QUOTE(panasonic88 @ Sep 2 2009, 05:01 PM) index green or red doesnt matter ler. yeahhh totally agreed.somehow i wish her to come down. the faster, the better, no need to suffer. the trend now is like, everyday CI closed -3 points lower. one day fall 20 points. next day another 20 points. just like the old index would do. down to 1100 in 3 days, then i'll be celebrating. |

It's kind of ironic when we hope our counters to come down, but at the same time, wish it will not go down or better still move upwards |

If the tiger recovers to pre-BII era, then dividend payout can easily > 10% a year... QUOTE(jasontoh @ Sep 2 2009, 05:18 PM) 7 cents up only right? or 70 cents? today up 7cents only, but toto had been so quiet for the past 1.5 months.. today's 7cents in a red market could be hinting something ..Added on September 2, 2009, 5:19 pm What about Maxis? QUOTE(teehk_tee @ Sep 2 2009, 05:25 PM) I went for DIGI as my first telecoms stock but then I dumped it when I realised that they trade at the bottom of the food chain and have no way to generate premium business. Having a non-Bumi/non-Malaysian senior management does them no favours either.I like DIGI - but not as part of my portfolio. Can't see quite how they will ever be able to formulate a business model that will allow their business to advance beyond 'organic growth'. IF MAXIS re-lists - then DIGI will be sacrificed on the altar of political expediency IMHO. Sometimes holding stocks on KLSE seems much more a political decision than a commercial or economic one - which is not a good thing. Just my view....I'll get my coat... QUOTE(David_Brent @ Sep 2 2009, 10:08 PM) I went for DIGI as my first telecoms stock but then I dumped it when I realised that they trade at the bottom of the food chain and have no way to generate premium business. Having a non-Bumi/non-Malaysian senior management does them no favours either. i find the bolded part very true, and yes i fully agree with you on those points but what DiGi has which the two others don't is upper management creativity (which they are losing nowadays), along with their market share of recent i feel. I like DIGI - but not as part of my portfolio. Dow 9280.67 -29.93 -0.32%
Nasdaq 1967.07 -1.82 -0.09% S&P 994.75 -3.29 -0.33% Wow! Certainly looks like the bulls back off at the end of trading session. This is the 4th trading day since last Friday we're down. We didn't have this since the last down turn on June 11th. This may be the beginning the correction that we all been waiting for. The "less bad" data from US ADP National Employment didn't matter much this time. The bulls clearly have higher expectation this time. Oil came in slightly bullish with drawn down in Inventory but not enough to help it to gain back the loss from yesterday. Therefore, no change at around $68/barrel. As we get closer to the weekend and after the US labor day holiday, that's should signal the end to summer driving and the demand for gasoline and oil will diminish. I think we will continue sideway trading and downtrend from here. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Sep 3 2009, 06:13 AM |

QUOTE(danmooncake @ Sep 3 2009, 01:55 AM) Dow 9280.67 -29.93 -0.32% Actually I remember in June, we have some minor correction resulting in "kiasu/kiasi" traders selling their stocks, but suddenly all of them were caught off guard when the rally starting to take off. I do agree that we might continue trading sideway and a little downtrend as of now, but will still keep my stocks. Nasdaq 1967.07 -1.82 -0.09% S&P 994.75 -3.29 -0.33% Wow! QUOTE(simplesmile @ Sep 3 2009, 12:44 PM) Sold my last long contract last week at 117x. After it became clear that HSI and STI lost rally momentum.At current pricing 1 futures lot is equivalent to RM58.6k (1172 x RM 50) in KLCI so i don't dare hold long term. Maybe i'll have guts to do it if i could cough up 25% of that theoratical amount in the distant distant Distant future. Can sleep peacefully as long as KLCI doesn't fluctuate 25% This post has been edited by Medufsaid: Sep 3 2009, 02:04 PM |

