I believe ulcers are the most dreadful thing to have in your mouth especially when you're having more than one!

normally i'll use listerine to cure it but it's quite costly (for me),
so how do you guys deal with your mouth ulcers in a more economic and effective way?

this is depend on your immune system of your body. for mine..it will heal in 3 days..but i will use bactidol to gargle day and night..

cheapest way is to use salt dilute in warm water..but u have to gargle few times a day and it take more time to heal..

actually similar topic has been discussed quite a lot of time..u may use the search function to search..

Go to any pharmacy and ask them for Dexaltin Oral Paste. Highly effective, I used it last time when I suffered a huge ulcer! Damn painful that one.

This paste will cure it within days.. Upon application, you will feel a bit of numbness in your mouth, macam ubat bius dentist laugh.gif I tried garam but then sakit.. Last time I bought it RM9.25 per tube, 2grams. You won't need that much. One tube can be used many times.

Enough for 3-4 mouth ulcer attacks brows.gif

When I can feel a mouth ulcer coming i quickly rinse my mouth with arm salt water. Sometimes the ulcer won't appear.

It is very painful when I get a few ulcers at a time and it tales about a week to heal.

I used to get it very frequently. Same with my friend. The doctor recommend grape seed extract , an anti oxidant to boost up my immune system.
Since then I don't have ulcers so often and even when it comes it heals very quickly.

It will take 2-3 days but you will only feel a bit of pain after putting salt directly on it. Then rinse water+salt early morning and night.

Cheap but effective.

For those who only get in once in a blue moon the reason may be stress or eating fried foods.

For frequent sufferers there may be other reasons like deficiency of Vit B12 or folates. or have a immune disorder.

I can tell you it is no fun when your mouth has 2-3 ulcers. Eating is horrible and even talking is just plain torture.
It is worse if the ulcer is at the tip of your tongue or at the back of your throat.

Of course when it appears the salt treatment is sheer hell.
So I would rather prevent getting it in the first place.

You can read this article on mouth ulcers.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/health/conditions/mouthulcers1.shtml

Now when I feel one coming (and I usually do )I take extra grape seed extract.

Yup. Have to apply directly on ulcer.

Don't mix it with water. That one take longer time to cure.

How many times per day? Well, try this...try use your tongue to touch it, if you feeling very pain meaning it is time to apply salt on it. rclxms.gif

It works wonder and cost effective way of curing ulcer! thumbup.gif

Putting salt is no doubt painful. But it's the fastest way for me. And like beck_ken said, no pain no gain.
The pain is only initially anyway, after that there's no pain edi. So when I have an ulcer, I put salt as many times as possible, mainly cause I like the feeling. laugh.gif
But I think too many times isn't good as the gum tends to become like.. I dunno how to put it in words.

I accidentaly tergigit the right side of my mouth and now I'm having a huge ulcer because of that. Can't eat food, can't talk and can't even yawn! sad.gif

This is the 3rd day I'm having that ulcer and the pain seems to be decreased 5% from that of yesterday. My GF gave me bonjela to apply on it but as usual, it was so painful for about 1 minute and then it became numb. 4 hours later, it started to be pain again and the same routine applies.

Haihz.. I hate ulcers! I rather have sorethroat than ulcers!

Lol! You're suppose to gargle at the lowest of your throat when you gargle listerine la. It works wonders when one is having sore throat.
Try Bactidol. The taste is horrible but it numbs the throat right after you gargle. Works very well for me. laugh.gif

If at the side of the mouth then salt will be damn painful. Try using oral paste. I don't like oral paste thou. Like something very kacau in my mouth. blink.gif

some further reading on mouth ulcer

here

actually about the healing part..it's all related to individual..some might take days..some might take week to weeks.

even doctor cant tell you or guarantee you when your ulcer will cured. when have ulcer..you must have lot of rest and sleep early so that the tissue can recover faster.

Just get some ulcer cream from the pharmacy. In my opinion, same as watermelon powder and better than salt.

my sorethroat is not so serious d after consuming around 10 pieces of watermelon powder pills, plus rinse guardian mouth wash on and off.

if buy watermelon powder, buy the one come with spray, easier to handle.

It's mainly used for fast relief for mouth ulcers. Are you referring to it's use for a sore throat? Or ulcers in the throat area?

this will not help speed up the recovery as evtime u suck it..the wound open up again...and lucky there is no infection after wound open..else u going to take more weeks to recover...

anyone tried the green chinese powder ? it used to be really effective few years ago, but lately, they changed the bottle package and also the ingredient powder which makes the medicine not as effective as before, anyone notice ?

So far Bonjela works the best. You can try a combo like rinse with salt water then apply Bonjela. It's better you put it in the fridge for the cooling effect.

ok...it's better to consult doctors if the ulcers occur a lot and frequent. it's how the bacteria infect the throat thus make u got ulcer. my housemate is one of the case where the tonsils are big and doc suggest her to do operations as that may be the cause for her ulcer's occurance. not all mouth ulcers are like that but her is one of a kind. use what cream or what oso no use....gorgle oso no use....

for those occur all the time ..go c doctor/ throat specialist .....it can be serious though...dun play play...

rinse mouth with salt water = painful but eliminates germs and bacteria and promotes recovery.

natural honey is also good. apply in excess to the ulcer.

or u can use conventional medication (e.g. oral aid). i am more in favour to natural way though.

and drink plenty of water.

Come to think of it I haven't had an ulcer for years since taking kefir; kefir must have strengthened my immune system! tongue.gif

Those days I used to get ulcers quite frequently, sometimes 2 ulcers at one time. I preferred Kenalog In Orabase over Bonjela. Kenalog sticks onto the wound on application unlike Bonjela which is immediately washed away by the saliva.

Morning happy.gif

Stomach ulcers are the worse.

As for tongue, gum...antibiotics works nicely

EDIT: I got confused. 'Oral Aid' works nicely.

Buy it at pharmacy or go to the clininc.

Tongue is the worse that I'd experience.

Right on the area near the molar; move the tongue...and the ulcer made contact with the molar.

I was teary the whole time.

Even eating is a nightmare.

Such torture.

Yup, I used to get those ulcers whenever I bit my tongue or my inner cheek. But you don't need antibiotics for ulcers do you?
