What do you do when you've been training for awhile and your weight seems to be stuck at a certain amount?
*
Its time to visit the 'Why aren't u growing ?' thread brows.gif

The important thing is don't stop doing whatever you r doing. It might just need a tweak somewhere - either yr diet or exercise routine. Hit yr body like a brute vmad.gif consistently and it will give in to your will .. unless u really need a break.

Oh, I managed to read somewhere on the net that some dude did this for his negative pull ups:
3 set x 3 reps. Each rep, he jumps up & hangs on the top for as long as possible, then comes down slowly. You might wanna try it out.

Thats how i started chinning last time. It works thumbup.gif

dudes
asking question yang orang lain slalu tanye
but im just curious, say if im overseas and no whey
but gym is well equipped
i got a week and meeting pun like 1-2 hours je per day
and i decide to go to gym and work my self like hell till maybe burn about 700-1000kcal

then i wanna take whey but no whey with me
only skim milk
whats the best option for post workout fast absorbing protein which is easily accessible eh?
*
Hey, I have the same problem too when i'm not in the country. But why skim milk ? Thought 1 or 2% fat milk is better than skimmed ones.

Some of these came to my mind, though the protein content is not that great but at least something :
- Complan, Ensure or other off-the-shelf meal replacement powder.
- Goat's milk powder, better absorption than cow's milk.

I guess they don't come under the 'whey' category in a strict sense but it ought to b good enough because protein needs some carbs in it to aid absorption and also to replace the muscle glycogen.

Maybe u can ask a gym-goer there where he gets his whey flex.gif

Everywhere i read, it says sleeping time is catabolic and muscle breaks down during sleep.

On the other hand, everyone seems to say we grow when we sleep.

I don't seem to be able to reconcile both of these statements. Is there something i don't 'see' ?

are you even eating enough during the day to worry bout this, you are definitely still small and weak, so quit worrying about small details like this.
*
Dang, yor bare-fisted words really pack a punch. Actually true also, my diet is still below par quality-wise (my colleague commented 'u eat so much but only gain a little') rclxub.gif but small and weak ppl r always hungry for knowledge mah smile.gif

Growth hormones. You don't get enough sleep, you don't get to repair and grow.

And where did you read that "sleeping time is catabolic and muscle breaks down during"?
*
About this catabolic thing, those supplement ads always promote their casein, saying that zz is catabolic & drinking casein will prevent this breakdown. I'm doing some reading now on this article by berardi, http://www.johnberardi.com/articles/nutrition/bedtime.htm whose name gets thrown ard a lot. See what i can 'understand'.

Btw saw in some article that ectos need even more sleep than others. What a tough life for skinnies.

MRpotato, in your PM you think that I half that portion posted. If you are able to stomach that portion in every meal, then by all means. If you're not, adjust. The human has logic and one should always use it.
*
Is it quite inevitable, normal and even a pre-requisite to have some padding around the mid in order to bulk ? From yr pm & angrydog's foto, i surmise it is. Just wanna be sure before i go down that path because looking at my pouch last time really turns me off.

Immediate effect, and at the dosage I take it lasts for the better part of the day. Can't live without it now, especially not after heavy deadlifts.

Hey, how much (mg) do u take per day now ? And what immediate effects did it give u ? U take them after exer ?

I shall begin an experiment with Betaine HCl in 2 weeks when my supplies arrive. Excited. I've been experiencing loss of appetite, smelly stools, funny funny looking leftovers in my crap, strange body odor, bad ass stress and lethargy. Hopefully this HCl will be my door to better digestion and steady muscle gain and fat loss.

My tomato skin came out bright orange in my stools blush.gif Waiting to hear of your results. Anyway, might it be sth to do with your immune system instead ? Seeing how u like to push yr workouts real hard.

That is why I keep stressing that if for bodybuilding purposes, 5 x 5 isn't really ideal anymore. If a beginner wants to build a base, then maybe Rippetoe's is kinda.... ok. But once he gets past that newbie stage, he should start a bodybuilding oriented program already.
*
Darklight, how about if if modify it to 5x8, would that be better ? Thx. A bodybuilding program is one with higher volume right ?

Was reading this BB.com & some ppl throwing figures like 9 sets, 12, 20 and even 27 sets for their bodypart training. Then of course the usual 5x5 also got.

http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=106984011

Anyone doing those humungous sets here ? Whats the feeling like ?

But .. won't that be real exhausting ? It sounds like it should do a whole lot of good compared to 4sets but sounds crazy the same time..

How to recover from such rigorous workouts ? Its not for everyone right ?
