STOP and think first smile.gif

not necessarily u will be happy there if your rotation is not good.

yes, long hours. 10pm my friend still at the bank working. if u got business pitch in ur division, 1am also got smile.gif

pay is good, benefits, good. banks corporate governance and remuneration packages is always good.
yes, if you quit, you HAVE to pay, else u'll kena legal action.

where u work depends on rotation. can be at jalan semangat or in kl new office or at masjid jamek consumer area etc.

the program is tough. not easy. then again, banking is never easy.

if u get fired, u don't need to pay back.
if u resign u need to pay back smile.gif

i know of people who has resigned.

Well, I don't mind if the long hours applies to "peak period" or even 3-4 days a week. Do your friend work till 10om EVERYDAY?

And if they fire you, you don't need to pay back. What if you're underperform? It is stated in the terms that they'll terminate you if you underperform and u need to pay back. May I know the reason of those you know who have resigned? And did they pay back all the salary?

don't need to mention the management trainee program, even a normal employee in CIMB works until 9pm everyday. yes, EVERYDAY! imagine the workload of a management trainee if a normal employee already work until that hour. and yes, you need to pay them back regardless of whether you resign or they fire you (from what i was told by the recruiters in career fair). so think carefully before you join this program. if you have confidence in yourself, then by all means, go for it! prospects are there, but can you survive long enough to see yourself at higher level of the corporate ladder?

a piece of advice for you......
commitment....
if you cannot just let it go....
ask yourself a simple question: you really wan to work inside bank?
If yes, take it, its the same in every bank

the one in jalan raja laut? no parking there, and to describe the traffic condition there as bad is a big understatement, very bad news to those who drive to work. on the bright side, LRT station is just next to the building itself.

It is impossible for a building with 39 floor without parking and I saw that there exists a route that looks like path to parking. I saw it because I everyday passby the CIMB at Jalan Raja Laut via LRT.

I think that the main part of CIMB Investment Bank will still be at Damansara since the new building is not large enough to let all CIMB Group companies to fit into it.

Cherish the chance for the position. CIMB Investment Bank don't usually hire unless the person possess the experience for it. If you found out that CIMB Investment Bank working environment, compensation and benefit is not as good as other bank after 2 years, there will still be great job opportunity awaiting for you.

Added on September 10, 2009, 10:42 pmThe parking that I meant should be inside the building. If I am not mistaken, it will be underground parking.

those parking lots are normally meant for higher management level staffs. not sure about CIMB's though, but i doubt the parking lots could accommodate all staffs who are working in that building itself

When I went for the interview (last Monday), my interviewer told me the pay is RM3.2k. So its pretty good. Also, according to their website, they generally prefer it if you don't have work experience for this program. But they offered the same programme to another friend of mine who had worked in Audit for 1.5yrs. So I guess it depends. Your best bet would be to call them up and ask. I did and I've been through the first 3 stages in 1 week.

Working long hours... I think that's a given if you're in IB. Other parts, you get it a bit easier. But like ppl say, banks are like that. Long hours but good pay (and the bonus!) Its only 2 years after all.

other parts such as CIMB Bank or Islamic Bank may need to work long hours too.. It actually depends on the luck i guess. Other people may not need to work long hours in CIMB.

Even if in CIMB IB, there exist different department and various types of position. I think that the IB that a lot of people thinking will surely work long hour is just the position that a lot of people known. There should still have other position to be discover.

Thanks people. I have decided to go for it. The pay is pretty good after all and although I got other offers as well, I still find this program a "complete" one. Wish me luck.....smile.gif

Well, i was told that it would be in klang valley. it depends on your performance in classroom training, if you do well in IB, you'll be placed there. If you do better in other areas, you might be in HQ kl or other branches. It will be in the form of rotations.

Very long working hours....but if u really succeed, you can expect a 5 figure salary..and annual bonuses up to 12 months....that''s if you're really good smile.gif

But you will have to sacrifice your life...cos u wont have time for leisure at all...and ppl might say "i m young, i will work and work for money"..wait till u experience it.....

u will say "it's not worth it"... just dun end up at the bottom of a high rise building due to depression..

my 2 cents smile.gif

You are going to rotate in CIMB Bank also? You mean that your management trainee is not only in CIMB Investment Bank?

the 1st question you really need to search through the forum.

2nd question, if they really ask general knowledge, then it should be good. As i mean that we should know what is generally happening around us. I am not sure whether they will ask it in management trainee interview or not.

3rd question, management trainee in CIMB will not be a sales job but the job/experience maybe depends on your performance and choice in which department.

4th question, department and location of work you should ask the hr during interview if you are given the chance for interview.

There's one rm6 per day i think. Have to walk a distance. Opposite SOGO.

Don't ask me for more details. I only parked there once. Haha. But yeah, search and see la. I remember have to walk over from SOGO. It's under some trees. Go for the one one the right. There's two parking there. The left one is more expensive. smile.gif
