBs was mostly audio data.
Having said that, the copy I have is great, a bit (haha!) lacking in audio bite, but PQ is brilliant. Too bad this concert not released in blu-ray format.
Nit-picking resumes now.....

wow!! how many layer Blu-ray celine dion disc is that!!
as for bitrate, also require the equipment to "see" the highly compressed bitrates..
example, if you have 1080p projector and blow up to 100inches and sitting 1x distance, the differences will be very distinct..
if just watching on 40inch LCD/plasma sitting 8feet back..maybe not much difference depending on eyesight.....
