QUOTE(168257061 @ Oct 11 2009, 10:34 PM) btw you use black card to trick what ? black card to act as n a GND filter..jsut that my one is more "manual"...and cheap..lol..i pass my GND to 1 of my technician few weeks ago...so i had no GND with me..had to use blackcard instead =)

QUOTE(Redcross @ Oct 11 2009, 10:44 PM) I still dun get it? U use a black cardboard to cover over the lens? any pic or link to show the "black card?" its jsut a normal backcard cut down from my unwanted box.. basically..what i did is..i use the card to cover up the lens(the portion of the sky)..slowly shake it(so it wont leave any hard "mark" on the border)..and move it upward slowly... so with this..i expose the sea longer..and expose the sky shorter..sort of to get more well-balanced exposure btwn the 2....not so "dramatic" as those overcooked HDR..yet it contains wider range.. sorry i dont have any link to any tutorial for this..maybe u can try google..coz i just briefly came across this thing from my friend's conversation..i guess it works roughly like a GND..but in a manual n more flexible way..so just give it a try..since i dont have my GND with me.. QUOTE(Redcross @ Oct 11 2009, 11:00 PM) I dun get the term "slowly shake" u mean shake your camera while taking the pic? Damm NoobNess leh~ LOL shake the card...my camera was mounted on my tripod....like if u see a GND..the color changes gradually from dark to transparent right??so shaking the card infront of the lens would give the "gradual" feel in the exposure...imagine if u hold the card still....the part which covered by the card n the part not covered by the card..the exposure is diff by alot..and u would also see a "dark-line" in ur photo..coz the border of the card stays at the same position for too long..but..if u keep moving it..it wont really leave anything on ur image..while getting ur shot with diff exposure.. so for my shots..its like 8 sec exposure for the sea..5 sec exposure for the middle part of the sky..and probably 3 sec exposure for the top(thats y its darker compare to the middle sky)

QUOTE(Redcross @ Oct 11 2009, 11:38 PM) oh so u mean this is only usable for long exposures~ still dun get it abit but i understand, lol yea..i would advice to use it for exposure >4sec...sometimes to short very hard..unless u love to trail n error...lol..
