i did that before i sold my rig... so yeah its possible...depends on the system stability actually... i clocked my 920 @ 4.2ghz....24/7... all is good... but i use WC for my CPU and NB/SB... =) |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Sep 4 2009, 05:56 PM) i have read all the article that TS provided.. so weird, why people didnt recommend OC(i know its has to be personal risk).. and one the post state that Intel are already OC the proc, so no nedd for use to OC it again.. is that true ?? |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Sep 4 2009, 04:56 PM) Can it? They can be stable, but their lifespan will be reduced. It's like adding NOS to your car engine, more power but also causes more stress and wear. I have no idea how much their lifespan is reduced. Does anyone know?I am planning to get some watercooling for my rig. The tubes will only be passing through the cpu block. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10231516-1.html Also are overclocked cpus stable especially for 24/7 usage? Not much point in running OCed chips 24/7 unless they can auto downclock to minimum non-OC levels. P2P doesn't need much. If a 2 GHz chip can be overclocked up to 4 GHz but Intel only overclocks it to 3 GHz, you can overclock it even higher up until that 4 GHz limit. Just keep in mind that not all chips are made equal. Some i7 might have a maximum of 3 GHz, some have 3.5 GHz and some have 4 GHz. |
