Sir Alex Ferguson Includes Owen Hargeaves In Manchester United's Champions League Squad
QUOTE
The injured midfielder is named in the squad, along with the regular first-team players and also some youngsters.

Manchester United have registered 35 footballers to participate in this season's group stage in the Champions League, which kicks-off on September 15 with a fixture against Besiktas in Istanbul.

The Red Devils, who followed up their triumph in the competition in 2008 with an appearance in the final in 2009, but were defeated by history-making Barcelona, have also been grouped with Russian Premier League side CSKA Moscow, and Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg.

A perhaps surprise inclusion is defensive screen Owen Hargreaves, who continues to nurse troubling knee problems.

The following players have been named:

Van der Sar, Foster, Kuszczak, Neville, Evra, Fabio, Rafael, O'Shea, Ferdinand, Brown, Vidic, Carrick, Fletcher, Valencia, Nani, Scholes, Park, Hargreaves, Gibson, Giggs, Obertan, Macheda, Owen, Berbatov, Rooney.

The UEFA ruling also allows players who are born on or after January 1 1989, to compete outside of the registered 25. The following players have been included:

Amos, J Evans, Cathcart, Chester, Hewson, C Evans, Anderson, Gray, Welbeck, Zieler.

Catania confirm Morimoto plan
QUOTE
General manager Pietro Lo Monaco has confirmed Catania will sell Manchester United target Takayuki Morimoto at the end of the season.

Ferguson kept to his promise of keeping faith with his current squad by refusing to bring in any new faces on transfer deadline day but emerging Serie A talent Morimoto has been earmarked as a potential future signing.

Lo Monaco has admitted Catania have no realistic chance of keeping hold of the 20-year-old Japanese striker and are likely to cash in at the next opportunity.

"We'll transfer him to a big club at the end of the season," Lo Monaco told Asahi Shimbun.

"We, only a small club, can do nothing more for him.

"We've already received important offers from England and France this summer as well.

"Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson also highly rates him."

Sweet. Definitely hope Hargo would be good aft that op that he had last year. Here's hoping he'd be back all in perfect shape (tho it might take time).

Why can't Macheda join the unregistered 25 since he's born after that age, which then can free up a space for Tosic

if im not mistaken. macheda is only 1 year with manutd. so not eligible under the ruling.

Improve ? don't think so, for me his performance is average only ...

somemore now in the squad, nani is 1st choice left winger with park the 2nd choice ...

i have doubt if he even good enough for clubs like villa or everton.
