Havent really tried CLS out yet but i think it's quite cool. Although i might say that i wont be doing a lot of photoshoot that i'll be placing flashguns here and there. More of a walk and snap person if u know what i mean.

If i use CLS with my built in flash as commander, will the flash actually goes off together with the remote flash? So there will be two source of flash light?

oh ya that's what i heard also about overheating while using TTL mode. Is there a flaw in the way it choose its flash power in TTL mode? For newbies like me, prefer to use auto TTL. Does the new SB900 firmware solve the problem?

Is the SB600 power sufficient for indoor event coverage and maybe day time fill flash? Because this would be a one off buy, not planning to sell off this unit in the future.  tongue.gif

r u doing weddings? well if u do, if the wedding place is to be held on a hall (+very high roof one), u might want to add some extra exposure to the flash.. not sure with this, since i didnt have SB-600..

i use SB-900, works like a charm even in school hall.. tongue.gif

Kalau ambil gambar secara berterusan atau pun asyik nak burst aje memanglah benda tu overheat tongue.gif Apatah lagi kalau flash tu asyik nak terpaksa hambur 1/1 power. Kalau dia meletop pun memang patut pun.

Which means, strobing has got nothing to do with overheating. Its how one strobes that opens up possibilities of oveheatings.

laugh.gif the nanny of the darkside has spoken..

Phewww ...
*
so we can call 'heat-buffer' la? laugh.gif

Hahaha kalau berani dan tak kisah dipandang senget dan serong tongue.gif Saya bawak je kipas. Tapi untuk kipas diri sendiri je le.
Just wanna add ...

Situation A
=======
Exposure Setting A, SB900@TTL - outdoor under the sun

Situation B
=======
Exposure Setting A, SB900@TTL - indoor in dim light

You might be able to burst or shoot continuously with little rest in situation A and not getting overheat at all, but you might get overheat quickly in situation B despite the same exposure setting. Its the flash output.
*
is it because the flash need to work harder in order to fill the poor lighting condition in situation B?

It's funny to see most of the users here have no overheating problem or at least got the problem solved after installing the new firmware.

I think it comes down to how much flash power is being used and maybe because there's a temp. limiter function in the SB900, so it makes it like it keeps overheating.

I've tried using Canon 580 EX II speedlite, quite happy with the performance. So does the SB900 heats up as fast as the Canon? Im just worried after i get the SB900, end up potong steam only.

On another note, just wanna ask, if i use my built in flash as commander, will the working range from my position to the remote flash be less compared to if i use a SB900/600 as commander because it's brighter. Since if i understand correctly, CLS works by sending flash light correct?

Thanks smile.gif

580 EX II can be mount on nikon cameras ke?? shocking.gif

Brothers, wanna ask... my SB600 mount a bit loosen when plug on top of my D90... i notice it is due to the steel mount located at the body there slightly wider... maybe i always hold on the flash rather than body when some 1 pass me the camera... Any idea how can i fix this? I am thinking maybe to push or press the top mount steel closer... or maybe hammer it a bit... but scare... any idea how to fix it?
*
hammer a bit?? shocking.gif

how bout putting some sand paper, gosok2 at the mount?
