lol, dont be afraid if your counter comes down. it just means extra opportunity for you to accumulate. have that mindset, so even one day taifun come, you are half-win as you're ready for the battle.

It's kind of ironic when we hope our counters to come down, but at the same time, wish it will not go down or better still move upwards

Im seriously considering MBB. If the tiger recovers to pre-BII era, then dividend payout can easily > 10% a year... hmm.gif any advise ?

I went for DIGI as my first telecoms stock but then I dumped it when I realised that they trade at the bottom of the food chain and have no way to generate premium business. Having a non-Bumi/non-Malaysian senior management does them no favours either.

I like DIGI - but not as part of my portfolio. Can't see quite how they will ever be able to formulate a business model that will allow their business to advance beyond 'organic growth'.

IF MAXIS re-lists - then DIGI will be sacrificed on the altar of political expediency IMHO.

Sometimes holding stocks on KLSE seems much more a political decision than a commercial or economic one - which is not a good thing.

Just my view....I'll get my coat... icon_rolleyes.gif

The article don't sounds like talking about economy alone. It is talking about the whole US, the country itself. I believe if US is about to collapse, then it will really be a big deal. Cash or stocks will be just gone. Maybe we will have World War? Nuclear war?

i find the bolded part very true, and yes i fully agree with you on those points but what DiGi has which the two others don't is upper management creativity (which they are losing nowadays), along with their market share of recent i feel. sad.gif

Nasdaq 1967.07 -1.82 -0.09%
S&P 994.75 -3.29 -0.33%

Wow! Certainly looks like the bulls back off at the end of trading session.

This is the 4th trading day since last Friday we're down. We didn't have this since
the last down turn on June 11th. This may be the beginning the correction that
we all been waiting for.

The "less bad" data from US ADP National Employment didn't matter much this time.
The bulls clearly have higher expectation this time.

Oil came in slightly bullish with drawn down in Inventory but not enough to help it to gain back the loss
from yesterday. Therefore, no change at around $68/barrel.

As we get closer to the weekend and after the US labor day holiday, that's should signal the
end to summer driving and the demand for gasoline and oil will diminish.

I think we will continue sideway trading and downtrend from here. nod.gif

Actually I remember in June, we have some minor correction resulting in "kiasu/kiasi" traders selling their stocks, but suddenly all of them were caught off guard when the rally starting to take off. I do agree that we might continue trading sideway and a little downtrend as of now, but will still keep my stocks.

Btw, did anyone of you notice, end of quarter month will usually starts with downtrend, before actually rallying back? Happened in March, June and now September

Sidelines meaning spectators.

Like football the field is where the players are and the sidelines outwards is where the spectators are.

So being sideline means staying out of the field and watching the game.

It doesn't look like the Chinese Hungry Ghost month scary at all.. sad.gif

I was hoping we can see some really scary stuff to scare shit of this market so that it can move.

Maybe those bulls traders made some pretty good offering to them already so that they
continue to stay behind the gates of hades. sad.gif

Sold my last long contract last week at 117x. After it became clear that HSI and STI lost rally momentum.

At current pricing 1 futures lot is equivalent to RM58.6k (1172 x RM 50) in KLCI so i don't dare hold long term. Maybe i'll have guts to do it if i could cough up 25% of that theoratical amount in the distant distant Distant future. Can sleep peacefully as long as KLCI doesn't fluctuate 25% sweat.gif

DJ Hartalega Exec: 2Q Earnings Will At Least Match 1Q's

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--Hartalega Holdings Bhd.'s (5168.KU) earnings in its fiscal second quarter to Sept. 30 will likely match or exceed the results for the first quarter as demand for medical gloves remains strong amid the swine flu outbreak, a top executive said Thursday.

"The second quarter's results will be at least as good as the first quarter's," Deputy Managing Director Kuan Mun Leong told Dow Jones Newswires after the company's annual meeting. He declined to provide a numerical forecast.

Kuan said that based on the results to-date, the company's target of growing its top and bottom lines by between 15% and 25% this year will likely be attained.

The latex glovemaker's fiscal first-quarter net profit more than doubled from a year earlier to MYR26.4 million on revenue that rose 43% to MYR125.3 million due to strong demand for medical examination gloves. The U.S. market accounts for some 75% of the group's sales.

