anyway can I ask silly question? blush.gif
The pictures of aeroplane taken b4 (de Havilland Chipmunk) is touch up or originally as taken by D90? blush.gif
*

Eh! ... I don't understand. rclxub.gif I keep seeing the D90 kit bundled with screen protector. I thought the screen protector comes together with the D90. Is this something different than the BM10 like the GGS screen protector? hmm.gif

Dun be scared. The color of the Chipmunk is from Gimp after post-processed. Original from camera is nice color. biggrin.gif

CMOS should be noisier at higher ISO right?
but should the built-in motor in lense is better than built-in body?
built-in lense AF more quicker, silent and less vibrating. if using d90 with built-in lense will it be better quality image capture or juz the same?
plz correct me if im wrong in any statement i've made.
LOL...im here to ask u all bout the opinion as im goin to get 1...and since is a d90 thread i hope there's no bias at all
tongue.gif  tongue.gif
u r right...what if the motor break down? will the AF work if i get a built-in motor lense??
LOL...where can get?i asked foto honey shop which located at lumut it cost RM4k juz d90 with kit...nth else!!!
darn!!

To be fair, I have not come across a D3000 high ISO comparison against the D90/D5000. There is however a comparison by Uncle Ken on the D40 against the D5000 etc. The D3000 sensor I suspect is derived from the D60 sensor which is derived from the D40.

D40 High ISO Comparison

Should the built-in lens motor be better than in-body motor? Yes it should. In theory, the lens motor can be designed and optimized for the glass that it needs to move. Meaning big/powerful/fast motor for big glass elements, small cheaper motors for kit lenses. In body motor is one size fits all. The in body motor will have to work the lens regardless of its size.

The downside of in lens motor is the cost. Each SWM lens you buy have additional cost for the motor. If lens include VR, then the glass elements will probably have to be bigger to accommodate the movements required for VR. Bigger lens, bigger filters, bigger cost. If your start to buy a few lenses, these will add up pretty fast. biggrin.gif

What happens if lens motor losak? Can still focus or the motor will jam up lens focusing? hmm.gif Wah. This I dunno coz I don't have any lens that have motor. But I'm pretty sure that my D lens can still work in manual focus mode. thumbup.gif

let me answer as i have stock lense

pict quality, so so only. great for beginner as it has the short and long zoom. to be compare with my sigma 18200, it has more natural color. in term of sharpness, it has so so only. here i provide u 3 of my test and error with same setting compare to my sigma. its all unedited version. fresh from camera, model tada guna dok goyang2 so i need to jack up my ISO and shutter speed, and flash battery out so no flash  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

Sure or not the kit lens only so so. Maybe your "test procedure" is flawed. hmm.gif

Ok I don't have the D90 kit lens coz I bought the body only. But here's a sample shot from Flickr taken using the kit lens.

Here the info direct from Hoya.

Look carefully at the "Key Features".

Seems to me ya, the key feature of the Pro1 filter, are there to solve problems caused by having a filter in front of the lens. Mua ha ha ha.
See the irony of it? If there is no filter in front of the lens, then there is no problem to solve. biggrin.gif

p/s - Erk!! ND8 is neutral density? Why do you want to slap that on? hmm.gif

Its like test driving Ferrari in ladang kelapa sawit with lopak and kerbau/lembu. After much testing, you conclude that Proton Karamjit is much faster than Ferrari!! shakehead.gif Ha ha ha. biggrin.gif

Actually ya, looking at all your test pics,ALL of them soft(blurry). Perhaps you're using too low shutter speed. Even with VR, the best it can do is maybe 3 stops down. Also, some people report that VR wont give you sharp pics 100% of the time. icon_idea.gif

I presume this was shot using a tripod. If it was, go for f/18 or f/20... two reason... one is to generate a nicer star effect on the street lights. The other is to allow you a longer shutter time which in turns generates even more traffic lines.
*
Woo hoo!!! Light trails. rclxm9.gif Come here come here and share your pics. drool.gif

Yup. Longer shutter speed required. Also helps to lower ISO to 100. Maybe loose a bit of dynamic range but what I do is combine a few shots in HDR. ;-) laugh.gif Oh another thing. I think that for nice light trails, the timing of the magic light also important. If you take the shot at midnight, the sky will be all black. If you take it at dawn or sunset, then the sky will be more blue. Gives nice balance to the pics. biggrin.gif

Ok. I did two of em. One is HDR and the other one is normal. Not a lot of traffic at the area. So the HDR one combines three exposure and the trails are more but finer. Which one is nicer? hmm.gif Appreciate also any other comments. smile.gif

Blur is caused by wrong focus or camera shake. Try to eliminate both.

To check for correct focus, can use Live View. Zoom in using the plus button and see in the LCD. Since this is a flower, you can use manual focusing. Focus until your satisfied that its tack sharp. Then bracket your focus. Take 10 shots varying the focus slightly.

To reduce camera shake/shake due to vibration, use the remote IR trigger to activate shutter. The Nikon IR remote is about 60 ringgit and IMHO, its the best bang for the buck thing you can buy. thumbup.gif Next, use the exposure delay shutter option. This is custom function d10 on page 183 flex.gif of the manual. You would want mirror lockup but since the D90 dun have, this is the next best thing to reduce vibration from mirror bounce.

Make sure also your tripod has no slop. Check the weakest link in your tripod system. Try to move the camera while on tripod and see where the slop is. Eliminate it.

Use the fastest shutter speed possible. Bump up the ISO if can. This will reduce movements from wind if you have wobbly tripod. The camera/strap combo will act like sail when you have strong wind. This can cause movement. Also don't forget the flower will sway in the wind too. icon_idea.gif

I cant think of any other things. Perhaps others can chime in. biggrin.gif

wow.. nice. it's obviously sharper than kit lens... oso when i tried night scenaries, kit lens tends to b super super soft at f22, the sharpest i tried out is around f11.
when i set it to f22, it can hav a longer shutter speed, but at the same time, i lost a lot of details.. SAD LAR!!

Dump the kit lens cheap cheap and buy the Tamron SP AF17-50mm F/2.8 XR Di II VC biggrin.gif. Or you could read here:

What the article is saying is that the diffraction problem will always be present. Even if you sell the cheap kit lens and buy the 6 thousand linggit cry.gif Nikkor 14-24 f2.8G Nano Nano lens shocking.gif , you cannot run away from the physics. Your pics will start to get blurry once you push aperture past F16 no matter what lens you have. doh.gif

If you read and understand the article, perhaps that may save you a few thousand ringgit from buying new Nano nano lens thinking that it will be better at F22. But if you want f2.8 for the bokeh, then that's another story. icon_rolleyes.gif