A news on Harta
DJ Hartalega Exec: 2Q Earnings Will At Least Match 1Q's -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--Hartalega Holdings Bhd.'s (5168.KU) earnings in its fiscal second quarter to Sept. 30 will likely match or exceed the results for the first quarter as demand for medical gloves remains strong amid the swine flu outbreak, a top executive said Thursday. "The second quarter's results will be at least as good as the first quarter's," Deputy Managing Director Kuan Mun Leong told Dow Jones Newswires after the company's annual meeting. He declined to provide a numerical forecast. Kuan said that based on the results to-date, the company's target of growing its top and bottom lines by between 15% and 25% this year will likely be attained. The latex glovemaker's fiscal first-quarter net profit more than doubled from a year earlier to MYR26.4 million on revenue that rose 43% to MYR125.3 million due to strong demand for medical examination gloves. The U.S. market accounts for some 75% of the group's sales. For the fiscal year ended March 31, the company posted a net profit of MYR84.5 million. Chairman and Managing Director Kuan Kam Hon said at a press conference that the glovemaker's four plants were running "at full capacity" and a fifth factory with 12 new production lines was now being planned for completion by the second half of 2011. Hartalega plans MYR130 million in capital expenditure in the current fiscal year ending March 31 partly to finance the new plant and to upgrade its oldest plant, he said. -By K.P. QUOTE(andy888 @ Sep 3 2009, 03:30 PM) don know now stock is to be invest or just a gamble ( hit and run) Yup, I have the same feeling for current stock market behaviour, nowdays people treat stock market more like a casino table, buy stock like gambling only. Even US market also the same currently. People like to buy GM(previously already closed shop one), as AIG recently which has negative tangible equity company. People just want fast moving stocks. Added on September 3, 2009, 3:31 pm don know now stock is to be invest or just a gamble ( hit and run) See this comment on CNBC. http://www.cnbc.com/id/32656193 Having said that, share price over long term for sure cannot run away its fundamental. No matter how, fundamental play will prevail as this is the basic of investment and why we want to put money in stock market. |

QUOTE(chyaw @ Sep 3 2009, 03:46 PM) A news on Harta Wow... second half of 2011. My client told me about this few months ago and then come back to me saying that there will be further delay. Now I can see why.DJ Hartalega Exec: 2Q Earnings Will At Least Match 1Q's -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KUALA LUMPUR (Dow Jones)--Hartalega Holdings Bhd.'s (5168.KU) earnings in its fiscal second quarter to Sept. -By K.P. Has anyone notice how China SSE market is manipulated by the sharks?
Past 2-3 weeks, the sharks talk down the market. Bam! They got -20% decline. Now, the sharks talk up the market.. yesterday, they got 5% gain and going back up. It turns out the sharks are the Chinese Govt itself. They're the Bilderburg group itself in disguise and making the investors ride this roller coaster. |

IIRC, the P/E ratio for DJIA is somewhere is the 80-90s. i might be wrong although that's a pretty insane figure.

Not sure about DJ, I don't normally care for that because some of the underlying Dow30 are way overvaluedand are skewed. Also there is a temporal adjustment one has to make depending on which economists you talk to .eg inflation, etc. I prefer to look at S&P500. The S&P500 is around 15-18. If close to 18, it is over-valued, therefore time to sell (right now is around 17+). HwangDBS Vickers Research Sdn Bhd noted ;
The local bourse – fallen less than most of its regional peers yesterday (Wed) – might drift lower ahead and expects the benchmark FBM KLCI to probably remain above its immediate support level of 1,160 and investors would be inclined to sell (rather than buy) at this juncture given the uninspiring performance on Wall Street. USA - Unemployment hit consumer spending, which accounts for about 70 percent of U.S. economic activity therefore without help from consumers, the US economy will trouble pulling out. |

QUOTE(mazda626 @ Sep 4 2009, 12:28 AM) HwangDBS Vickers Research Sdn Bhd noted ; agreed. fully agreed. but i couldn't care less.The local bourse – fallen less than most of its regional peers yesterday (Wed) – might drift lower ahead and expects the benchmark FBM KLCI to probably remain above its immediate support level of 1,160 and investors would be inclined to sell (rather than buy) at this juncture given the uninspiring performance on Wall Street. USA - Unemployment hit consumer spending, which accounts for about 70 percent of U.S. economic activity therefore without help from consumers, the US economy will trouble pulling out. I wish KLCI fall to 800. maybe YTL will rise to 10 ringgit. edit: just kidding. no hard feelings mate. Updated: 12:35 PM ET - US markets are advancing today. The NASDAQ is up 0.38%, while the S&P 500 is up 0.37% and DJIA is up 0.30%. NASDAQ Composite S&P 500 998.48 +3.73 DJIA 9,309 +27.89 NASDAQ 1,974 +7.39 Point to ponder : August will likely be the sixth consecutive month of gains for the stock market, giving the S&P 500 a 40% leap since March—the kind of performance that's hard to sustain without a break. "Clearly, we're due to at least go sideways for a bit, We could get a correction in here." James King, president and chief investment officer at National Penn Investors Trust, expects a tougher September. After months of gains, "the markets want some new exciting news". They're unlikely to get it with the economy recovering so slowly. "Things are plodding along, with modest, slow improvements," Tanglewood's Merrill, by contrast, believes the stock market is in a "positive cycle," where better-than-expected news is building on itself. When it comes to the economy, "the vast majority of statistics have been better than expected," he says. Many analysts, including Merrill, O'Rourke, and Wilson, believe a correction for the stock market in the fall could be shallow, if one happens at all. Hundreds of billions of dollars were pulled from the equity markets in the past year and stored in cash accounts, and that hoard could return as conditions improve. Whatever happens this autumn, the month of September will not be the prime factor. This time of year may be fertile ground for market meltdowns, but any such event would undoubtedly be triggered by economic or corporate news, not by the calendar. Nasdaq 1983.20 +16.13 +0.82% S&P 1003.24 +8.49 +0.85% Did we rally?.. well, not really. Late day.. some buyers came back in to buy, but volume is low. We have been going through back and forth again like yesterday. At least the bears gave some back during end of day, sorta a like teaser to the bulls. I expect tomorrow will be slow. Not sure if the job numbers will be a catalyst at all. I think the expectation is that the numbers should be slightly positive. Besides, most traders already left for the upcoming weekend holidays and the US market closed on next Monday. Oil trade around the same as yesterday $68.. I would like to see Oil breaks below $68 for energy stocks to correct. Or... maybe the PPT will step in and surprise the bears. This post has been edited by danmooncake: Sep 4 2009, 06:14 AM |

