Don't underestimate the fatigue traveling from England to Turkey to play in a stadium filled with a hostile crowd. Soccernet did say Man Utd didn't even return to Manchester after the Spurs game, opting to stay in London to take the flight the next day.
The match previews shows Sir Alex with his face red with the heat and hair plastered with sweat. He was shaking his head while the team trained on the pitch, even though the preview made no mention of it but it struck me that it must be hot and humid there. |
