Soul Calibur definitely. Easy to pick up for everyone but a bit challenging to master.

If too many game selection, it's better to change it into a LAN party, would be much better IMO, held it in a big hall like the cyberfusion, have competition for each big game.

Tekken 6 is releasing sometime october...if everything goes well...the finalist could be challenging TEKKEN 6 for the LCD...hahaha and YES before release of the game too...lets see how....

Soul Calibur even the button masher and noobs can win. so that's out of my vote.

For fighting, I vote for SFIV and Tekken 6 coz i believe these games really test our skills. Button mashers will beg for mercy!

For sports, it should be winning eleven(PES) coz this is the most popular and most known game played by most people. but Fifa 10 is ok i guess. but i bet PES will attract more people.

Actually, football games would be a great spectator game!

wow rock band? I haven't played much on rockband but if u make it guitar hero, i'm in! btw, what's the requirement for this game? full band? single instrument only? still not clear on the rules.

shooter, u can make COD4 or Killzone would be interesting.

and for the racing. i suggest racing sim like Forza, GT or NFS: shift would be a better choice.

Need for Speed Shift...ok...I am looking into that now and YES TEKKEN as well...hopefully we can get a copy of TEKKEN 6 just for the tourney...keep finger crossed....

The tourney is still going...

Regarding shooter...we are trying to get at least one of them as there is issue with the sponsors bringing in the game. Also, regarding racing...we are still working on the mechanics on which racing game is the best for everyone.

TEKKEN 6 will be the game if it makes it in to us on time...infact, we are trying to bring the game just for tourney even before the release date. However, that wouldnt be fair too right?

So hang on tight...we are about to announce the full details soon...

SONY is confirmed organising a TOURNAMENT where serious gamers are tested in variation of games and stand a chance to win a PS3 console and a 40 inch LCD....

Games you guys are tested in the tourney are:

1) KOFXII
2) SF4
3) Soul Calibur 4
4) Call of Duty 4 (free for all hardcore)
5) Bomberman
6) Puzzle Fighter
7) Racing Game (working on the title)
8) FIFA 09 or 10
9) RockBand (guitar solo)
10)Another title added soon

The finals will be at 30th - 31st October 2009 and there will only be 10 finalist to compete for the main prize. Not to worry, second prize could be a ps3and 3rd is a psp...(prizes to be finalize but the first prize is a confirmed prize)

In order to be one of the 10 finalist - contestant are urged to come on a certain date (TBA) and compete in 10 different games tournament. Each game champion will have a seat for the finals. Meaning, we are trying to provide a fair chance to all gamers...10 different games, 10 different winners fighting for the main prize.

If you are good at SF4 doesnt mean you can beat a guy in FIFA ...so everyone stands a chance....

1. Unlockable characters:
For fighting games like Street Fighter IV and Soul Calibur IV, a significant number of characters are initially locked, and require some amount of single play to unlock. Will efforts be made to unlock them, or will some of us have to live with not being able to play with their favourite characters?

2. Rules and Regulations:
Any specifics on this yet?

3. Banned/barred characters:
Any such imposed restrictions for the fighting games this time around?

SF 4 is at OCTOBER 17th and there is no payment for entry....

Terms is simple....

1) We are looking for 10 people to fight for the grand prize. In order to do so, we nned to run 10 different mini tournaments.

2) Champion of each tournament will have a seat for the finals.

3) Finals will be on 30th October and we will be playing 24 hours TOURNAMENTS.

4) Finalist with the most wins ( point collecting format) win the grand pize and so on.

5) The winner of each individual game will be tested in 10 or more games tournament withing 24 hours. Example: SF4 champ playing FIFA could be an issue to him...and thats the idea. We are looking for the overall gamer guys. SO EVERYONE STAND A CHANCE

6) If you are the champ for 1 game. You dont have to take part anymore as you are one of the finalist. You must show up on 30th for the grand finals.

7) Those who didnt make it as the CHAMP, you may take part again in other tournament...SO everyone has 10 chances to fight for 10 seats to the finals.

But my previous questions on locked/banned characters could still use some answers.

COD4 is apparently not confirmed yet. But assuming it is and going by the above rules, yes you can, for the qualifying weeks. But should you emerge as COD4 champ, you won't have that luxury during the finals as you'll need to compete in nine other games.

Locked characters for fighting games depends on the tournament rules themselfs... FOR NOW, you are allowed to use every characters in SF4.

You can bring any sticks as long as it compatible with the PS3

Arguably, the only games which still got players now are FIFA, WE and SF4 (RB no more, RB:B only got player).

KOF12 was a disappointment.

WTF is Puzzle Fighter.

Bomberman is meant for Retro consoles.

Trash Panic?

Honestly though, there still is time to change the games. A few days, it will be rushed, but at least there will be participants.

First of all I would like to thank you for your ideas and comments...however, I hope you guys can hear me out. The tournament is meant for everyone in Malaysia and there is too many people we need to consider. Sponsors always prefered to have a larger market audience and contestant and thats why there will be games for those who are not as hardcore as you guys.

Puzzle Fighter is a porpular puzzle game where STREET FIGHTERS characters are cute and they play in dropping colorful blocks to kill off your opponent. Very challenging and well known game in the puzzle industry. While Brain challenge is meant for those who prefer to use their mind instead of button smashing.

Bomberman YES it was chosen because it was meant for RETRO and dont forget about girls. Its easy to pic up and uses fast thinking to play too. Video Game tournament is not always playing hardcore games...we have to consider the fun factor too. Lets give those who wanted to play and dont have the talent and skills like you guys a chace to feel the whats tournament is all about ok?

Beside, it will be much easier for hardcore gamers to defeat them in finals right?

And another reason for us to choose these games is to look for the overall best gamer (where he plays everything anyone would challenge him)

Well, we also would love to hear from you guys - If you were to play a tournament game, please suggest to me...

It's not that the lesser known games don't deserve a chance, but a tournament should have a variety of genres.

KOF 12 and Brain Challenge should be scrapped for a racing game and a shooter.

While i don't hv any problems that puzzle games are included (Trash Panic is kinda fun actually ) but yeah KOF 12 don't really appeal to the mainstream and yet there's not much players as compared to SF4.

Racing games...most games are online only and its tough to do the tournament though. I have tried many racing games and most of them...is not suitable for tournaments.

Shooter...please be patience...we are thinking COD4 - will let you know soon...

Also, let me know please what title you guys prefer !!!

Racing games - NFS: Shift and GT5P are both on PS3 and instead on PvP, can do solo lap and winner via lap time.

Shooter - COD4 is one game you could do. You can also do Resistance 2 or Killzone 2 as they support 60 and 32 player multiplayer respectively.

Again, I'm not hating the event or anything, but KOF12 isn't exactly what most people would consider a good game

Have you tried GRID? Quite a number of ppl is playing the game and there's several tournaments for GRID on PS3 previously with no issues at all.

Well, we are looking forward to SHIFT...still pending on sponsor decision...lets hope we can have it as part of the tournament. However, it should be on the second week...so still got time to decide.
