no 1 can tell you which class to play.

It really depends on your preferences, whether you like healing ppl, tanking boss, do reallly hard damage, etc...

but healing class, always shortage and popular for demand, i.e. you get invites to instances/dungeons/raids 1st.

how many of you are starting?

perhaps you can segrigate among you guys, different classes.

that's how I did it among my friends, when we started during WOW Classic:

01) Warrior
02) Warlock
03) Shaman
04) Hunter
05) Mage
06) Rogue

Both classes very fun to play and always in demand.

Added on September 1, 2009, 6:30 pmAlso pls create your characters on Oceanic servers. If you create on US servers u will be playing with Ang Moh who mostly play from 6am-12pm our time.

now u see? all the different replies...

take Quazacolt's advise... go through those useful links.

Seriously... read up those links... they are really useful and can help you decide.

WoW is a seriuz biznez! thumbup.gif

also take B@rt's advise... try playing it in Oceanic Servers, which has more Asians (MY/SG) playing, i.e. same time zone. Else you+friends need to stay up at 2-3am to play with players in US.

if you like to charge recklessly into opponent crowd and blame healers, roll a warrior
if you like to do it from behind, roll a rogue
if you like animal orgies, roll a drood
if you like to putting stuff here and there, roll a shaman
if you like vending machine, roll a mage
if you like killing people with dots while being chase around, roll a warlock
if you like to play dead, roll a hunter
if you like to nurse, roll a priest
if you like escaping with 1 macro face-rolling while running along with DK, roll a paladin
if you like to play yoyo, roll a DK (1 65 toon required)

in general,

if you like Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game, roll any toon
if you like Many Men Online Role Play Gurls, roll only female toon

first learn on how to create a WoW macro in the first place. and if ur thinking of automation macros aka botting, think again on your starterpack + subscription.

G15 itself threads a grey line when it comes to its macro capabilities. then again so long your only using WoW in game permitted macros, its no biggie.

Don't worry about macros just yet. If you can't decide on a class, randomly choose one and slowly learn. I started out as a warrior, switched to a shaman and now raid on a hunter.

easy access to skills (with modifier like ctrl/ shift), or chaining certain combo

the best example how a paladin escape his foes, with macro user has access of simple 'bubble' and 'hearth stone', which make the paladin escape without wasting time clicking both button

all servers are hosted in the US but with different timing. my server is US mountain time, for us in +8 GMT, US time servers is the best to to farm as we are always online when everyones asleep. best raiding time are always in the morning 9am till abt 2pm when the server starts to sleep. we start farming rare mounts stuff etc and it gets less laggy. server starts to wake up abt 9pm, raids reset at 12pm +8GMT (msia time) so u can do the same raid twice. and dailies reset at 3pm or 4pm msia time. therefore i can do the same dailies in the spc of a few hrs. in US servers people tend to do heroic dailies b4 they go to work. usually about 9pm(msia time) daily raids could be found.

add ons im not pretty sure about the legality of that..

but what i can say it helps..

when u have a prob with your UI or something..dont mention to the GM's about yr addons...they blame it on that cut conversation short..
although yr addons has nothing to do with yr prob..
example " AFK" stuck beside me name...
i only have bagnon and quest helper...
i cant relate qh and bagnon got to do with that ui prob...
Blizz turn me down..

1. Beware of suspicious sites and emails. Now that you have WoW there are myriad of ways your computer can get infected and your password/id stolen. Always keep your WoW details safe and your original discs/covers/serials and account information handy.

2. Addons are legal, however, only download them from legit sites like http://wowinterface.com/find.php or http://www.curse.com/

3. Once you picked your class, head over to http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/child-fo...forumId=6647729 for your class forums. Check the stickies there are always guides on how to gear your classes, talent builds and skill explainations.

4. Questhelper is a great addon for leveling. But it's not infallible. Whenever you're stumped, head on to http://www.wowhead.com/

5. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/child-fo...l?forumId=11119 find your server forums. See if there's any recruitment threads once you're confident enough in your class. Mingle around, don't be afraid to post.

6. If you want to keep up with upcoming WoW news and changes, read http://www.mmo-champion.com/

If you make a character in Gorgonnash, you will be able to play that character there. You're not "duplicating" multiple characters over different servers. You can make a total of 10 characters per server, for a total of 50 (? not sure) playable characters across all the realms.

You can opt for a PAID character transfer, ie move your character from one server to another. This is why some posters above advocate rolling (making your character) in an Oceanic server, to increase the chance of you meeting up and playing with other same time-zone players.

sadly, i wish those are channels...

each toon is stuck to the server where they was created, but transfer are viable for free/fee according to server population

if you like horde and don't like being disturbed, PvE server or overpopulated Thaurissan(PvP) is a good choice...

1stly, i would like to welcome you and your mate to wow
i think i miss something, which side are you going to roll on, alliance or horde?

one more thing, thaurissan is heavy with horde player, the horde outnumber the alliance bout 3:1,
so you roll alliance, you pretty much see more red names (opposition faction), than green names(friendly charater),

my advice to you is:

beware of lag

full install 1st(wow + 2 expension + all the patches), only then start create account, maybe you can use the trial account for 10days free.( you can only start playing if you have install the latest patch, i waste a few days while trying to download patches due to slow connection)

don't trust any random whisper thats said any special "offer" from a website, they are mostly keylogger(steal your account and password).

