Havent really tried CLS out yet but i think it's quite cool. Although i might say that i wont be doing a lot of photoshoot that i'll be placing flashguns here and there. More of a walk and snap person if u know what i mean.

If i use CLS with my built in flash as commander, will the flash actually goes off together with the remote flash? So there will be two source of flash light?

oh ya that's what i heard also about overheating while using TTL mode. Is there a flaw in the way it choose its flash power in TTL mode? For newbies like me, prefer to use auto TTL. Does the new SB900 firmware solve the problem?

Is the SB600 power sufficient for indoor event coverage and maybe day time fill flash? Because this would be a one off buy, not planning to sell off this unit in the future.

im using energizer rechargeable battery and had heat issue~! is there anywhere we can update the firmware??? i want to update

Kalau ambil gambar secara berterusan atau pun asyik nak burst aje memanglah benda tu overheat Apatah lagi kalau flash tu asyik nak terpaksa hambur 1/1 power. Kalau dia meletop pun memang patut pun.
Kalau ambil gambar satu persatu dengan selang masa yang 'ideal', tidaklah flash tu nak overheat. Malah kalau 1/1 dengan selang masa 15 saat antara shot pun jarang nak overheat.

Strobing adalah 'konsep', bukan 'aplikasi'. Which means, strobing has got nothing to do with overheating. Its how one strobes that opens up possibilities of oveheatings.

ermmm like wedding... less then an hour already heat up.... now jz upgrade the firmware. direct shot until 205 pict, then it get hot enuff... i thnk its getting better laa

Haha nanny ye. Chaaittt Overheating adalah keadaan dimana mekanisme pengurusan haba tidak dapat menampung pelepasan haba dengan sempurna akibat 'build-up' haba selepas penggunaan oleh mekanisma pancaran dan bulb. Jadi, secara konsepnya, overheat tak ada kena mengena dengan jenis AA yang digunakan.

You might be able to burst or shoot continuously with little rest in situation A and not getting overheat at all, but you might get overheat quickly in situation B despite the same exposure setting. Its the flash output.

Haishh .... just an illustration of how environmental factor ie: temperature affects how heat works and managed.

It's funny to see most of the users here have no overheating problem or at least got the problem solved after installing the new firmware.

I think it comes down to how much flash power is being used and maybe because there's a temp. limiter function in the SB900, so it makes it like it keeps overheating.

I've tried using Canon 580 EX II speedlite, quite happy with the performance. So does the SB900 heats up as fast as the Canon? Im just worried after i get the SB900, end up potong steam only.

On another note, just wanna ask, if i use my built in flash as commander, will the working range from my position to the remote flash be less compared to if i use a SB900/600 as commander because it's brighter. Since if i understand correctly, CLS works by sending flash light correct?

Brothers, wanna ask... my SB600 mount a bit loosen when plug on top of my D90... i notice it is due to the steel mount located at the body there slightly wider... maybe i always hold on the flash rather than body when some 1 pass me the camera... Any idea how can i fix this? I am thinking maybe to push or press the top mount steel closer... or maybe hammer it a bit... but scare... any idea how to fix it?

Usually I go vacation with my partner, it'll be my DSLR and my tripod and the two of us. I mostly take pics of us for memories. And usually never pics that don't have us inside.

Going to try out some strobism shoot later.
But before that wanna sifus a question... when i use build in flash as commander mode, the build in flash will contribute any lights to the object?

Woohoo.. bought SB900 and 50mm 1.8 from tarita lowyat.. Total.. RM1980.. Broke..
Hope i utilise the flash well.. So damn freaking huge.. Having second thoughts now of getting the sb600 instead.. 

no...u cant imagine sb5000/sb3000 mounted on d900...    sry d3000/d5000 user...xD