For the fiscal year ended March 31, the company posted a net profit of MYR84.5 million.

Chairman and Managing Director Kuan Kam Hon said at a press conference that the glovemaker's four plants were running "at full capacity" and a fifth factory with 12 new production lines was now being planned for completion by the second half of 2011.

Hartalega plans MYR130 million in capital expenditure in the current fiscal year ending March 31 partly to finance the new plant and to upgrade its oldest plant, he said.

Yup, I have the same feeling for current stock market behaviour, nowdays people treat stock market more like a casino table, buy stock like gambling only. Even US market also the same currently. People like to buy GM(previously already closed shop one), as AIG recently which has negative tangible equity company. People just want fast moving stocks. sweat.gif
See this comment on CNBC. http://www.cnbc.com/id/32656193

Having said that, share price over long term for sure cannot run away its fundamental. No matter how, fundamental play will prevail as this is the basic of investment and why we want to put money in stock market.

The index is only a representation of the big cap stocks only. It's just a general reference on how the stock market is performing in general. Sometimes, when the KLCI/FBM30 moves down, a particular stock can move up or vice versa. I prefere to use bottom-up approach in stock investment rather than top-bottom. What I mean is it's better to study individual stocks, then look at their industry, then the economy etc.

A news on Harta

Wow... second half of 2011. My client told me about this few months ago and then come back to me saying that there will be further delay. Now I can see why.

Has anyone notice how China SSE market is manipulated by the sharks?

Past 2-3 weeks, the sharks talk down the market. Bam! They got -20% decline.

Now, the sharks talk up the market.. yesterday, they got 5% gain and going back up.

It turns out the sharks are the Chinese Govt itself. They're the Bilderburg group
itself in disguise and making the investors ride this roller coaster. tongue.gif

SSE itself is a giant casino.
im looking at 2600 and for HSI around 18600 as a time when the market should start rallying again.

then again im wrong for most of the time tongue.gif

you know what's the worst part?
KLCI's trading at a premium compared to regional peers, plus our rally has lagged behind them. what a sad sad market.

IIRC, the P/E ratio for DJIA is somewhere is the 80-90s. i might be wrong although that's a pretty insane figure.

Yes...I haven't checked recently but AFAIK it's in the 60s.
DOOMCAKE will know.
Kind of puts things in perspective - doesn't it??
Think SSE is about the same but since the Index goes up and down faster than a whore's drawers, it's difficult to tell.... hmm.gif

a decent entry would be about 3.30-3.35 where it meets the 14d MA and fibo 38.2%, presuming it still has the fundamentals (note the bold) to go up.

i'll keep this stock in view along with 5215 hehe tongue.gif

Not sure about DJ, I don't normally care for that because some of the underlying Dow30 are way overvalued
and are skewed. Also there is a temporal adjustment one has to make depending on which economists you talk to .eg inflation, etc.

I prefer to look at S&P500. The S&P500 is around 15-18. If close to 18, it is over-valued, therefore time to sell (right now is around 17+). tongue.gif

Is it a norm that family give very high allowance for their children? Seems like when I compare myself with even junior 1 year younger than me, they are actually getting quite high allowance from family when they study in the uni, while I got 0. cry.gif

Good for you as you have more capital, and you are ahead among your peers.
Just that you the way you take stocks as gambling which is quite contradicting "would benefit me" idea, don't you think so? hmm.gif hmm.gif

It could take years before FF have the confident to invest in our market because of the flip-flop policies that we have. Another thing is, FF don't have favourite. Anytime soon, they can change. So, you never know whether they will buy that stock again. Just my opinion, though.

agreed. current market conditions still don't favour FFs. even M&As like what they all predicted would happen with the liberalisation didn't happen.

there is no dividend announcement from bjtoto recently...
however the interim financial report should be out this month, and no one really knows whether there will be any entitlement (dividend)

HwangDBS Vickers Research Sdn Bhd noted ;

The local bourse – fallen less than most of its regional peers yesterday (Wed) – might drift lower ahead and expects the benchmark FBM KLCI to probably remain above its immediate support level of 1,160 and investors would be inclined to sell (rather than buy) at this juncture given the uninspiring performance on Wall Street. USA - Unemployment hit consumer spending, which accounts for about 70 percent of U.S. economic activity therefore without help from consumers, the US economy will trouble pulling out.