Blizzard staff will NEVER ASK for your password.

stay out of any alien/unfamilier wow fan website.
the ones Quazacolt and Ray123 introduce are safe thumbup.gif
since youy are begining, you should go official website or wowwiki for more detail/advice

when you are confuse about a quest, go to wowhead for answer.

thaurissan is a pvp server, while leveling, please stay out of hillbrad foothills(aka Gankbrad) and Stranglethorn Vale to avoid ganking

The Barrens is a huge zone, to walk palces to places, so try to plan ahead where you going.

in Un'goro Crater, beware of stealth T-Rex

in outland, beware death from above, as lvl cap player can use flying mount and hunt lowbie players. (than again, you can't out run them anyway, since they hit lvl cap sad.gif )

in Hellfire Peninsula, beware of fel reaver(a very cool giant walking robot)

that all i can think of now, may edit for more info

ps. this game is a demon if you are addict to it.

Don't ask us what class you should roll though. Please pick a class which you really like the idea/concept of. What do you enjoy doing in a social game?

1. Supporting your friends? Healing them, make them more effective?
(priest, shaman, druid, paladin)

2. Be THE MAIN MAN in front, protecting your teammates
(warrior, paladin, death knight, druid)

3. Shoot freakin laser beams safely from afar
(warlock, mage, hunter, shaman, priest, druid)

4. Jack of all trades, whatever suits your fancy
(druid, shaman, paladin)

5. Sneaky clever cunning bastaard
(rogue)

6. Farking powerful guy with big farking sword
(warrior, death knight, paladin)

7. Someone with cool pets
(warlock, hunter)

Well I guess to be more accurate it has to mean class that has permanent pet system with deep functionality, and a talent tree devoted to the pet synergy laugh.gif

If you're starting anew, I suggest you just download the trial account from the website. When you finally decide to continue, then you just upgrade your trial account to full (via credit card). You don't really need to go out and buy, and actually upgrading online is cheaper (because you don't really get the CD and stuffs).

Since you mentioned your friend already bought the CDs, just borrow from him and install. Then upgrade your account online.

Also, since you're not really level 60 yet, you don't really need to buy the 2 expansions first. When you reach 60, then you can buy the Burning Crusade. When you reach 70, then you buy Wrath of the Lich King. The 2 expansions don't really add anything to the game if you're below those levels. (and yea, you can also upgrade your account with these expansions online)

Thaurissan may be the best server for GMT+8 players due to our high population there, but take note it is also a PvP server. PvP means people from the opposing faction can KILL you if they spot you. Although Thaurissan is heavily outnumbered by Horde (so if you really play here, make sure you create a Horde character), you can still get unlucky and get killed over and over again which will not be fun. tongue.gif

If you want to just enjoy playing the game and questing and stuffs but not interested in getting killed by other players OR want to kill other players, then I highly suggest a PvE server instead. I think Aman'Thul (Alliance side) is a good server with high population of GMT+8 players but I'm not too sure... Cause I play a Horde on Thaurissan, actually. laugh.gif

As on 'how to play' and all those websites you need to read, well my personal advice is just play the game first and don't bother with those websites. Chances are, even if you go the wowwiki or Elitist Jerks websites you won't even know the heck they're talking about with all those terms. Just play the game and make sure you enjoy the quests, especially the starting ones, they basically teach you how to play one step at a time. When you reach higher level (like 40) then perhaps you will start understanding those wowwiki and elitistjerks stuff.

But one website you must get used to even at early level is www.wowhead.com. This is something like an online walkthrough for the game. Basically if you find yourself stuck on a quest, just type in the quest name there and read the comments other players posted. They will guide you on where to go and how to complete the quest. smile.gif

its a bit off topic tho... but heres a cool trick on installing WoW..

copy the WHOLE WoW folder from a frend whos actively WoWing (to avoid downloading wow patches, since active players' WoW folder r always updated) from his C: drive.. n copy it to your PC.. create a WoW.exe shortcut on yur desktop.. double click it to start .. VOILA!! thumbup.gif

if need .. copy all the WoW shortcuts on the Start Menu as well..

pssssst.. u can even WoW on yur thumb/pen/portable drive!!! try it!!! thumbup.gif

p/s: if u follow the above... u'll be WoWing with ALL yur fren's settings and addons... if u want WoW in its basic/default form.. just run 'repair wow' and set everything back to default settings. icon_rolleyes.gif

Download, install, go to the website for a free trial account. Try it, then only buy original WoW to upgrade your account to full account. Level your character to 60, then buy the expansion packs (The Burning Crusade for up to level 70 and Wrath of the Lich King for level 80).

Bear in mind though if you plan to start like this you can't use the new races introduced in TBC (ie Blood Elf and Draenei).

races, and professions.

and since it wasnt mentioned, the main purpose for this method, is so that you can get an idea of the game, whether if you wanna play it or not, stay with vanilla/tbc/wotlk, before spending more money on the full account/expansions.

Since this is your first time of playing WoW, i'd say you better plan your time for this game, and also your real life stuffs, or else once it got mix up, it's the end.

FYI i started this game when i was form 3 having the long school holiday, and got hyped up by playing this game, and once i started form 4, every week i ponteng like 1-2 days just to play this game, i'm not going to elaborate more as it links to my private life as well, so you should understand how this game really changes my life.

As for suggestion of class, my pick goes to warlock as this class is really good to play, you will have a pet to tank for you while you deal damages by crazy curses that deal a lot damages, that's all i can say, and good luck. smile.gif

Yeah, WoW can just be copy pasted and played, you don't actually have to install it. Find a friend / cc who has WoW fully updated, and just copy the whole WoW folder and paste into your pc and play.

The ones sold in Malaysia is the US version. Actually it doesn't really matter, you can just change some files and commands in the WoW folder and it can switch regions =P

But yes, download the US version. If you already have the CD, install from there lah.