Remember, before you decide to sell and take loss, it may help to post the challenge that you're having (or difficulty to decide) the counter that you're playing and the price movement that you're expecting on your average price. There are some people here (people who are much more smarter than me) who are knowledgeable on that counter both TA and FA can help you to decide your exit strategy. We all got burned by stocks at one time or the other. There is no shame in asking for help or share experience and it doesn't matter if you're young or old. QUOTE(protonw @ Sep 4 2009, 05:32 PM) Axreit is also my top performance star in my portfolio, but small quantity only. 2.xx% of my total portfolio. Nevertheless, better than none. yeah i agree with you, axreit consist of 16% of my total portfolio. what i am suprised is, Axreit has consistently (steadily appreciated)that is has beaten most of my blue chip counters.TM being the largest chunk about 55%, in terms of appreciation it has really gone a long way. (not that i am complaining, it has taken me more than 4 months to breakeven) average buy price at 3.23. Anyway guys have a good weekend. This post has been edited by aurora97: Sep 4 2009, 05:50 PM |

QUOTE(teehk_tee @ Sep 4 2009, 07:19 PM) "mega sales", for me is technically "LOW" or "Bottoming" in current "wave" (i used to call it waves).examples are "Bottoming" in few stocks, such as Airasia, Equine, MRCB, & Muhibah, and they re-bounce in this two days. tonight wait for DJIA taikor to decide the overall trend (CI) for next week. |

QUOTE(瘟神 @ Sep 4 2009, 08:49 PM) usually USD up, US markets down, right? All these three news is good for USD , means DJIA going to south? Yes, the Dollar usually trade in inverse of the equities.Right now, the slightly higher unemployment number could mean nothing but a shrug off. QUOTE(jasontoh @ Sep 5 2009, 01:43 AM) Got. I remember mopster say something about Dialog making loss about 7B or something like tat, I was surprised almost heart attack, but then the Dialog is not our Dialog (KLCI). It is the one in India. QUOTE(teehk_tee @ Sep 5 2009, 01:46 AM) ouch. that's big. i don't think their indonesian operations are running along nicely as well. eek! yeah, 7B but rupee.... i not sure how much converted to RM... maybe very little... sounds like another astro with toxic foreign assets! Dialog Telekom Sri Lanka ----------------------------- Dialog Turns to Loss on Higher Administrative Costs (Update1) http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=new...id=aWfDCX4vBQoM Added on September 5, 2009, 3:54 amIm very surprised... unemployment is at 26year high (9.7%) and Dow doesnt give a damn ? plz enlighten me.... Maybe it is like what DMC has said.. most traders are on holiday + thin volume + ppl buying treasuries, bonds, metals making it easy for them(PPT,Bilderberg, GSachs) to push Dow up... So far their only argument is that unemployment is a lagging indicator and will continue to rise even US is out of recession. US is just living on Stimulus. When the effect runs out, then what? Just my opinion. plz correct me where ever fit.. This post has been edited by mopster: Sep 5 2009, 04:00 AM |

Dow 9441.27 +96.66 +1.03%
Nasdaq 2018.78 +35.58 +1.79% S&P 1016.40 +13.16 1.31% Well, today isn't good for late shorts. I believe this isn't true buying but a lot of short covering. People want to cash out during the weekend and shorts are taking opportunity to exit the door after the unemployment numbers came out. I'm one of those. The bad news actually favor bears.. and as more US banks continue to fail and get shut down by US FDIC this weekend. As for energy, Oil actually went down today (below 68). It is rare that Oil doesn't follow equities and this is one of those day. Natural gas surged up - likely caused by short covering again because of the oversold condition by the UNG ETF. Overall, for this week, we actually are still down from last week. Next week will be interesting when traders return.. let see if there is such a thing: Black Tuesday, maybe we can start off a real correction from there.