HwangDBS Vickers Research Sdn Bhd noted ;

USA - Unemployment hit consumer spending, which accounts for about 70 percent of U.S. economic activity therefore without help from consumers, the US economy will trouble pulling out.

agreed. fully agreed. but i couldn't care less.

KLCI green, YTL red. KLCI red, YTL green.

I wish KLCI fall to 800. maybe YTL will rise to 10 ringgit.

Yup, agreed. KLSE got her own 'mircochips processor'. We chart up, she goes down, we chart down, she surge like org mabuk...

Updated: 12:35 PM ET - US markets are advancing today. The NASDAQ is up 0.38%, while the S&P 500 is up 0.37% and DJIA is up 0.30%.

NASDAQ Composite
S&P 500 998.48 +3.73
DJIA 9,309 +27.89
NASDAQ 1,974 +7.39

Point to ponder :

August will likely be the sixth consecutive month of gains for the stock market, giving the S&P 500 a 40% leap since March—the kind of performance that's hard to sustain without a break. "Clearly, we're due to at least go sideways for a bit, We could get a correction in here." James King, president and chief investment officer at National Penn Investors Trust, expects a tougher September. After months of gains, "the markets want some new exciting news". They're unlikely to get it with the economy recovering so slowly. "Things are plodding along, with modest, slow improvements,"

Tanglewood's Merrill, by contrast, believes the stock market is in a "positive cycle," where better-than-expected news is building on itself. When it comes to the economy, "the vast majority of statistics have been better than expected," he says.

Many analysts, including Merrill, O'Rourke, and Wilson, believe a correction for the stock market in the fall could be shallow, if one happens at all. Hundreds of billions of dollars were pulled from the equity markets in the past year and stored in cash accounts, and that hoard could return as conditions improve. Whatever happens this autumn, the month of September will not be the prime factor. This time of year may be fertile ground for market meltdowns, but any such event would undoubtedly be triggered by economic or corporate news, not by the calendar.

plus, i'm scared after what happened to my KNM contra.

bought at 86.5, rose to 91 sens on T+3, me greedy wanted it to release at 92.5/93. failed to break 91sens twice. next day FF dumped 32mil shares. fell to 74 sens today. averaged down twice.
that was a huge lesson laugh.gif

Different type of counter, different approach. Anyway, it seems like TA very hard to break 1.30, although I do hope it will, else I'll just wait for TA Global

Problem with most of us. Never know which counter to average and which counter to cut loss. Ended up, might be keeping junks and sell off all the gems

well that's quite true. although my fair value of KNM is still maintained at about 93-95 sens. so the stock's going long instead.

i think TA's run it's course already. about 25% up from my ABP so i think it's run it's course (for now).

Did we rally?.. well, not really. biggrin.gif
Late day.. some buyers came back in to buy, but volume is low.

We have been going through back and forth again like yesterday.
At least the bears gave some back during end of day, sorta a like teaser to the bulls. tongue.gif

I expect tomorrow will be slow. Not sure if the job numbers will be a catalyst at all. I think the expectation
is that the numbers should be slightly positive. Besides, most traders already left for the upcoming weekend holidays and the US market closed on next Monday.

Oil trade around the same as yesterday $68..
I would like to see Oil breaks below $68 for energy stocks to correct. biggrin.gif

Or... maybe the PPT will step in and surprise the bears. blink.gif

Well, not just pray. Remember, before you decide to sell and take loss,
it may help to post the challenge that you're having (or difficulty to decide)
the counter that you're playing and the price movement that you're expecting on your
average price.

There are some people here (people who are much more smarter than me) who
are knowledgeable on that counter both TA and FA can help you to decide your exit strategy.

We all got burned by stocks at one time or the other.
There is no shame in asking for help or share experience and it doesn't matter if you're young or old. nod.gif

It's very interesting.
This news about the early opening of the SG casino was out two or three weeks ago and it didn't stop the price dropping to sub 6.00. Now it's around 7.00 and everyone says it's 'cos of this old news....
Is it some kind of delayed reaction ?

this is the second time i heard abt the early opening speculation

which is also the second time the price jumped

i think there are more to come

who knows we might be able to see Genting at 8, by year end rolleyes.gif

p/s: while GENM is a little left behind. resistance at 3 is hard to break.

would strongly note their 82% decline in YoY 1Q earnings, so the fair value definitely has dropped.

Market probably only have big move (up or down) after Monday or Tuesday (US labour day on Monday, so closed).

Because next week market here will digest the US employment situation which being known tonight, (which is the key to receovery), while after Labour day, they always said big players finished their summer holiday, come back to work liao.

Market started its big move almost around at this time last year. ph34r.gif

Wonder what will happen on Monday with Wall Street closed.... hmm.gif

Last time the NYSE was closed (in May, I think it was) the KLSE went on a major goreng binge like a bunch of wild school kids throwing a party with the parents away. Went up 10 or 12 points IIRC laugh.gif

Axreit is also my top performance star in my portfolio, but small quantity only. 2.xx% of my total portfolio.  Nevertheless, better than none.  laugh.gif

yeah i agree with you, axreit consist of 16% of my total portfolio. what i am suprised is, Axreit has consistently (steadily appreciated)that is has beaten most of my blue chip counters.

TM being the largest chunk about 55%, in terms of appreciation it has really gone a long way. (not that i am complaining, it has taken me more than 4 months to breakeven) average buy price at 3.23.

Anyway guys have a good weekend.

"mega sales", for me is technically "LOW" or "Bottoming" in current "wave" (i used to call it waves).

examples are "Bottoming" in few stocks, such as Airasia, Equine, MRCB, & Muhibah, and they re-bounce in this two days.

tonight wait for DJIA taikor to decide the overall trend (CI) for next week. biggrin.gif

Yes, the Dollar usually trade in inverse of the equities.

Right now, the slightly higher unemployment number could mean nothing but a shrug off.
Volume is expected to be low tonight because a lot of traders are on holiday. Next week, it could be ugly. biggrin.gif

Look at gold prices! It has jumped! People are nervous! biggrin.gif

Profit figure up as compared to last year figure. But after right issue, there are more shares to dilute the EPS and NTA.

Headline figure sometimes can lie even though they are correct.

Short covering? Manipulated by short term players. Also, MM brings this up so that they can bring it
down next week for profits.

>Why gold price rising and we should be nervous?
Fear! Gold is safety. Good hedge against falling equities.

>Why Dollars up mean equities will go down?
Dollar (Treasury) is also perceived as safety... equities and commodity goes down, USD will go up.

I think when traders return next week, and if they won't like the unemployment numbers,
bam! down we go again.. This is a like roller coaster ride for now. tongue.gif

Yes... if stocks go down..investors want safe haven... US treasury.. precious metals (gold and silver).
You'll always hear the financial news reporter says.. "Equities down.. Treasury ticks up" or "We got a rally..the Dollar is down".

Back in March.. when we got that big dip.. US dollar and Japanese Yen.. all time high. Same goes for Gold.
People were afraid - go for cash and precious metals.

it should be - when equities r overbought (high risk), they move their money (take profit from equities) and put in to GOLD (then gold tend to rise due to this demand) or other safe currencies (possibly doing carry trade)

plz enlighten me....

Maybe it is like what DMC has said.. most traders are on holiday + thin volume + ppl buying treasuries, bonds, metals making it easy for them(PPT,Bilderberg, GSachs) to push Dow up...

So far their only argument is that unemployment is a lagging indicator and will continue to rise even US is out of recession. doh.gif

US is just living on Stimulus. When the effect runs out, then what? laugh.gif Print more money for Stimulus 2? by that time US :byebye: already..

Well, today isn't good for late shorts. doh.gif I think we did have a mini run up today.
I believe this isn't true buying but a lot of short covering. People want to cash
out during the weekend and shorts are taking opportunity to exit the door after the unemployment numbers came out.
I'm one of those. tongue.gif Not willing to hold out during the weekend.

The bad news actually favor bears.. and as more US banks continue to fail and get shut down by US FDIC this weekend.

As for energy, Oil actually went down today (below 68). It is rare that Oil doesn't follow equities and this is one of those day.
Natural gas surged up - likely caused by short covering again because of the oversold condition by the UNG ETF.

Overall, for this week, we actually are still down from last week.

Next week will be interesting when traders return.. let see if there is such a thing: Black Tuesday, maybe we can start off a real correction from there. brows.gif
